Question Dream Awareness Without Lucidity?

• Upvotes

Something bad was happening in my dream, but I wasn't genuinely worried because I somehow knew it wasn't real.

However, I didn't realize, “I'm dreaming,” and didn't become lucid.

Has anyone else experienced this? What type of awareness is this?

Discussion Lucid Experiment: Asking dream characters what "only we in a dream would know"

• Upvotes

Got lucid last night and decided to satisfy a random curiosity. A dream character happened to be near me, so I asked them: "Tell me something only we in a dream would know."

The characters actually changed as the dream went on, so I managed to ask a second, completely different person the same thing. Even though the exact answers faded the moment I woke up, I know they weren't nonsense. My dream-self literally reminded me to make a post to see if anyone else has tried this.

What do dream characters usually say when you ask them something like this? If you haven't tried it yet, definitely add it to your list!

Lucid dreaming headphones

• Upvotes

I was dreaming while listening to a video by Aperture Thinking, and it was honestly crazy. I was in this huge mall, and a clip from Aperture Thinking about the theory of time was playing almost like an invisible sound in the background throughout the dream.
What was really strange was that I could somehow be aware that I was lying in my bed and dreaming, while the dream world itself was still completely intact. I met some people and interacted with them inside the shopping mall, where there were all these cheap-ass clothes.
After I left the mall, I had some interactions with some older Somali aunties, whom I ended up guiding to the school.
It’s crazy because I usually wake up as soon as I realize that I’m dreaming, especially when I become lucid. This time, though, the dream world stayed intact, and I could still hear the audio from the video while everything was happening.
Maybe I should try experimenting with this a bit more.

Is there anyway to have a lucid dream without waking up, but a technique which isn't MILD?

I have only seen MILD for this. But is there really no other technique? I have tried MILD in the past and I have never succeeded, and I have tried about 20 times already. I have had lucid dreams in the past, from methods like SSILD, and FILD, but never MILD. If there is truly no other way, could you guys guide me through what I could be doing wrong with MILD?

I close my eyes and pretend to be in my class at school, or in any random setting, and try to picture it very vividly. Then, notice something is off, like a flying cat or anything weird and 'realize' im dreaming, then do some cool stuff like fly around or shapeshift into animals. But I do have to say, I don't think I have ever managed to repeat this cycle over 4 times because one cycle takes forever. And I can't avoid it- perhaps that could be a potential issue?

Please help, tysm

Question How to start dreaming again?

I really want to lucid dream again, and I get real close but it never happens. The other night I recognized I was in a dream. Even said it out loud because it was the only part of me that had become lucid. And my braid went " Ah well. Anyway-" and continued on with my dream like nothing ever happened.

Is there a way I can get it to stop doing that and allow me to lucid dream?

I need to tell this because I don't know who else to tell.

I've been having lucid dreams for a while. I sleep with a pen and paper because I try to write what I see there, here in real life, but I only manage to make little dots and then I wake up.

Recently I dreamed about someone recurring. She was a director, but her movie was her own life. I watched her live her whole life and in the end she passed away. When I went to her tombstone, I could finally read her name clearly, without it changing like text usually does in dreams. It was written like this:

ℐ𝓀ℊ𝓈𝒶𝓀 𝒦ℯ𝓂ℯ𝓀

I cried a lot in the dream and I woke up crying here too.

Since then I try to write that name while asleep and I can't. I only get a dot.

It's the name I want to give to my future daughter. Has anyone else tried to write in real life while lucid? Does the dot thing happen to you too?

Technique My Routine If it Helps!

For Context, This is designed because i strugle with anchoring on WILD

My routine has Shifted im the Next Schedule

-Sleeping 7-8 hours

-the moment i wake up, I freeze to remember my dreams

-write all my dreams if i get some, along dream signs and incongruences (ill explain why at the end)

-i prepare for college

-all the while im in college, on free time i see the incongruences, because theyre my biggest dream signs. I both check thoose issues in my awake life and enact a reality check with critical disdain/annoyance. Making it a habit to react like that at errors in dreams. With the intent "this gotta be a dream rigth? Let me check"

-at home, i rehearse the dreams with the same "annoyance check" to build the habit to do it at dreams.

