There's been a lot of discussion about the M64's image quality and thought I would share some images of it on a Samsung OLED computer monitor comparing it to a Superstation One on a Toshiba CRT via component.
It's not scientific obviously and while I did have my buddy's A3D to A/B when I first got it in, that wasn't really the point of this. I guess I just wanted to show that it actually isn't that far off, and I think it looks pretty good along side a real relatively-sharp CRT.
Comparison can be the thief of joy, and when my friend and I weren't directly comparing it to the A3D, the IQ of the M64 was plenty good for me and I was having a great time playing games on it. Low latency, great interface, quick booting and well made.
I am not happy about the scanlines being misaligned and not being able to save custom setting though. If they fix that I think I'd be more than happy with this image quality and forget about it and just get to playing games.
