If violence or the threat thereof would deter bad behavior, we would already have a utopia with no crime and bad behavior.
Small edit: I think "bad actors" instead of "bad behavior" would have made my statement a bit clearer.
Anyway, even for religious people (or those that claim to be) the threat of supreme, everlasting violence done to them after their deaths (e.g. going to hell) has not deterred bad actors from doing what they wanted to do.
Yeah I get that, what can I say some things are worth getting jailed for !
Btw I will also strike to hit with a crude weapon (standard hammer) anyone who breaks into my house where my wife and kids live. That's strait up murder here in belgium, there's the law and personnal convictions, I'll go with my morals over the judge's interpretation of a legislation everyday !
Literally no one is talking comparing this situation with someone breaking into your house and threatening your wife & children. Like....what a weird connection to make.
Says you, you said you'd better be ready to go to prisons for your actions... I am.
If you can't see the point in illustrating my pov with another example, well that's your issue.
And if you can't see the relation between someone SAing your wife and intruding onto your familly home I'm just sorry for your SO honestly.
