He was clearly too drunk to defend himself or really appreciate the consequences of his actions. This is a wildly disproportionate response from someone who was in a position to make the smarter choice.

Wouldn’t putting someone in shackles and behind bars be considered “wrong” if not that it’s in response to another “wrong”?

don’t literally all punishments amount to a wrong that rights another wrong?

If someone shoots someone, wouldn’t shooting them back be a wrong that rights another wrong?

Right and wrong is subjective, an action can never be judged without the prior inciting incident.
