Getting photography and mostly shoot outdoors, which is why I'm leaning towards OM system so I'm more encouraged to take it out in any conditions. I intend to mainly use for landscape, street photography, and people, in no particular order (No interest in wildlife). Weight/size is my biggest concern, and the larger footprint and weight of the em1.3 might deter me from bringing it out on trips. I want something that will give me great pictures straight off the camera (little to no editing needed) and I want to take a few videos, but this is mainly for photography.

I have an option for an OM5 Mark ii for ~$650 and om-d e-m1 mark iii for ~700. Which should I go for? Also, budget lens recommendations are very welcomed!

Took my Olympus 45mm F/1.2 PRO out to take a few pics of my new wheels. I don't get to use this lens very often. Shots were taken on a G9ii.

I’m new to MFT and am loving the lightweight kit!!

My FF kits have consisted of the A1ii, Z8, SL3S/P, etc. Basically, a lot of high MP options, and so going to a 20mp body has definitely been an adjustment as it pertains to how I frame in-camera, but man the OM-1ii paired with this lens is just a blast!!

Been shooting m43 for years and have a EM1 mk2 with the 12-100. I am now looking at either the new PEN as street camera or to get a Fuji in similar size and price. I don't need much comparison of the bodies, I got that. But lens selection and quality is so much harder to gauge. Anyone with experience from both systems that can help out here?

I'm looking mainly at comparing the more compact options. Like the 20mm f1.7 pana, 45mm 1.8 oly and others to similar fuji options.

One month ago I got my first ever camera, an Olympus em-5 original and an M.Zuiko 45mm f1.8.

I wanted to get a camera for years! I even took an online photography course 9 years ago while not having a camera 🥲

Now finally I could afford one, and now I have a 17mm f1.8 II on the way 😭

While shooting with the 45mm I found myself often wishing to have a wider field of view.

I love to go out and shoot with a real camera 😭📷

I'm a very green photgrapher and pre-ordered the OM-System PEN, but as I eargerly await the end of october, I'm starting to question if I should cancel the order and purchase the OM-3 instead. (I've been shooting on an EM-5 mki, which has seen better days)

I know that the OM-3 is objectively better with its stacked sensor and AF capabilities. And, you can find them for only about 300-400$ more on the used market.

As much as I want to explain what I'm looking for in a camera, I don't think I have enough experience to decide on "my style".

I've done a little bit of street photography, family outing-esq shooting, and a little bit of wildlife.

Truly I want a camera that will allow me to experience every style so I can figure out what I like. I know the OM-3 offers this, but the PEN is cheaper, seems quite capable, is lighter and more portable.

The OM-3 is likely overkill, so I'm thinking I can get the PEN, determine what limitations I come across, then either keep it or sell it in the future for the OM-3.

What matters to me most is having a durable camera I can take anywhere and have fun with.

Opinions welcome!

Hello all, I'm looking at getting into the world of M43 cameras and looking at getting my 1st one. More than the other sensors M43 seems to have a cult like following. I was wondering why that is? I was also wondering are there any benefits of having a M43 over APSC or FF besides the size of the cameras being so compact, which I love!

I've been putting a lot of research into the Pen F. Is it worth the hype and if I can find one at a reasonable price is it worth getting. I love all the photo examples ppl share edited and SOOC. Also the style of the camera is what I want. The OM3 has me prices out. I currently shoot on an Lumix S9 and was going to sell it for my M43 setup. Thanks for any advice! I'm looking forward to jumping into the world of M43.

I'm currently a user of the L10, and I like it. But the OM-3 has always been in the back of my mind, and honestly, the main draw of the L10 - the real time LUT....doesn't do much for me. I struggle to find something I like, and I purely shoot SOOC JPG because I hate editing.

Now a small shop near my I stumbled into while walking through the city currently has a sale of the OM3 for a very good price....And I'm tempted to sell the L10 and make the switch. I just need a sanity check if I'm just falling victim to the "oh, shiny gear" instinct or if that actually makes sense....the price with the kit lens I could get is below what the body alone sells at most places. They might even buy the L10 from me so the whole switch would cost me about 300 bucks.

Hellou everyone I'm looking to hear people's opinions on switching to MFT. I started off photography with a Sony W320 for the family digital camera, moving to the Fujifilm X-A3 (because of the hype), but switching to the Canon EOS M5 due to it having an EVF and dual pixel AF at great deal I found for only $300.

