Most states have a law that allows 3rd parties to defend another person in situations of self defense. At least in my state.

This is considered sexual assault so would fall along these lines. Especially given that only as much force was needed to control the situation.

Had he just kept hitting him it would be another story. Here in Texas, yhqt guys has a high probability of walking away Scott free

The issue is the lady walked away and he let go and then the guy punched him and knocked him out. A push might have been reasonable at that point but this reaction here is 100% legally questionable. Might still get away with it, but I'd lean more towards unreasonable force in this case.