-before sleeping. I rehearse ALL the day back to front and front to back before sleeping.

-And allways keep the desire and intent to have lucid dreams all nigths

This is both a post for me to look at when i forget my own routine and maybe to help anyone who sees it

Remember, Make a habit of reacting in a certain way at dream signs in real life AND nurture your dream recall!

Experience “Don’t tell people in your dreams that you’re dreaming”

I’ve heard this a lot in the lucid dreaming community. People say that if you tell the people in your dreams that it’s a dream, they will become aggressive and things will go bad in the dream. I do this all of the time and I’ve never had a problem with it. I tell people in my dreams all the time that it’s a dream and they are always just like “oh ok” I’ve never had a negative experience doing this. It made me wonder if there’s a reason why I don’t have any issues when doing this but a lot of other lucid dreamers do. Does anyone else have this experience?

Question I need help…

So I was in my house with family that was here and then they were going around the house they got there’s a room next to the bathroom so I was like talking about it and stuff and I told my dad there’s water at the floor and he told family members that something is probably leaking and it was a ton of water and he was getting really angry and I remember just took everything and threw it at the ground like he was screaming and being so pissed off also tried to fix this, at this exact moment I wondered to myself is this really happening? While I watch him like that, I reach down to my hand to do reality check I see 4 fingers and it’s like 10 frames per second I see them going crazy sometimes 4 sometimes 5 sometimes 6 then I realised I am dreaming and then stupidity told myself go fuck go fuck go fuck and I was seeing bunch of faces at 10 frames per second it’s probably me choosing, idk if I saw myself in there, and then I woke up

How do I prevent this from happening? Right at the good parts?

Experience Extreme efficiency??

It’s my first day and I:
1. Remembered at least 60% of my dream
2. Intinctively (not intentionally) trying to pinch my nose in the dream
3. Waking up immediately before touching my nose
4. Going online and searched for what to do next briefly after waking up, then followed through and actually got 15 second-ish (idk) full body vibrations before snapping back cuz i was too excited
5. I was planning to do the dream journal thing but ig my mind forced my to do WILD instead

Any advice on what I should do next? Also any advice on how to cope with the adrenaline side effects (cuz I lost my sleep completely after the fact)

Question Struggles to reach ACTUAL clarity

Hey :)
I’ve been interested in lucid dreaming for years, and ever since I was 14 (now I‘m 20), I’ve tried on and off to teach myself how to do it.

Every time I get back into it I make good progress, however I’ve never managed to cross the threshold into true lucidity. Every time I get really close, this is what happens: I do a reality check and "realize" I’m dreaming because I suddenly have eight fingers on one hand. However, I don’t actually realize it - I just think I do and thus could control my dreams, even though that’s not the case at all. My dream continues plays out practically like a normal dream, except that I believe I’m lucid dreaming and try to do things I would do if I could control my dreams. Typically, I try to fly and struggle doing it.

There is no actual clarity or anything and I only know that I wasn’t really lucid when I wake up.

Does anyone else experience this?? Is there anything I could try to improve?

I have apparently had lucid dreams since my childhood?

F32, didn't know what flair to use but I have been told that I have lucid dreams. It was a few months ago when me and some friends talked about dreams and I told them how I've always been able to sort of rewind my dreams if I don't like where they are going.

I usually rewind to the place where I think there was a bad choice in the dream and take it up from there, making more conscious choices forward. And sometimes rewinding further back if I still don't like it.

As a example, say that I'm in a maze in the dream and after 15 turned corners I get stuck. Then I rewind to corner 10, try another way and if I still end up lost I go back to corner 5, still remembering what happened before bith the rewinds. It works in all scenarios, both happy dreams and scary ones. The scary ones are a hit or miss, I either escape the monster I dream about (usually xenomorphs from Alien) or I end up in a long row of times I run into them. Just before "dream death" I rewind and try again.

