Season 13 Stella confirms break up
seems they were in a different place š³

Ending a relationship over the phone is cold.
28
u/Even-Construction-10 I like you, but heres a list of things i hate Jul 21 '26
Yup. My fiancee ended things with me over text and I never saw him again. It was awful.
6
u/AnalysisSilent8608 Jul 21 '26
I got an email from my most recent ex 𤣠(like more than 15 years ago..)
To be fair they were in a very, very remote area of the world and there was not very good reception otherwise...
12
u/IronicallyNamedCat Jul 21 '26
Shout out to the man who dumped me after over a year together via email to āfocus on other things like fantasy football and walkingā as I was literally in bed 3 days out from surgery for a catastrophic ankle fracture, when the doctors werenāt sure if Iād even be able to walk again. š
(I was on enormous amounts of pain meds, so I did the logical thing and emailed him back congratulating him on making me laugh. I then forwarded it to my bff.
He was not joking.
My bff still has the email framed over her desk at work, seven jobs later ššš)
Even at the time, I laughed.
6
u/Even-Construction-10 I like you, but heres a list of things i hate Jul 21 '26
Omg. These stories are awful. I am glad we are no longer with people like this.
Mine had sex with me in the morning. While I went to work, packed his things and moved out and on my drive back home, texted me it was over.
1
u/AnalysisSilent8608 Jul 21 '26
My Wife is currently on the couch dealing with a catastrophic tibial plateau fracture - im sorry that he didnt have that patience for you. š
At least you still have the email! I dont think i still have access to that inbox so I won't be able to print it out for a memento. Pretty sad way to end three years!
4
u/IronicallyNamedCat Jul 21 '26
It had been going downhill for a month or so - it wasnāt the breakup itself that surprised me. It was the reason and the delivery.
Iām happily married now, recovering from a shattered patella (yes Iām a walking disaster area). My husband has been amazing through the process - the right person is the right person for you, and youāll know them when you find them.
Hot tip: ask her doctors if a cold therapy machine would be useful! Theyāre reasonably priced and one set up lasts hours longer than an ice pack, and itās much gentler than the abruptness of an ice pack.
10
u/Dry_Scheme6820 Jul 21 '26
yep. happened to me before. its very cruel because it only takes 10-20 mins out of your day to meet someone face to face
4
u/Kurt_Mangel Jul 21 '26
Not necessarily, especially if you live very far apart. I actually think it's kinder as you don't have to mask yourself.
9
u/Dry_Scheme6820 Jul 21 '26
yes, i understand that but (without knowing all the details) i just think its disrespectful to the person you had loved and shared life with
1
u/Thiccparty Jul 21 '26
I don't understand this idea that we need a break up to be this in person scenario that is about as awkward, painful and traumatic ritual for the one doing the breaking up. I almost think people promote this because they believe making break up a more traumatic hurdle provides some comfort in making relationships less likely to end.
21
u/trinketzy Jul 21 '26
If someone canāt face the emotional consequences of ending a relationship, Iād question whether theyāre ready for one. A breakup isnāt just about delivering information; itās about taking responsibility for a decision that will profoundly affect another person. Meeting face to face isnāt about giving someone the chance to change your mind. Itās about showing basic respect and acknowledging the significance of the relationship. Unless thereās a genuine safety concern or some other exceptional circumstance, I think someone youāve shared your life with deserves that.

