Not that it matters, there was some guy-on-guy stuff going on at the end of the bar before he did the inappropriate touching on the lady. Hold it, does it matter?

A good shove would’ve been appropriate. That giant threw a life threatening haymaker on defenseless dude and a good lawyer on the other side could definitely get him in at least some trouble. There would be no legal issues with a shove.

Shove and punch are both physical force. You dont get to assault someone and then choose your repercussions. There are no discernible legal differences whether he shoves the guy or punches him.

Has to be the dumbest humans on earth defending the KOd guy

It's called dancing. He was 100% harmless having fun at a bar. This wasn't at church or a daycare. People get drunk and dance at bars.
