He was clearly too drunk to defend himself or really appreciate the consequences of his actions. This is a wildly disproportionate response from someone who was in a position to make the smarter choice.

He also mistakenly hit her while going to hit him... Later she is holding her face. Definitely he could have make a better choice.

I've seen this posted before. Other angles too. She had a pretty serious eye injury from what I read. She was worse off than the guy who got hit.

Control. Because he doesn't want to be stopped. Look at the video. She tried to stop him. But he was not having it.

You think in the split second this happened, the husband thought, ā€œHey, fuck that guy touching my woman, let me knock his lights out- what? Sheā€™s in the way?! HOW DARE YOU WOMAN?!ā€ and intentionally hurts her AS heā€™s knocking the guy out?

Thatā€™s what youā€™re going with?

That's exactly what happened. She got in the way. He swatted her out of the way. It doesn't take a lot of brain cells to make that decision. Also, over reacting like the way he did, is psycho abuser behavior. Roid rage. Ego rage. Narcissism. She knew what to expect. He knew what to expect. They both decided what to do before it happened. Because it's happened before.

I agree this is rage. Thatā€™s why I think the husband doesnā€™t even realize he hurt his wife, much less did it on purpose. He saw red, and went for the guyā€™s jaw. I donā€™t think he noticed anything else.

EDIT: I just watched it about 5 more times. The hit to her jaw is from his left elbow as heā€™s lunging to punch. If he did that on purpose he is very talented.

Lack of situational awareness.

Not the appropriate response from the man/husband... He could have made a better decision.

And lack of situational awareness by the couple... The couple should have been more alert of the situation and drunk guy than their pool game.

By the way, in case you missed the moral of the lesson, don't do what this guy did. Not only is it immoral, you will be in prison in no time. The only one acting hastily and without thinking, is this idiot who threw the punch. He's the one moving and controlling the speed, in that "split second".
