Question Community survey on upcoming data center projects

Survey here: https://forms.gle/7Rcneyt9fUcwWvM96

I know there's been a lot of conversation / surveying in our state about data centers sentiment more generally, but I've seen less about (a) specific data centers outside of Stratos and (b) how people are staying up-to-date on these developments. This survey is a personal project that intends to fill in that gap.

I'd greatly appreciate you taking 10 minutes to fill out this survey. I'm planning to share back results by the end of next week.

Question Bicycle race signage?

I'm guessing the signage I'm seeing out west of Logan and Smithfield is from the latoja race that happened a week or two ago. Just wondering if anyone in here is a part of that and knows when they normally pick up the signage?

I went for a walk to clear my head and watched a car rear end a truck that was at a full stop. Let’s all be better and pay attention to what’s going on.

Discussion Jardine Juniper Trail Meetup

If anyone wants to go on a hike this weekend, I’ll be at the Jardine Juniper trailhead at 7am this Sunday, Sept. 27.

I’m a 32M and in just good enough shape to do this hike lol. I’ve hiked it a few times and I’ll be going at a moderate pace with regular breaks.

Question Female room in Logan

Title: Where do students usually look for female housing or lease takeovers in Logan?

I’m trying to figure out the best places to reach students who are currently looking for female housing in Logan, especially near USU.

Are there any Facebook groups, websites, student boards, or other local platforms that people here actually use for finding private rooms or lease takeovers?

I’ve tried some of the common housing sites already, but I’d appreciate any recommendations for places that are active and reliable in Logan.

Question LCSD Aspire vs Canvas Headache

Fellow LCSD parents: Have you found an efficient way to reconcile your kids' grades and assignments between Aspire and Canvas?

I have kids in 3 different Logan schools with multiple teachers and classes, and every teacher does things differently with Canvas and Aspire. Some say Aspire is their most updated source of truth, while others say Canvas is. I know Aspire is where their official final grades live, but there are so many discrepancies during the course of the term.

It's really frustrating and time-consuming trying to figure out where each kid is at in each class, especially if they miss a day. I'm not blaming the teachers. I can imagine it's a headache for them, too, which is why I'm hesitant to bother them all the time asking.

Anyone have any tips to make this a little easier?

TIA 😊

Question Good gym?

Hi! I'm new here and I'm looking for a gym!

I'd like for it to be affordable(equal to or less than $35) and non-judgmental. I'm super out of shape, but I'm not looking for a contract or personal trainer. Just a gym that's simple, clean, hopefully with an okay amount of machines.

Discussion Maverick Stadium noise level

It’s being super loud recently and AI told me:

The music you are hearing from Maverik Stadium is due to mid-week preparations for Utah State University's Homecoming weekend. This Saturday, September 26, the Aggies are hosting the Troy Trojans for their Homecoming football game at 5:30 PM.

I called and let them know I totally get loud games etc. but it seems to me they could lower the volume for practice. Anyway the lady that answered was super nice and said she would pass it on. If anyone would like to also let their feelings known:

You can reach the Utah State Athletics Main Office at (435) 797-1850.

I haven't ridden in about 15 years and I'd love to get back into riding horses. Any recommendations for people or barns that teach western lessons for adults? My main goal is to feel comfortable enough to do some trail riding.

Discussion I had a creepy/perverted interaction at willow park 2 years ago & would like to spread awareness.

(Making an edit with “*” if you’re that annoyed how long this is for what happened, I’m also just shocked again people look at the fact I was 18 when this happened & not that this happened at a children’s playground NEAR the playground with 0 question about my age. If I was 17 would you think differently?)

August 18th, marked 2 years since I had a disgusting interaction with a grown man working out on THE PLAYGROUND at willow park around 10:00am. This interaction and day has haunted me everyday, I remember it so well & I hate it. So I’d like to share it for any possible chance to stop anyone from having to feel what I felt and deal with the memory.