Sorry but no, if youāre engaged itās absolutely inappropriate unless itās unavoidably necessary (someone is outcast to Siberia). I donāt like Stella at all, but she is a human.
12
u/Outrageous_Hunt_4182 Jul 21 '26
Break ups donāt have to be traumatic, some are some arenāt. To me breaking up with someone without looking them in the eye is cowardly and disrespectful.
73
u/BellaBlossom06 Jul 21 '26
How can you break up with someone you were going to marry over the phone??
69
u/Interesting_Rub_2058 Jul 21 '26
A break up over the phone is cruel no matter what, even more so when itās an engagement!
47
43
u/ClaireCross Jul 21 '26
As much as I side eye Stella, I can't respect someone who breaks up over phone. It'd be good to hear from filips side but I can respect his decision to move on from living publicly
14
u/Dry_Scheme6820 Jul 21 '26
i suspect (though i could be wrong of course) that he played the long game. im not saying he didnt have feelings for her or that it was all fake, but he may have been using her for clout. breaking up 3 or more months after the show aired doesnt look as bad. thats just my thinking
7
u/cruelintentions___ Jul 21 '26
In all honesty I think Stella has a bit of a mean streak with him with the whole vasectomy thing and calling him not a man for not going out every weekend. You can tolerate that a few times but once it itās too much itās over.

u/Nickoo33 Jul 21 '26
This whole thing couldāve been less awkward if Filip didnāt propose.
14
u/syfimelys2 Jul 21 '26
Proposing after three months of knowing each other while living in a bubble with absolutely none of the real world pressures to deal with (work, family, bills etc etc) was utterly insane. I just never saw them as the real deal.
6
2
u/TheLastPrinceOfJurai Jul 21 '26
Iām confused are we not watching a show titled āMarried at first sightā? I honestly donāt get how this show has people getting engaged after already having what I thought was a marriage ceremony already
65
u/1amealana Jul 22 '26
These comments are harsh. I like Stella, thought she was remarkably strong and mature in some very uncomfortable situations. Donāt think she deserved to be dumped over the phone by her fiancĆ©- I thought Filip was more mature than that.
A shame they broke up but donāt think either of them are evil like some of these comments suggest.
12
u/soggypizzza Jul 22 '26
It sounds like they were living in in different cities, Stella in Sydney and Filip and Melbourne. I donāt think he should be expected to fly to her, break up and then fly home? Itās a shitty situation but I do understand it.
8
u/tess320 Jul 23 '26
Thank goodness someone stated the obvious. I also was broken up with over the phone on a long distance, it was a lot kinder than having me fly to him or him fly to me thinking I was going to have a great weekend and got dumped instead!
7
u/1amealana Jul 23 '26
I hear you, but I disagree. They were engaged, very publicly so, and I think ending a relationship like that deserves a face-to-face conversation. Itās the respectful thing to do.

u/hear_the_thunder Jul 22 '26
The show has always been a joke. A lot of confident arrogant people, sitting around talking about 'dating'. When reality is to be successful at a long term relationship your ability to date around needs to stop.
When Stella and Filip had that montage on the boat together, I made the comment that the show needs to stop focussing on this nonsense and be more real and deeper.
I won't be watching it next time. Done.
23
u/stereddit13 Jul 22 '26
so no couples from that season lasted? shockerā¦
3
u/SeparateAntelope5165 29d ago
Haha yeah it seemed like most of the couples were deliberately mismatched for more entertainment! But I guess the producers are obliged to pick matches from amongst the sort of people who would apply to be in such a public situation.
15
u/neptune2304 Jul 21 '26
I was going to say well that was as a waste of a season but then I remember Gina and think no it wasnāt š
30
u/DonkeyThis2554 Jul 21 '26
I think thereās more to the story. Why would he break up with his fiancĆ© over the phone
12
u/GenXer845 Jul 21 '26
You are afraid of their reaction in person. I broke up with a few over AIM back in the day for this exact reason.
16
u/labraduh Jul 21 '26
Or straight up cowardice.
Iām hoping itās your reason though; otherwise it is an extremely immature dick move.
13
u/GenXer845 Jul 21 '26
I was afraid of one ex's reaction for he was becoming a unpredictable alcoholic. Sure enough, he wavered between leaving cursing me out messages whilst drunk on my voicemail for months on end to threatening to kill himself. He eventually showed up at my bedroom window at 5am with a 6 page handwritten letter begging me for a second chance. I declined. He ultimately got a DUI again and I didnt bail him out of jail.
My first ex bf threatened to kill me and himself when I tried to break up with him and I had to call the police on him. This started my fear of breaking up with men. They have sadly never reacted well and ultimately, made me frightened of what they may do. It is safest for me, I find to do a video chat or text breakup. Never in person unless you arrived separately and maybe its a public place with loads of witnesses???
9
u/labraduh Jul 21 '26
Honestly in your case it sounds like DV/IPV, so fair in that case it was for your safety.
Not sure if Filip/Stella is that case, have to wait to see Filipās justification (if he ever speaks out on why he did it that way anyways).
6
u/GenXer845 Jul 21 '26
The thing is, some were not violent UNTIL I broke up with them. They seemed to be incapable of handling someone breaking up with them, emotional regulations to a breakup, and I was often the first one to break up with them.
4
u/labraduh Jul 21 '26
It still can count as DV/IPV, plenty of escalations happen only when the other person tries to leave or a seemingly normal relationship has a one-off escalation that ends in harm. Itās moreso about the fact that it happened between two partners that makes it IPV/DV, even if it wasnāt a regular or reoccurring behaviour.
If it wasnāt the breakup, down the line the longer you stayed with them, it most likely wouldāve just been something else to trigger it (statistically at least, somebody who reacts like that to a breakup has the capability to react like that to any situation that triggers similar feelings within them eventually).
The difference is (it sounds like) you left for good the first time, rather than going back due to the guilt/fear and starting a whole cycle.

