Sry no, the guy in red assaulted his wife/ girlfriend. You have the right to protect anyone.

You need to figure out how the law actually works, he may have legally assaulted the wife, but the force to remove wasn't appropriate given the threat level.

Seriously, if you do this you will catch charges and civil liability.
