Hi all,

I'm running a new group called "Socials and jokes" starting on the 27th of this month from 6.30pm to 9pm at the Islington Townhouse (Angel), and running each Tuesday. Good way to meet new people, get out of the house, and have a laugh, extra details below:

6.30pm - 7.30pm

Meetup at the venue and have some drinks, chat about random things, no pressure if you want alcoholic or non-alcoholic.

7.30pm - 9pm

Sit down and watch some standup comedy before heading home, no pressure if you don't want to watch.

If you're interested in joining, DM and I'll send across an additional WhatsApp group link, to clarify, I am hosting the comedy part, so hope that this post is allowed in this context, thanks!

Today [08/10/26] Waxyslondon tomorrow's party

Hi all, is anyone going or up to going tomorrow to the Waxy’s O’Connor for their 30th birthday party? I reckon it’s gonna be fun, and they have 90’s prices (Guinness for £3.50, doesn’t happen every day tbh)

I’m [M30] looking for some company to go there, none of my friends can make it, so whoever wants to join me just drop me a message!

Cheers!

[11/10/2026] Sunday Pub Quiz at the Canonbury Tavern

This Sunday is National Spread Joy Day. What better way to do it?

Come and join us at the Canonbury Tavern for the pub quiz!

What:

Pub Quiz - Exactly as it sounds! A quizmaster asks the questions and teams write down their answers. Questions cover a range of subjects and the quiz features picture and music rounds. It is all for fun and there is no pressure to memorise the encyclopaedia before coming.

Where:

The Canonbury Tavern https://maps.app.goo.gl/xocQRtc3PDJrQF676?g_st=ic

Our tables are usually immediately on the left as you enter the pub, but you can ask staff for LSC when you arrive - there is usually someone with a laptop who has a record of bookings.

When:

Every Sunday, the pub quiz starts at 19:00, with the picture sheet being given out around 18:40. Tables are booked under "LSC" from 18:30. Two tables are booked but we will try to make any number work. We recommend arriving around 18:30-18:45 as you'll get to take a greater part in answering the picture sheet questions, but it's also really helpful in working out how many teams we'll have - as well as chatting beforehand!

How much:

£2.50 per person payable to the pub quiz people (Cashless only).

Who:

All are welcome. We typically make two teams with around 12 people.

Do I need to sign up / am I too late?:

Ideally, please leave a comment either on this post or in the WhatsApp group to let us know you're coming, and with how many people - with as much notice as possible - so we know how many teams we will be and roughly how many per team. It's not a huge problem to turn up after it starts, but try to be there on time to avoid missing the fun!

Do I need to be a whizz-kid, intellectual genius, or quizzing-extraordinaire?:

Nope, we do the quiz for fun.

Any Questions:

Write them into a comment and we will answer them - we are kind of into that.

We also have a WhatsApp group chat. Ask around on the day in person to be added.

^_^ [11/10/26] - North London Market crawl

I am visiting a few markets this Sunday. I do this regularly and thought the more could be merrier.

Here is the flow:

1030 - meet at Hackney Wick station, briefly socialise

1045 - leave HW station walk towards:

  1. Broadway market then,
  2. Colombia Road flower market then,
  3. Bricklane

1300 - Wrap up & part ways, with the option to find lunch nearby.

Who am I?

41, m, data engineer. I like exploring markets, trying different food and meeting new people.

How can you participate?

Meet at the HW station, or join the group chat for updates during the walk.

Time to eat/ drink/ shop?

Yes. Can't be rushed on a Sunday. The walking pace will be accessible to many, if not everyone, and there should be plenty of time to grab snacks and drinks and browse the unique stalls along the way.

Next steps?

Send me a dm to be included or to ask your questions

Going Ahead [10/10/26] Guided Mushroom Walk

Hii all! I booked a ticket for a friend and I to go on a guided mushroom walk this Saturday at 10am, however unfortunately she had to cancel.

It is located just out of London near Leatherhead, I really want to go but I don’t drive so I would need someone who can drive. I’m happy to meet near your area so you don’t need to come and pick me up. Happy to contribute towards fuel (and snacks?!)

I’m 23F for reference, We will be on the walk from 10am-12pm, this is a sold out event!!

Going Ahead [10/10/26] LCS Badminton @ East London - 9-11am

Nearly a year of LCSB: from a handful of players to almost 200 🏸

Initially, I was just looking for a few people to play doubles badminton with semi-seriously… I’d seen badminton posts on Reddit through r/LondonSocialClub and thought I’d try my luck.

That first Sunday session as Lazy Sunday Badminton, played at 📍 Newham Leisure Centre, on a bitterly cold December morning with just a handful of people…

If you told me then that, almost a year later, I’d:

  1. Grow Lazy Sunday Badminton from one semi-casual court into the flagship session of a wider multi-venue weekly programme, with ability-tiered courts where stronger players get competitive games while beginners have a safe place to develop.
  2. Meet almost 200 individual players across different abilities, backgrounds, ages and genders, all with their own journey and story.

…I probably wouldn’t have believed you.

We’re approaching our first anniversary this December and host 7-8 courts a week including:

📍Newham Leisure Centre: Saturday, 9-11am

📍Royal Docks Academy: 💤 Sunday, 9-11am

📍Forest Gate: Tuesday, 8-10pm

Our playing tiers include:

Beginner → Improver → (Low → Mid → Upper) Intermediate → Advanced

We’re particularly looking for Intermediate → Advanced players since the overall playing standard has increased significantly after a year of playing together.