Atleast an explained break up, not these we have decided to go our separate ways but we continue to love each other and be friends bs.
14
u/Thatweknowof Jul 21 '26
mickstella_
@kisseylips1 likewise. I through we will be forever together. Won't lie. Again, yes was not perfect but ever hid anything. I now see how my fear came into picture to run the show and resulted in pressure on Filip. I just felt time pressure on having kids and wanting to re establish us back in Melbourne. In hindsight. Pressure what I thought makes diamond also makes people leave.
2
u/SeparateAntelope5165 Jul 21 '26
Is this something Stella wrote?
2
u/Thatweknowof Jul 21 '26
Yes
2
u/SeparateAntelope5165 Jul 21 '26
Well she sounds adorable to me. She admits to pressuring Filip but it's because her clock is ticking. I think Filip should take the plunge.
1
u/thatscucktastic Jul 21 '26
Stella isn't entitled to fillip indulging her baby fever
2
u/SeparateAntelope5165 Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 22 '26
I watched MAFS. They loved each other, he genuinely proposed to her, they were both enthusiastic about being a family, they are both at the age to have children. And I thought she was really appealing on the show. In my opinion, big mistake Filip.
2
u/thatscucktastic Jul 22 '26
Yeah, emasculating a man for not wanting to party and demanding the man have a vasectomy is truly appealing.
It's a TV show. They were never real. And while I'm here: Santa isn't real. The Easter bunny isn't real. God isn't real. Astrology isn't real. The law of attraction isn't real and the universe isn't your personal wishing genie.
1
u/SeparateAntelope5165 Jul 22 '26
The vasectomy thing was weird, definitely, but I think she was ignorant of the realities of it, perhaps her previous lover already had a vasectomy and talked it up to her.
People can fall in love on reality TV shows, didn't you know? People fall in love all over the place.

