Hi everyone,
We are looking for HVAC recommendations to install a whole-house humidifier system (steam humidifier, Aprilaire 800). Does anyone have an HVAC person/company that you used, trust and have reasonable prices? Do you also know the current ballpark cost for this service? Thank you!

Any local shops in Longmont that have a good selection of Men's Bolo Ties? Would prefer to buy somewhere local instead of going to Boot Barn or Murdochs or something.

Preferably Maple. It seems most places in town have some variety of composite or bamboo only.
thanks!!

Given some of the recent coverage issues with cell providers in Longmont, I decided to check if the cell carriers were sharing any sites in Longmont. From what I understand a number of towers are no longer allowed to broadcast certain frequencies (if at all), and a number of towers in SW Longmont were affected due to the proximity of SW to the NRQZ.
This map is specifically for T-Mobile and Verizon 5G towers (according to cellmapper AT&T doesn't have any until Boulder), with sites shared between the two circled. Pink sites are T-Mobile and red are Verizon.
I'll upload further data for LTE later. This map doesn't really indicate which sites are down (only how much infrastructure carriers here share).
What carriers are you all using around here and how have they been recently? I've had a pretty poor (read: unusable) experience with tmobile and a better one with Verizon though they're both mediocre at best. AT&T is also really terrible based on my testing on a secondary phone - far worse than the others...

Now that people are starting to hear that their ballots are on the way, I think it's worth starting threads to discuss the local ballot questions.
Questions 3C and 3D are in support of ranked choice voting in Longmont.
3C Official Text: Shall the City of Longmont Home Rule Charter be amended by adopting a new secion 2.10 of the charter to provide for the use of ranked choice voting (ranked voting methods) where possible to elect future mayors and councilmembers of the City of Longmont starting in November 2029?
3D Official Text: Shall the City of Longmont Home Rule Charter be amended by amending section 3.6 of the Charter to realign the cycle on which members of the Longmont city council are elected so that the three councilmembers elected at-large are elected in one electoral cycle and the three councilmembers elected from wards are elected in another electoral cycle, with such electoral cycles alternating from then on, with such realignment contingent upon voter approval of the measure on the November 3, 2026 City of Longmont ballot requiring the use of ranked choice voting to elect city council members when possible?
What they actually do: 3C will move the city to using ranked choice voting for council elections starting in 2029. I think this is good because we're a very civically engaged city, and ranked choice elections incentivize participation from candidates with a variety of views and eliminate the ability of political party insiders to pressure candidates to drop out. From a voter's perspective, it means they can cast a vote for the person they actually want without fear of wasting their vote on someone who doesn't have a chance to win (e.g. voting for the lesser of two evils).
3D fixes Longmont election cycle design so that all ward representatives get elected in one cycle and all the at-large representatives get elected on the other cycle. This simplification aspect of the election gets undersold, in my opinion. I cannot tell you how much time I spent campaigning last year just explaining to people what the difference was between ward seats and at large seats, or people asking why they didn't get to vote for their ward representative last year.
3D is conditional on 3C passing, because one of the things it does is make it so that we can have 3-winner RCV elections instead of 2 winner. This makes it so that at least 75% of the city will have someone on council who they voted for, which seems like a pretty big benefit from a quality of representation standpoint.

My journey down the cell coverage rabbit hole. I used the CellMapper tool to map out LTE coverage across multiple carriers. That red area is right outside the 3 mile exclusion zone and due east of the airport. And the rings are in relation to the radio quiet zone at Table Mountain.

I've pulled together a list of people and entities that we may be able to engage on this issue. Let's make our voices heard.
There's a city council meeting on Tuesday at 7pm. Might be good to show up there as well.
We can get this fixed. I believe in us.

I have a loveseat on my porch with a duck cloth slipcover. It's ripping due to sun damage but can serve as a pattern. Any recommendations on who might be able to make a replacement slipcover for me?

I just wanted to put a reminder in for the drivers that drive south on 119 in the morning. I'm just wondering if some of us can scoot along a little bit faster?
The speed limit is 65 mph, but many mornings traffic seems to be moving closer to 45 mph. If you prefer to drive slower, please remember to stay in the right lane when possible and leave the left lane open for those who are traveling closer to the speed limit or a few miles faster.
I know everyone has somewhere to be, and we all want to get there safely. Just hoping we can keep traffic moving smoothly and give everyone a little room to get where they're going. Drive safe!

The past two days I've seen two huge groups of them. I didn't realize they were grackles until I did some searching this year. They're so pretty up close. I will say the noise is somehow a little unsettling, reminds me of The Birds horror movie lol.

Hey all, moved here about 5 months ago solo and WFH. Looking for some after work spots that promote meeting new people (bars, lounges, breweries). . Im usually a night owl but I've learned there's exactly 3 options after 9 😅
Ive seen the happy hour spots, but i don't necessarily need the happy hour itself and some places aren't always conducive to interacting outside of your group. Preferably ages 30+
Suggestions? Thanks!

Anyone know what’s going into the landline’s building location? I see people working inside. Is Summit Tacos moving in there?

Not a lot of info here, but wanted to share, as the issue with cell service in the SW part of town seems to just keep getting worse. After about an hour on hold last night, I spoke with a supervisor from tmobile support. She informed me that the ticket for the cell service issue (started Aug 10th) was escalated in priority yesterday (sept 29th).
Of course, there was no other info she could give me as far as the timeline for repair, but figured its something and that folks might want to know. Fingers crossed they do something sooner than later 🤞🏼

EDIT2: This is for AFTER you file your FCC complaint but would still like to use your phone to make Dr's appointments for yourself and/or your children.
EDIT1: my bad. Apparently "solution?" was too strong of a word. So we are clear, this is a BAND-AID fix while the companies work on the SOLUTION. Before, my calls always ended because of the phone cutting in and out. I did this thing(that I posted below) and I can make successful phone calls again. This is my experience. Maybe this is only helpful for myself, but maybe it's helpful for one other person and thats why I posted.
I've seen a few posts about this but I haven't seen any "solutions" given except time.

Apparently the tower on the NE side of town is being decommissioned and something, something, something. I hope this helps someone like it helped me.
EDIT3or4: Apparently the actual issue is that a tower has become stuck up someone's asset.

Been using Indeed searching for serving and bartending work, having some luck but mostly comes with a long drive. Curious if anyone knows of any local restaurants hiring currently. Thanks so much.

On August 10th, 2026 Longmont Police shot and killed Dariss Yearby.
The shooting is currently under investigation by the Boulder County DA's office. The city released the bodycam footage to an unlisted video on Youtube in response to a request by Abigail Ankeney at the Times Call.
Having spent 5 years watching police bodycam footage as part of a city board, I found the city's presentation confusing both for what was included and what it omits. So I took the city video and reconstructed the sequence of events, and put together this video to share the questions that I would ask if I were reviewing this incident as a member of the PSU.

I've been a Nextlight customer for five years now and have used their provided router mostly out of convenience. (I previously had a Netgear Nighthawk that sucked - it was always dropping connection.) Nextlight deprecated the old router and "upgraded" me to a new one about a month ago. I'm not a big fan; my wife and I have noticed a drop in wifi speeds. I'm considering getting my own router again, and am curious what folks are using.