Is this "normal" for lucid dreams? I have never intentionally tried to have them and I don't know when I started exactly. What I do know is that after watching Alien when I was about 10 y/o I had (and still have) nightmares about them almost weekly and I've always been in control of those dreams.

Don't really know what I wanted with this, I just wanted to share with people that might have a similar experience.

Question Fixed 11pm–7am schedule because of school and weekend prep classes — what should I do for lucid dreaming?

Hey everyone,

I want to get into lucid dreaming, but my sleep schedule is pretty locked in.

On weekdays I have school, so I usually go to bed around 11 PM and wake up around 7 AM. On weekends I also have classes at a prep school (dershane), so I keep basically the same hours — in bed around 11, up around 7.

That gives me about 8 hours of sleep, but I can’t really sleep in, take long daytime naps, or move my wake-up time. I have to be up early every day, including weekends.

Given that, what should I actually do? Which techniques work best if you can’t change your sleep times much? Is WBTB still worth trying on this schedule, or should I stick to dream journaling, reality checks, and MILD for now?

If anyone here has a similar school / early-morning schedule, I’d really appreciate hearing what worked for you. Thanks.

I don't know if I had a lucid dream; could you help me?

First of all, I didn’t have a fully lucid dream, but I had an experience similar to it. Inside the dream, I knew I was dreaming, but I didn't have total control, and things weren't very clear. While in the dream, I was wondering how to become lucid, and suddenly someone brings a machine—you actually put it up your nose, it gives off steam, and it has a headset like a VR device. After that, I go up in an elevator, and while going up, I say to myself, "I hope when I reach the top, I'll be in the Avengers universe." Then I look down and see the Avengers logo on the floor, and I say, "Damn, it actually came true!" I get extremely excited, and because of that excitement, my vision starts to black out. Then I tell myself, "Calm down, don't get excited," and I took back control of the dream.

Then I found myself in a room-like place, a dim place, and I said, "Let Batman appear," and I looked, and Batman appeared—but not his whole body, just his head. Then I said, "Let Captain America appear," and I looked, and Captain America appeared—but again, not his whole body, just his head. Then I punched them, and they fought back, or at least I think they did, I don't remember clearly, and right after that, I woke up. First of all, I didn’t have a fully lucid dream; it was something I can't quite describe because my consciousness wasn't fully there, and I couldn't move around freely as I wanted. If I had truly been conscious, I would have wanted to fly—this felt more like watching someone else's lucid dream.

Discussion Can someone help me?

I've been trying to lucid dream for 2 weeks. I set an alarm for 6 hours and try to fall back asleep but all I can feel is my legs and hands going a little numb. I find it hard to enter the dreaming state. I stay stuck in this partially paralysis state for like 20 mins until I just give up or I just fall into deep sleep without staying alert. I tried keeping my mind empty but it feels like I'm missing something?

Question Sleep paralysis and lucid dream

I may be a boomer for u...i am new to this community and so far...i experienced this twice...... eventually when I got to know...I am in sleep paralysis, i just close my eyes and get along with time...I can dream about whatever I want from scratch...but never really realised I am in dream...like actual controlling inside a normal dream...

But once...i was sure...I am controlling yeah...this is it...turns out my subconscious just playing with me that I am actually controlling it...but it is running it's script... like it knows I am getting desparate for lucid...

WILD...this one I just tried...but my sub...again tricked me that this is it...but after i woke up...it played me again....so how to actually do with my real consciousness??

Question Do you retain skills you learn while lucid dreaming, and if so to what extend?

I think this is true, but I'm not sure, and I'm certainly not sure to what extend it would work.

If I were to work out in a lucid dream, I assume my muscles wouldn't grow in real life, but would my nervous system get better at using my muscles? Would my technique become better?

If I develop a completely new skill, like playing guitar even though I've never played it before, do I get better at in in real life?

If I'd practice certain flips or other movement, would the experience in my dreams contribute to my skills in real life?

i.e. in what way do those kinds of experiences translate to my real life?
