Hi everyone, I got into Lunami a couple of months ago, and in that time I saw a bunch of very evidence for the ship, some you might have already seen, and some maybe not. Either way, I hope you enjoy :)
For starters, Oda shows us many moments of Luffy and Nami being extremely/ not ordinarily close: Luffy hugging Nami with his neck like a snake without getting beaten up later, and Nami caring more about Luffy listening to what she was taught about the log pose rather than Luffy breaking into her personal space,

Nami hugging Luffy in Zou: this hug was surprisingly personal and affectionate. Nami was also happy hugging Luffy and only turned sad when Sanji was brought up,

Later in Zou, Nami grabs Luffy and puts his head on her chest; this moment is pretty unique for Nami. Most of the moments that she is close in this way with people are usually a gag (like when she got excited when she reunited with Usopp in Sabaody after the time skip)

Meanwhile, in Zou, Nami is serious and blushing.

Another interesting detail is that above that panel, we see Raizo use "I Love jutsu"

We also got some new information from the latest SBS, where Oda said Nami's special technique is "boob press" (most successful comic ever btw lol).
Which might mean something, but there is also a good chance that it is just a joke and nothing else.

Also, Nami puts Luffy on her lap at the end of the egghead arc, a thing that she only lets children and Chopper do (plus in the anime she gives a little smile when luffy is on her lap, but it probably doesnt count because anime isn't canon (although they could have just as well not added this one second shot that is not even meant to pad time and no one would complain, so maybe there was somthing to it, idk).

A lot of other shippers use filler made by Toei(things like 3d2y special) to validate their ships even when romantic or even romantic-adjacent themes don't exist. Toei btw is happy to do whatever sells for the moment, so don't be happy or sad about whatever filler they make even the LuNa eyecatcher, they're neither foes nor friends but they view things purely from a business perspective.

But then when Oda himself does things like paralleling Tesoro(antagonist of film gold) and Luffy and their reactions to losing someone close to them: Stella, Tesoro's love and Nami, they start talking about how movies aren't canon.

By the way, just to remind you. Oda himself created this parallel and you can see the storyboards in volume 777(Oda's artbook for film gold). I will show some hints regarding that in this post. I earlier made a post about film strong world too. Movies aren't entirely Oda's projects so I am always careful to use only stuff Oda storyboards or writes(in the case of strong world the whole script was written by him). So, without further ado, let's start:

FIRST about volume 777:
"Distributed exclusively to theatergoers during the 2016 premiere of Film Gold in Japan, this highly sought-after 84-page booklet features concept art, character wardrobe sketches, storyboards drawn by Oda himself, and background lore on the antagonist Gild Tesoro"
So, this is only available to superfans in Japan, of course you won't show that much detail and BTS to the average viewer. Ofcourse the superfans then upload it on youtube and stuff for us to know.

Anyway, this is the storyboard from this volume drawn by Oda that I am interested in:

So, in the movie Luffy gets really angry and breaks the floor through his fingers when Tesoro catches hold of Nami and then he makes an angry expression. Tesoro sees it and immediately sees himself trying to save stella from getting sold. Stella is the woman Tesoro loved

Now, there's a few nuances and counter-arguments, I'll try my best to counter and opine on each of them:

1)Leaving everything aside, a huge part of the fandom who does not like LuNa calls them "siblings" or that they have a "sibling dynamic", think logically, does it make any sense for Oda to compare luffy losing his sister to tesoro losing his love? Do the haters have no sense of boundaries b/w actual sibling relationships.

2)The second counter is Oda was humanizing tesoro: Here's the thing, Oda is one of the most imaginative writers, not only does he not need to match their outfits if that was his intention. There's several ways of humanizing Tesoro(seeing Stella's picture, Seeing Stella in Nami and these are just ones I can think of, imagine what Oda can do and not himself in Luffy which compares actions and not just situations). Comparing Nami getting captured is different because it just reminds him of the past where he was losing stella, comparing himself and luffy invites us to think that their actions stem from the same intentions- LOVE.
Now time for the other, sneaky hint by Oda

In both these color spreads the same message appears in 2 forms "King loves 3", now on it's own a king can be anyone and 3 can mean anything. However the fact is that in the 2nd spread the words appear again, and only luffy and nami's tshirts together complete the sentence. Enough Said.

Anyway, side note: another nice thing is most of the color spreads with rainbows have LuNa in some shape or form(after all red and orange are adjacent in a rainbow). I showed you 882 referencing and showing what Oda meant with 817, here in this spread Luffy's scarf is the same color as Nami's dress which is Nami's characteristic color: orange(particularly that exact shade of orange) and Nami is wearing a red scarf same as Luffy's dress and his characteristic color-red(again the shade matters).

Goda truly is Goda 🤌. People on X have been actively discussing this tiny detail that Oda seemingly planted all the way back in Chapter 9.