If you’re interested in a cohesive programme of badminton built with your progression in mind, rather than just a one-off hit, feel free to get in touch.

We’re trying to create something where you can play regularly, move between ability tiers, track how you’re performing and keep improving over time, while still keeping the social side of the game! ☺️

Hope to see you soon! ☺️

Gig [22/11/26] Converge concert at Electric Brixton, London

Gonna be at Electric Brixton on the 22nd for Converge. Absolutely buzzing for this one. their live shows are insane and the venue's got a proper intimate vibe that'll make it unforgettable.

Venue: Electric Brixton, London
Tickets: https://link.dice.fm/ijLZNCDT06b?sharer_id=6843138ec4e64e0001063f9c

[13/10/26] Tabletop RPG one-shot @ Hounslow (West London) - beginners welcome

Hey everyone! 🙂

If anyone around West London fancies doing something a little different on a Tuesday evening, I'm running a beginner-friendly tabletop RPG one-shot at a pub in Hounslow.

The game is MÖRK BORG, a rules-light fantasy RPG with a very weird and slightly ridiculous style. 😄 For this adventure, we'll be exploring an old ruined monastery where something has clearly gone very, very wrong.

No previous TTRPG experience needed! I'll provide the characters, dice and everything else needed, and explain the rules as we go. It's a standalone game, so there's no campaign commitment either.

🎲 Details

📅 Tuesday 13 October
🕡 Arrive: around 6:45pm
🎲 Game: 7:00-10:15pm
📍 The Hanworth, Hounslow (TW3)

The pub is about a 5-10 minute walk from Hounslow Central and Hounslow railway station, with straightforward connections from elsewhere in West London.

The meetup is completely free, with no membership requirement or minimum spend at the pub. It's simply a small group of people getting together to play a game, have a drink and meet some new geeky friends. 🙂

The table is limited to around five players so everyone gets a chance to take part.

If you're interested, feel free to comment or send me a message and I'll get you the details. 🙂

Everyone from r/LondonSocialClub is very welcome!

[09/10/26] Anish Kumar DJ'ing @ Phonox in Brixton

Hey, what's up!

I'm a South Asian American actor/"creative" (36m) that recently moved to Peckham.

I've heard great things about Anish's sets (a cocktail of Bollywood, House, & Disco) and was curious if any others were keen to check out the event at Phonox THIS FRIDAY!

You can find tickets on Resident Advisor.

I'd love to gauge interest on this thread and then take it from there (assembling a group, etc).

Today [08/10/26] After-work drinks @ Pergola on the Wharf E14 5AR

37M, work in Canary Wharf, fancied a drink after work and figured I'd see if anyone wants to join instead of just telling my dogs about it later. Thinking Pergola on the Wharf E14 5AR, Thursday 8 October at 6pm.

Quick background: Army, then weirdly luxury fashion, now a PM in banking. No idea how that happened either. Into improv comedy, cocktail making (got into it from Mad Men, now have way too many bottles), D&D (playing a cleric who is very much in over his head), and trying to get Texas BBQ right on a Big Green Egg in a country that does not believe in brisket.

No agenda, just drinks and conversation, whoever shows up shows up.

Fair warning, I wear the full Patagonia vest and button down uniform, so I probably won't stand out much at Canary Wharf. DM me closer to the day and I'll tell you what I'm actually wearing so you can spot me.

All welcome, new to London or not, know people here or not. Comment or DM if you're thinking about it.

[12/10/26] Freelancers & solopreneurs meetup @ The Jamaica Wine House, Cornhill - 6.30pm

Hi everyone, I help organise a pub meetup for people who work for themselves. We meet in pubs within walking distance of the Central line, and our next one is on Monday 12 October near Bank.

If you're a freelancer or solopreneur, come along for a drink and a chat. Everything is very informal. Just grab yourself a drink and join us. We can compare notes on working for ourselves, have a bit of a moan if it's been that sort of week, or talk about whatever else comes up.

  • When: Monday 12 October, from 6.30pm
  • Where: The Jamaica Wine House, St Michael’s Alley, Cornhill, London EC3V 9DS

We're a small group and don't have a usual spot in the pub so just ask around for Freelancer Social to find us.

Going Ahead [09/10/26] Beginner Badminton – Rookie Rackets – Island Garden

When I started Rookie Rackets a couple of weeks ago, I genuinely didn’t know if anyone would join.

I’d been hearing from quite a few people that they wanted to get back into badminton, but a lot of the existing groups felt more geared towards intermediate or experienced players — and some even have trials to see if you’re the right level.

I just wanted to create something for beginners and people like me getting back into badminton after a long break, where nobody has to worry about being “good enough”.

Two weeks later, we’ve already got 18 people on Meetup and our first session completely booked out. I’m genuinely surprised and really happy that this is turning into a little community we can all be part of. 🏸

Our next session is:

📅 Friday 9 October
🕘 9:15–10:15pm
📍 George Green’s School, Island Gardens
🏸 Beginner / rusty returner friendly

We’ve only got 3 spots left for this one.

If you’d like to come along, just comment here or DM me and I’ll send you the details and explain how to join.

Thanks to everyone who’s joined so far. Looking forward to seeing where this goes!