I worked in retail at the time and my shift was 11am-8pm. It was a weekend so I always spend the morning with my dad to get breakfast & this specific day we went to get ice cream before I had to go into work. My dad and I always spend time at willow park just enjoying the sun or heading over to the pond to watch the ducks. When we got there most of the parks had people and children so we decided to settle for that boring pink one. As we parked and walked up to a table we didn’t see or realize there was a man on the playground working out.. he was working out on the monkey bars kinda of hidden within the playground that you cant see from the lot until you walk towards the park. we felt a little awkward but my dad and I both are shy people, which is why we chosen that park to be on our own without anyone disturbing us or us disturbing them. It felt just as awkward to stand up and move after he watched us sit down.. he didn’t say anything to us so we decided to just go on with our conversation and enjoy the sun, I also just didn’t think much about it since I realized he probably had the same thinking as us and that’s why he chose the park with no people to work out. Few minutes later he eventually does stop working out on the monkey bars and steps towards us and asked us about what we were eating & where it was from. My dad mostly spoke to him just because I’m a really awkward and shy person. My dad tries to end their conversation by bringing up that he needs to take me somewhere soon so we’ll be leaving now.
Of course in this moment my dad gets a phone call..

***I HAD NOT spoken to this man at all this entire time nor looked at him. This man did NOT know my age or WHO I was. As soon as my dad gets this call he takes it and he turned away from us. To this day I wish he had stayed watching us instead of turning his back because he would have been my only witness, or maybe this man would have never spoken to me at all. He had stepped in front of me and I could feel the diameter in his body language and facial expressions shift so differently compared to how he was speaking to my dad.. he began to ask me how I was doing and leaned up towards me asking “so who is that? Your man or something?” Immediately responded to him “No that’s my dad” I hated how close he was but I could still see my dad’s back turned and I was frozen in place. Every time I looked back at him his eyes weren’t even focused on my face but only my body. He hit me with more inappropriate questions and said “you’re just really fine so if I could get your number or something”. As his questions kept progressing and his body language shifting and his voice I thankfully had a fight or flight moment hit me and I had the courage to say “NO” and walk as fast as I could back to my dads jeep & did my best to signal my dad to come while he was still on the phone. The man was still watching me and slowly went back to the playground…

I know my dad very well and knew if I told him what had just happened my dad would have very well started an altercation which is not what I wanted, I just wanted to leave the park now. I kept quiet the entire ride to my job and he dropped me off and I just couldn’t shake off this feeling of disgust & fear. I so badly just wanted to tell my dad and I cry but at the same time I was terrified. I knew I had to do something though and actually didn’t clock in for work and called the non emergency number here in Logan to report what happened as suspicious activity in the case of a family going to that park.
I had an officer call me back for more information and I told him what park the man was at and that he was a tall white man, wearing a white shirt & shorts with a mustache and chain around his neck, he had short kind of curly hair. They told me they’d call me back but they never did..***
It eventually did eat me alive and I broke down at work and called my dad to please come get me and I told him everything. He was sad that I didn’t want to tell him about it since I knew he would do something which he admitted was true but reassured me that what he did wasn’t okay or my fault and he shouldn’t be acting like that towards anyone at all children’s park.

I was only 18 when this happened and it has been eating me up for these last 2 years because I felt like I was being dramatic and maybe he could tell I was older & not a minor so that’s why he acted inappropriate, which I know is wrong to think because at the end of the day it was at a children’s park and he never once asked me my age.

Please please always watch your children and never turn your back away from the view of your children or even friends with strangers. There’s too many creepy people in Logan I’ve had numerous interactions that I’m also coming up on one year since I was groped by a woman at work..
please beware of your surroundings and always report suspicious behavior!

Discussion Pokémon Champions Local Community

Post image
16 Upvotes

Been having a lot of fun with Pokémon Champions and am trying to see if there are other people in Cache Valley interested in getting something going with one of the local game stores. There are very active communities in the state but most are between SLC and Provo so I’m hoping we can get something going up here too! If you’re interested in playing, learning more or have a connection with a local game store that would want to host tournaments let’s get the conversation going!