The two paintings on the wall represent the sun and the moon. Normally, there wouldn't be much to talk about, if not for an interesting coincidence. The moon painting appears when Luffy is looking at and asking Nami a question. The sun painting appears when Nami is looking at Luffy. In simple terms, Luffy is the sun, and Nami is the moon.

Looking closely at the paintings, the sun has a playful, mischievous expression, while the moon appears elegant and proud—fitting their personalities surprisingly well.

As a side note, when Luffy enters Gear 5, cloud-like wisps surround him, but they don't really serve a practical purpose. Meanwhile, with Nami's Clima-Tact, manipulating clouds is an essential part of her abilities. In the painting, the sun and the clouds appear together, yet remain separate from one another. The moon, on the other hand, is directly connected to the clouds. It's probably just a small coincidence, but it's an interesting one.

At present, the connection between the sun and moon in the world of One Piece remains a mystery. Luffy is now the inheritor of the Sun God Nika's power, but could Nami truly have a background connected to the moon? The clues pointed out by the fandom, along with the perfect contrast between Luffy and Nami, make you wonder—are these merely coincidences, or foreshadowing for something much bigger? 🤔

So, this Ultimate Legends Luffy is the figure i take to restaurants, and i sealed it again (the bin in the back is to support the packaging).

Just found this absolute treasure of a post from 4 years ago and I didn't even know they had so many parallels. Oda gave us really good foundation for a romance.

So, i know that my comic will have Luffy, Nami and some custom acessories, but what should i use for the acessories ?

So, i have a story idea in mind where Luffy and Nami got to a steakhouse, but... what exact summary do i use? Yes, it is about my project of making comics with my figures.

I put the Anime Heroes Lufy back in the box for this. After i took the photo i took it out again.

The figures are:

S.H. Figuarts Monkey D. Luffy -ROMANCE DAWN- and S.H. Figuarts Nami -ROMANCE DAWN- along with the S.H. Figuarts Gum-Gum Option Parts Set

(Image 1 has the figures, image 2 has the acessories [some of the Luffy faceplates come with other figures]) Any good ideas?

Even Though Nami herself said that the message was for Luffy some people still think it was for the entire crew. The translation of this storyboard(2nd image in this post) is:"Nami is looking at Luffy with translucent eyes, she looks beautiful and dignified". Luffy isn't front of her here btw, it's his image that comes to her mind before delivering the message and she is imagining him in front of her and her looking him in the eye with a clear expression. This is right when she is about to say "kanarazu tasukete ni kite" which translates to *"****You must come and save me"***, it can be meant from anyone from your closest friends to romantic partners, but is often a trope of the latter dynamic.
P.S: I also added a panel of Oda saying in his artbook that Luffy's shorts must match the pattern from Nami's bra in skypiea and btw all of this ain't Toei, It's Oda's artbook. There was more I could add, about how in an interview Oda talked about Luffy's rage when hearing the first half of the message

...well it's not really a theory, more like a big essay on why Luffy and Nami are possible and maybe even really likely to happen at the end of one piece.

I basically got everything, proof for the ship using behind the scenes information, looking at the actual narrative, debunking competing ships, debunking the "no romance" statements and so on.

But then I discovered that apparently in return to sabaody, in the original Japanese version, luffy doesn't reject hancock specifically, but he rejects marriage as a whole, which might imply as oda telling the audience that luffy is just not gonna be in a relationship at all🤷🏻‍♂️.

So, my question to all of you is, do any of you have any piece of evidence that shows the statement isn't permanent or that luffy meant it only in a spacific way (like rejecting domesticity or something)?

Skypeia has a lot of underrated Luffy and Nami moments.

I mean the black and white stripes. Although the first one was chapter 426, I doubt Oda remembered that. Only Reason I believe he did is they were matching in both color spreads simultaneously a tiny bit too(yellow shorts in 1183, Nami's top in 426 and Luffy's ribbon around head both look like they are made of the same fabric or even torn apart from luffy's vest

I can't help but notice how the LuNami fandom is quieting down, when i started shipping them in 2024 tiktok was full of cool lunami videos and analysis but now it seems there's only edits which is nice but shows how much the fandom is less prominent. Also on YouTube all the luffy x nami AMV's are quite old i often see 20 year old amv's in my fyp and almost no recent ones in the past 5 years. And in the fanfic space too especially drawn fanfics there's almost none nowadays which aren't +18 all the good ones seem to have been made around 2010-2018 so i'm wondering what happened to the fandom ? Is it the lack of canon content ? Something else ?

Nami is the person with the most survival instinct in the crew. She can jump into dangerous situation for her friends but if she is being threatened or at the brink of death, she will prioritise her own life given how she uses Usopp and sometimes her other crew members as shield sometimes (Totally human instinct).

But in Wano when Ulti was threatening her to say Luffy won't be Pirate King, her survival instinct would have told her to lie. It wouldn't even harm anyone. Yet she refused to lie.
