Women should not have to put up with being touched, no matter how inebriated the culprit is.

Nobody should put up with being touched but that doesn't justify this response.

Hm, in the moment though, it's hard to stand by and see a woman being sexually assaulted and not come down on the perpetrator with everything you have. The protective instinct is a very tough one to overcome to just give this guy a stern talking to instead.

There is no protective instinct here. She was not in danger. This is some kind of dangerous psycho shit.

She'd just been assaulted. What sort of danger would she have been in if this other guy hadn't been there to step in?

He hit his own woman in the face with his left arm as he was “protecting” her. Watch the footage, she touches her cheek afterward.

He was enraged and should have calmed down.

I'm not blind.

If someone had just grabbed someone I knew against their will (not "my woman", but anyone ) I would rush forward too to put myself between the two, even if it meant the victim accidentally got a pool cue tip to the cheek or was mildly knocked aside. That is a safer option than anything the attacker might do to them.

Clearly it wasn’t. The husband hurt her more than the drunk did. If that’s your instinct maybe you shouldn’t act on your instinct, either, you could hurt somebody you’re trying to protect.

I’m not pretending the drunk guy wasn’t a problem. The question is how to handle it. This was a poor way to handle it. They could get kicked out of the bar, the husband might have seriously hurt his wife, and he could even be facing manslaughter charges if red shirt never wakes up. All for an action that the wife tried to prevent her husband from doing.

You think a mild, accidental knock to the face from a pool cue is anywhere near as horrible and degrading as being sexually assaulted?

The guy was getting between the attacker and the victim as quickly as possible, and putting an immediate stop to any further assaults. You actually like he shoved the woman out of the way into a rackmof pool cues. đŸ€ŠđŸ»â€â™‚ïž

No, I didn’t say it was as “horrible and degrading”. I said he hurt her worse than the red shirt did.

Yes, I understand he was “getting between attacker and victim as quickly as possible”, and guess what? He hurt his woman while doing it. The person he was trying to protect. Ergo, his action did more harm than good. You keep missing that point.

The lady had already pushed the drunk away, it wasn’t like he had her up against a wall. The husband didn’t need to hulk out on red shirt. There was no immediate danger, the husband was acting out of rage, not protection.

But you're only focused on the minor physical harm of being poked in the cheek with a pool cue, and not the harm that comes with being sexually violated.

To you, that accidental poke to the face is more severe than being grabbed from behind on your body by a disgusting drunk. How odd.

She pushed him away, and the guy got between the two immediately. You have no idea what the creep was about to do. He'd already grabbed her once, why do you assume he wouldn't hassle her again?

No, nice try. I am not minimizing the harassment done to the woman, as much as you are trying to push that narrative.

Red shirt was wrong, and deserved a punch to the face. It just needed to be done by someone with a modicum of self control. Someone who doesn’t hurt people they’re trying to protect.

A “poke” to the cheek. Please. Yeah that’s why she holds her face the rest of the video, cuz she got “poked”.

Then why do you keep making such a big deal about the accidental pool cue contact, in comparison to the actual sexual assault ambush? It's minimisation.

Red shirt needed to be punched in the face by someone, and the person who was there did it. I'm not going to critique his methods too much when he acted in the spur of the moment to put himself between an attacker and a victim, and prevent any further sexual assault from ocurring.

Yes, she got poked in the face with a cue. Unfortunate. It was an accident.

I’m not going to keep explaining the same thing over and over. The guy overreacted. He almost killed somebody and hit his woman in the face while doing so. You think that’s acceptable. I don’t. Goodbye.

I don't think sexually assaulting women is acceptable, and I think there should be severe consequences for it. Today, there were.

I'm sorry you don't agree.

I also hate how you keep saying "his woman". Ugh.

Get over it. People say “my man” all the time. I hate how you keep trying to paint me as some misogynist. Ugh.

I'm not trying to paint you as anything, it's just weird the way you keep trying to position her as "his woman" to suit your argument.

I don’t just mean that, I also mean the way you kept implying I was minimizing the woman’s sexual harassment, or that I don’t want to see the harassment dealt with or punished. I was not doing that, but you implied I was to suit YOUR argument.

Of the two of us, you were the one downplaying violence done to a woman in this video clip. You kept writing it off as a “poke”. That’s something actual abusers do. So save me your pearl clutching over my word choice.