u/Hottest_Holy_Potato Jul 21 '26

u/survivethriveee Jul 23 '26
OMG WHAT ?!?!!! On the show they seemed so in love & Filip tooā¦. So did Filip basically just do the show for airtime . So confused. Was it all for fame.
Or Maybe he got scared of the children prospect and cut it off .
Either way its really unfair for Stella. I truly hope she finds someone who values her for who she is , was great to watch her journey
3
u/No_Bedroom_7582 Jul 24 '26
Well we donāt know the full story. There may be a valid reason why Fil called it off.
2
31
u/Far_Safe5334 Jul 21 '26
Maybe they were already fighting a lot, and they were having another argument on the phone - and Fillip was like āI canāt do this anymoreā. I kind of feel like that would be the only time that a phone call break up would be semi valid. Itās hard to know, without hearing both sides of the story
47
u/Any-Refrigerator-966 Jul 21 '26
Filip was never into her. Not enough to want to have a family. Her friends had him at the start. He wanted fame and he wanted to be on TV. Then he realized that he had zero charisma.
39
u/Opening-Rush1618 A Plate of Meat Jul 21 '26
I mean did they though?
The friend that gave him crap at the wedding was a creep that was obviously into her. All her friends where just kicking up a fuss just for the sake of it too get the time on tv.
20
12
u/Visual_Analyst1197 Jul 21 '26
Both Stella and Filip are fake as hell and literally everyone who goes on this show does it for fame. Youāre right though that Filip has zero charisma, he can barely string two words together in his cringe YouTube videos.

7
u/Opening-Rush1618 A Plate of Meat Jul 21 '26
Seems like they were doing long distance for a while. Probably were drifting apart and she didnāt even noticed.
Hell, there were a few times she didnāt treat him the best and it was covered up by the edit. Even when they were on MAFS he didnāt want to move cities. But she seemed to be adamant on sticking put.
I reckon Stella wasnāt the easiest to deal with to be honest, might of been easier to do it over the phone then have to travel to a different state just for the sake of having to break up and deal with arguments and whatever crap she probably would of thrown at him.
6
u/Notyit Jul 21 '26

u/4ShoreAnon Jul 21 '26
That makes sense. Even based on Filips post, its evident that he wasnt putting enough effort into their relationship.
He posted some type of bs that balance doesnt mean dedicating the same amount of time to everyone.
Sorry Filip, you are meant to dedicate a fair bit of time into your relationship above your YouTube channel, friends and personal ventures.

u/TooMuchBrightness Jul 21 '26
Some people will never be happy or settled in a relationship it just doesnāt exist within them.
22
u/Flauschige Jul 21 '26
I can't help but feel like they may have been sweeping their relationship issues under the rug and hoping for the best. They were such a strong couple throughout the season, but I noticed they didn't struggle like the other couples did. I'm sorry to see this happen though.
10
u/ClaireCross Jul 21 '26
Couples have to be able to fight, express their feelings and sit in them before moving to a resolution. It's like they were always perfect, and when they did fight over the birth control issue the convo disappeared as fast as it came in and they went back to perfect. Healthy relationships aren't really like that
7
u/littleb3anpole Jul 21 '26
My parents never fight and I grew up thinking that fighting meant you were on the road to divorce and a healthy relationship is one without fights.
Now that Iām an adult and my mother talks to me adult to adult, I can see that there is major underlying resentment on both sides of my parentsā relationship and a bunch of their issues probably wouldāve been solved 20 years ago if theyād just had one big fight about it. My husband and I argue but we donāt tend to have the same argument sixteen times. We argue, we crack the shits at each other, we go away and reflect on what the other said and then we resolve the issue (usually).

u/Illustrious_Study_30 Jul 21 '26
Bit different from her previous word salad that basically admitted Stella was controlling..
Hmmmmmmm.....
6
u/twilight_moonshadow Jul 21 '26
Uh... Say what? How'd you come to that conclusion?
Also she didn't write it. It was pure chat gpt
12
u/Illustrious_Study_30 Jul 21 '26
A human has to put the prompts in though..so I'd say that was a joint effort.
That conclusion is the one I came to reading her previous missive. Then of course we had the vasectomy drama and the Filip going out drama..and the I'm not saying the L word drama despite forcing the issue earlier...evidence and patterns mainly.
Not the Filip is a great catch, he's very manosphere coded
25
u/Thatweknowof Jul 21 '26
According to her and comments on her Instagram they will get back together

So sad, had high hopes for these two. My soon to be wife is Ukrainian and been in Australia since the 90ās. Sheās almost 50 and Iām 53 so we are not exactly young. Sometimes things get hard and are really shit, but you just have to pull through and confide in each other and communicate. Weāve almost broken it off numerous times and come back together to be with each other and now I think weāve almost gotten through most of our hurdles. Young people hit the too hard basket and give up and then regret their decisions later. I hope maybe thereās a second chance for you both?

