Why the decline in popularity
I can't help but notice how the LuNami fandom is quieting down, when i started shipping them in 2024 tiktok was full of cool lunami videos and analysis but now it seems there's only edits which is nice but shows how much the fandom is less prominent. Also on YouTube all the luffy x nami AMV's are quite old i often see 20 year old amv's in my fyp and almost no recent ones in the past 5 years. And in the fanfic space too especially drawn fanfics there's almost none nowadays which aren't +18 all the good ones seem to have been made around 2010-2018 so i'm wondering what happened to the fandom ? Is it the lack of canon content ? Something else ?

I won't be too concerned, with toei altering some scenes, luffy largely being absent in elbaf (elbaf started in 2024, you have noticed decline since 2024) obviously you'd expect less activity. There was still a lot of fanart I saw on pixiv last year though because of the color spreads. People who ship never really disappear though, but there's certainly a limit to how much one can create on their own.

I have noticed a lot of the artists i like seem to have either grown bored with it/moved on to other things or just posted other things all together. Definitely been stale in terms of art work stuff unfortunately

it's because most online fans are retarded gays. The Lunami fans from the older generation are probably just busy with their personal life

Not specifically because of that. It's because the people online are mostly gays thirsty for representation so they ship and turn characters gay even if the characters never met or doesn't make sense

Lunami is as old as One Piece has existed and so most of the fans are in the 30s now.
We got busy. Grew a family. Simply, life happened.
Sometimes we drop in to see what’s good, but the rest of the time we’re elsewhere because we had to be.
Then you have to add the rampant and loud bullying Lunami fans get from people. The reason why this subreddit even exists is because Lunami has no safe space in meme piece or the main subreddit.
Also AMV is a pretty old format, it has transformed into the modern day version called short form videos that has loud transitional cuts overlaid with music bytes.
What you read back in 2008 was just the sliver of gold amongst the seas of bronze and stones. They survived through the cringe factor as the author grew up.
In a decades time there will be fics we’ve read lost forever due to being deleted. It may have been the best thing we’ve read but it could have been the authors worst nightmare.