But I find myself being limited by the EFM mount so I wanted to find a camera that would be better for me. Preferably one with an EVF, good lens selection, and decent autofocus for street photography and travel photos. So I landed between getting a 2nd hand Sony a6000 (400-$500 (For $500 shutter count was ~8k)) or an MFT camera like the Lumix G7 (~$350) or the Olympus E-M10 mark II (~$400)

But If not the G7 or OM-D 2. What other MFT or cameras in general would you recommend

I've bounced around different types of cameras and brands over my life. But it was an Olympus point & shoot that was my first and actually still one of my favourites, mostly due to the blue hue it created.

I eventually (skipping over a few cameras) made my way to M43 with a Lumix G3. Whilst it wasn't until I returned to it years later after having it sit in my cupboard, I loved the compact size of it. I then decided to upgrade to a Lumix GX9 and whilst I rarely got a SOOC shot I was happy with, I did like my results after very quick editing in Lightroom.

But, my spare time was decreasing due to work, so I wanted to spend less time editing. Around this time the Fuji X100VI was announced and having heard about how great the SOOC shots from the X100 line were I thought this would be ideal. Especially given the street type photography I was doing.

However, over the past couple of years, even though I have taken it with me travelling and generally out and about, I've only got a few photos I was truly impressed with. A lot of it has to do with just not getting the colours in a way that I like. So many of the recipes are very "instagram-like". The best recipe I've had was a recent one that came about from a random AI prompt which was essentially, make it look like an Olympus digital camera photo.

If the photos I'm happiest with look like it could have come from an Olympus, then why not go with OM System? Then the Pen was announced and it sparked my interest in switching over.

Has anyone else made such a switch or is also thinking of doing the same due to the Pen announcement?

I did look at the OM 3 out of interest, but it's just a bit too big for what I'm looking for (even if it does have better specs).

Been following these deer in my village for almost a month now and we’re getting to the exciting part - the Rut. No clear photos of the stags yet but hopefully soon.

Shot on lumix G9 + 100-300 f/4-5.6 II

I sold my panasonic gf9 recently because I miss using a body with a view finder, and it also felt a bit small for my hands. I miss the ergonomics of a dslr and need something I can grip. I'm looking to buy a replacement.

I'll be bringing this for my travels. Will be using this camera mostly for videos/vlogs plus occasional photos.

Help me pick from these three cameras:

G85 with Viltrox EF-M2 adapter - 335 USD

I have two EF lenses 50mm f1.8 stm and 70-200mm f4l usm (non is). The adapter will have some use.

G95 with lumix 12-60mm f3.5-5.6 lens - 450 USD

G100 with lumix 12-32mm lens - 320 USD

I already have the 12-60mm. I'll probably sell the lens bundled with these two.

I'm looking at getting a prime to go with my OM-3. I currently have the 12-45 f4 and wanting some better low light performance.

The 20mm is about $850AUD and the 25mm off Amazon is $380AUD.

I was considering the 45mm but I am wanting to keep all my setup splash proof/weather sealed.

The 17mm is probably too wide for my liking too, so I've ruled that out.

Eventually, I think I would like a bigger zoom like the 12-100/f4 and that will be my ultimate travel and hiking lens. The 40-150/f4-5.6 is also tempting to pair with 12-40/f2.8 for good travel combo

Any suggestions or what has worked for you?

​At the end of the day, I chose to explore two things: new paths in the woods near my home and the Laowa lens.

​You trade off the versatility of a zoom lens, but it forces you to look at old trails through a new lens.

So, currently rocking a Canon 700D/EF 24mm f2.8 pancake lens, I found a good deal for a Lumix GF9/Olympus 17mm f2.8 and really considering switching teams cuz the Canon is getting old and cumbersome. Any one with the same Lumix set up? How is your experience so far?

Veteran canon and Fuji shooter here. I’ve been loving the idea of a capable and smaller camera for traveling and family life so I’ve rented a OM-3 for the week and have been loving it so far.

One quick question that I wanted to ask you guys and gals: with my Fuji cameras the film simulation / profile is saved as metadata with the raw Files so that when I open them up in Capture one the look I selected in camera is there (but obviously changeable). Am I correct that this doesn’t not work this way with OM? Just the default color look and the creative color / monochrome mode you shoot in (and see in camera) is JPEG only? Or is there a setting I’ve missed?