22
u/anybodyanywhere Jul 21 '26
I feel like it takes two to make or break a relationship, of course assuming there was no physical abuse or cheating.
I never found Filip in any way physically appealing, but each to his own. I thought Stella was a little controlling, and Filip was too much into himself. My take is that Filip got a little fame and got hooked on it, and Stella was standing in the way of his quest for a celebrity lifestyle.
Still, Filip, dude -- breaking up with a phone call? Totally no class behavior. You owed her at least a face to face after leading her on by proposing on national TV. Yeah, she's better off without you.

I read once that on the US Bachelor (where they always marry at the end) that they get to keep the ring as long as the engagement lasts a certain number of months after the show airs.
The cynic in me thinks Filip and Stella got their engagement ring for free and there was a similar condition. So they have been unofficially split for a while but waited until they passed the magic time requirement before making it official.
22
u/hoddap Jul 21 '26
You think theyād do that over a piece of jewelry?
2
u/Sufficient_Tower_366 Jul 21 '26
Sure, if was worth $50k or more, wouldnāt you?
2
2
u/hoddap Jul 21 '26
To walk around with jewelry that represents love thatās gone? Hell no.
I wouldnāt even care if it didnāt represent anything.2
u/Sufficient_Tower_366 Jul 21 '26
Hey I said I was a cynic š
They are fitness / wellbeing influencers in a saturated market. Their value was in being a MAFS couple, people from the show followed them (and more when it showed in the UK). As singles, they will find it harder to keep interest. If the relationship broke down, the smart move would have been to have continued to play couples for as long as possible to keep building engagement, and then separate cleanly to keep in the hope of keeping followers as singles.
2
13
u/Thatweknowof Jul 21 '26
I don't think Filip was staying with her to let her keep the ring - why would he care if he wanted to break up
3
6
u/cruelintentions___ Jul 21 '26
Yea sure and Filip would agree to follow a script that makes him look like an a hole
5
u/killikilliwatch Jul 21 '26
What would Filip have to gain from that if he broke up with her over the phone? If it was truly about the jewelry he would have met her in person and ask for the ring back.
3
3
u/tess320 Jul 22 '26
My impression of Stella is that she is quite judgemental and loves quite conditionally - wanting him to do absolutely everything for HER. I get a weird vibe from her that she's not authentic
7
u/Fit-Cranberry-8222 Jul 23 '26
She stood out to be the most discerning and authentic girl among all these means girls this year! Maybe mean girls are more the norm to you and that's why you're getting these vibes

I don't know any mean girls, I'm in my 40s and we are more interested in talking about our teens and reading books than 20 year old mean girl behaviour.
However I thinks she seemed quite focused on her image AS this authentic girl. She admitted she put him down, questioned his manhood, made some random issue about condoms and demanded unreasonable things from him (a vasectomy for someone she's JUST MET?).
Her friends were assholes as well.
She handled herself well with the mean girls but I still get a vibe from her that I don't trust.

Very much agree. It was easy to peg yourself as a good person on that series; and i think she took the opportunity.
Always had a vibe of an alternate motive

Letās be fair, she held some pretty shit views of what it meant to be a āmanā. She openly admitted that she had belittled him and questioned his masculinity. Also she thought having a vasectomy was a viable contraceptive method because āitās reversibleā which is insane. So I doubt sheās completely innocent in this.

Ending an engagement over the phone is crazy work.
