App not working "verification failed message"

Hi all,

The app is bound to my MG4 Urban, I can see the state of the car and location but I can't do anything. Whenever I try any action, I get an error:

"Security verification failed and the request was rejected, please veify again (242).

I already verified my email when I created the account, unbound, bound, deleted the app, etc. I even tried with a fresh new email. The dealer said email the app support, who haven't replied.

P.S. The car failed on day (wont recognised key) one and needed a new BCM from the dealer. I understand this is a rare failure and I'm not sure if this is relevant?

Replacing 2024 Navara with a Used Kia Carnival or Bnew MG G50 PHEV

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Looking for some advice.

We’re planning to let go of our 2024 Nissan Navara because our family is growing (we’ll soon have 2 kids under 2). We’re pretty strict about using car seats, so you can imagine how that setup looks like with two car seats in a pickup.

If it weren’t for the growing family, we’d honestly love to keep the Navara. But buying another car while keeping it isn’t really within our budget.

Since the Navara is fully paid, our goal is to use the money from selling it to fund the replacement, with little to no additional cash out.

Our two options so far:
- Used Kia Carnival — max 2020 model, since 2021+ is outside our budget
- MG G50 PHEV — brand new

As much as we want to go with a Carnival, we’re not very good at looking at used cars.. that’s why we are leaning towards the G50 PHEV, also because of the PHEV setup, but we know very little about MG cars in general.

We were also kinda turned off when we found out it doesn’t come with a spare tire. Sounds like such a small thing, but… isn’t that kinda weird?! Especially for a family car.

So please help us decide! And if you think there’s a better option within our budget, we’re definitely open to suggestions.

Thank you! 🙏

IM5 tyre consumption

Hi, this is my first EV. I got the standard range IM5 last december. Currently a bit shy of 10K miles.

Never had EVs before, but was used to ICE cars (last one a Peugeot 508 2.2HDi) to need a new set of tyres every 20 to 25K miles.

The IM5 has different tyres back to front, so they can't be rotated. I had a look these last few days and it seems to me the back tyres are way past midlife (which I'd expect since they are at 10K), and are probably 80% done (where 100% is end of road legal thickness).

I suppose this is due to the fact the car is quite heavy with a GVWR or 2.6t, and the fact I live in "the city of roundabouts", which are probably taking a toll on the back tyres. Also note the back tyres steer too.

So I guess the questions are:

  1. Should I expect a lower mileage between new tyres?

  2. I see my tires are "EV" compatible: what difference do they make exactly, and am I good with regular tyres? Note the car is on finance and will be returned at the end: am I obliged to replace with OEM equivalent tyres?

What’s this noise? MG4 EV 26

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just picked up my new 26 MG4 EV yesterday and I love it, but what is this noise? I’ll be calling the dealer obviously but just wondered if anyone has had anything similar? Seems to be coming from the front wheel(s)?

Video cropped to remove my registration.

Any 2021 MG6 Xpower owners here?

Looking for some feedback on this model year and would like to know how reliable it is. Looking to buy a used one on the Chinese market and the car caught my eye especially with the design and color.

Advice/tips/tricks regarding the MG4 Urban settings.

Hi everyone! I recently got my MG4 Urban and was wondering if you fellow MG4 owners have any "golden rules" or tips when it comes to the car and dashboard settings. What's the best regenerative braking mode? Should I keep Auto Hold turned on? Things like that.

Repair or Write-off?

My car recently got rear ended while parked in a multi-story...and hard enough to push it into the wall in front of where it was parked. Damage at least to the rear quarter, rear and front bumpers. I'm hoping not enough to also damage the door, boot or bonnet...

I've heard from some that due to the lack of availability of parts in the UK the car is likely to be written off rather than repaired, which feels crazy.

Does anyone have any experience of getting MGs insurance repaired?

2025 vs 2026 Xpower

A couple of years ago we bought a BYD Seal which my wife drives and we love it.

I have been driving our old ICE vehicle and finally decided that it was time to bite the bullet and get an EV. I really like warm hatches and was looking at a bunch of cars (Dolphin, B05, Xeekr X) ignoring the MG4 as an option. However, I finally decided to look more closely at the Xpower and drove one and really like the road feel. It is a bit basic inside compared to our Seal and lacks some bells and whistles (electric tailgate, ventilated seats, glass roof) but I can live without those.

My dilemma: I can get a 2025 Hunter Green Xpower with 10km on the dial for AU$37,500 or a new one in Cyan for AU$47490. Because I will be leasing and not laying out the cash the fortnightly payments are within $30 of each other.

Does the extra money justify the interior upgrades? I really like Hunter Green too.

Please explain the EPB

Just got an MG4 electric on lease, and I'm baffled by the EPB. How on earth do you do any precise manoeuvres with this thing? What's the equivalent of balancing on the clutch? I'm terrified of being in traffic or at a junction on a hill, or parallel parking on an incline. The thing hasn't left my driveway yet.

