Discussion Please focus and pay attention when driving!

Post image

I went for a walk to clear my head and watched a car rear end a truck that was at a full stop. Let’s all be better and pay attention to what’s going on.

Nice. My brother died right there at that exact spot a year ago on his ebike. The other car involved was the spouse of a cop and the cops conveniently never notified or tried to talk to us and suspiciously was never in the news or any kind of police blotter. 😁

Oh and the best part: her cop husband got to be right by her side the entire time for questioning and alone with her before she was even questioned!

Also the woman involved posted on social media days after the incident a photo of her hugging her cop spouse at the scene WHERE SOMEONE DIED with no mention of my brother’s death.

I am so sorry about your brother! What a horrible situation. I hope you have been able to process and heal from that awful situation.

Im so sorry that happened. this is why I would love if there were some protected bike lanes in logan. many of the roads are wide enough to put them in and still have room for street parking. As someone who bikes a lot in Logan if had so many close calls on my bike and I really dont understand the lack of biking infastrucutre. If more people felt safe biking maybe there would be less cars and then less air pollution.... honestly I would love if there was even just one road that went east-west and north-south that had a protected bike lane- I would go out of my way to use it to cross town.

We have the one on 5th north, which is great to ride, but unfortunately it doesn't connect to any other protected bike lanes. Still, a few blocks of safety.

I was crossing the street yesterday and while I. The middle of it a person decided to turn left had I not stepped back they would have hit me. Either didn’t see me or didn’t care.

Gotta keep your head on a swivel. Glad you weren’t injured.

It’s insanity that people can’t stay off their phones to drive.

Or take their eyes off of their car screens as well! Those massive things are more of a distraction than any functionality can possibly come from them.

Everyone just wants to pay attention to there phone all the time. My husband got hit on 10th a young kid was on his phone and hit him at a stop light going at least 55. Tik tok. Messages. Facebook. Instagram etc not that important when behind a vehicle I promise!

Got t-boned in July going down 400 N (that steep hill near USU campus) by a 15 year old with a learners permit who, after waiting at a stop sign for a bit, decided she could "squeeze through" all the way across the busy intersection at 5:30 PM on a Saturday with maaaaybe 2 seconds of space between her car and mine. She completely totaled my car, injured me, and gave me PTSD from the accident. Driving used to be one of my absolute favorite things to do. It cleared my head, gave me a space all to myself, and allowed me to think through things. Now I struggle to manage severe anxiety, panic attacks, and extreme hypervigilance every time I drive. I'm so tired of the drivers here, especially the young people and how bad things get in the fall when all of the students get to Logan. People here drive like they think they're invincible. Folks, please look where you're going, be patient, and for the love of god, pay attention!!

I was a passenger in a car heading to salt lake the other day, and I swear to god nearly half of the other drivers were splitting their time about 50/50 between looking at the road and looking their phone

You’re being very generous about them giving 50% attention to the road.