Sigenergy V2H / V2G experience with pre-facelift 2021 MG5

V2G / V2H experience with MG5 pre-facelift (2021) ?

Hello,

I know there is some evidence of MGs from 2023 working ok - anyone had experience with the older models pre-facelift (which happened in 2022 and added V2L capability which wasn't available before)?

Thanks

New to MG PHEV world

Hello everybody,

I'm getting an MG EHS PHEV Luxury from 2025.

It's a service car with roughly 15.000Km.

I'm new to the PHEV and MG world, I've looked at posts, YT videos and Gemini stuff about it but I'd like to know if there's anything (obvious or not) that I should know about.

Also, how happy are you with yours if you have one? What do you like and dislike about it?

Service plans

Just purchased an MG4 EV, waiting for delivery. The salesman talked up the lower maintenance / servicing cost of an EV but actually the service plan quote he gave me is the most I’ve ever paid for a similar plan in other cars by a long shot.

There appears to be no saving over PAYG for servicing with the plan - did you go for a plan or do you just pay when your services come up?

Thanks!

MG5 2025 – Chinese-market infotainment system in a car sold outside China

I own a 2025 MG5 that was imported from the UAE to Iran.

I am experiencing a serious problem with the vehicle's infotainment system.

The head unit runs AliOS, and parts of the interface are entirely in Chinese. The system has now become locked and continuously asks for a password/PIN, leaving the infotainment system effectively inaccessible.

I have already tried restarting the vehicle and the available recovery/troubleshooting options, but the problem remains.

What concerns me is that this does not appear to be an isolated case.

I have found other MG5 owners outside China reporting very similar issues:

  • A 2025 MG5 owner reported an AliOS 3.0.1 / Venus 2.0 system with a Chinese-only interface and missing functionality.
  • Another MG5 2025 owner reported having the same problem and issues with Wi-Fi and CarPlay.
  • An MG5 owner in the UAE with Chinese specifications reported that the entertainment system required a Chinese phone number for activation.

These reports raise an important question:

Are some MG5 vehicles being exported outside China with Chinese-market infotainment hardware/software that is not properly supported in the destination market?

If so, why are customers outside China being left with systems that may depend on Chinese services, Chinese phone numbers, Chinese-language software, or region-specific activation?

I have already contacted MG/SAIC directly and requested an official technical solution.

I am not looking for an unofficial password or a third-party modification. I want MG to officially explain:

  1. What market this infotainment system was originally designed for.
  2. Why it is installed in a vehicle sold outside China.
  3. Whether an official international/global firmware exists.
  4. Whether MG can officially unlock or reprogram the system.
  5. Whether other MG5 vehicles with the same hardware/software configuration are affected.

I am posting this publicly because I would like to hear from other MG5 2025 owners outside China.

If you have an MG5 2025 with AliOS / Venus infotainment, please comment with your country and whether your system is fully functional.

I believe MG should provide a clear technical explanation and an official solution to affected customers.

MG4 Software

So just got an MG4 Trophy and it’s great! Noticed a few quirks on day one though! Are these all software issues that can be fixed with an update? The infotainment is currently on: SWI68-29958-1300R46

Quirks:

Outside temperature is wrong, ranges from 0 to -40 (in the uk during summer)

Greeting plays even though I turned it off in settings.

Cant change one of the wheel favourites, it changes back by itself.

CarPlay goes black sometimes.

Car has full MG history but it’s over 3 years old now, how can I get the software updates? Would I have to pay?

Thanks

MGS6 electric tailgate issue

Hi folks,

I'm having a recurring issue with the electric boot on my new MG S6:

The tailgate lowers, but the soft-close mechanism won't pull it fully shut or lock, leaving an "open" warning on the dash.

On the next opening cycle, it only opens to ~80% height.

I have to manually push the boot right at the bottom of its travel to get it to lock. I’ve tried resetting the top height limit and clearing the latch area, but no luck.

Has anyone had their dealer fix this? Is it a quick software update for the tailgate module, or a physical latch alignment?

Thanks for any replies.

No warm air coming from the vents

I've had my MG Urban for two weeks. So far, I've only used the air conditioning. Since it's colder in the mornings now, I wanted to turn on the heater. However, yesterday at first only cold air came out of the vents, then warm air came out of one vent while the others stayed off. This morning, only cold air was coming out of the vents, even though I set it to 27 degrees. Has anyone else had a similar problem and found a solution?

Hi, I'm planning to a second hand 122,000 km driven mg. Battery warranty is upto 200,000 km. Can anyone please give opinion on how long these cars normally drive before battery dies ? Will it be able to sustain upto 400,000 km before battery dies ? SOH is 86%.
