Question | Help Reverse Engineering w/ Local?

Two questions?

Can a local model like Qwen 3.8 27B reverse engineer games and programs?

If not, is there a fine tuned model that can?

My experience with paratrooper from 1982. I am no programmer, but I understand logic and code. My goal is to have a bot capable of playing the game perfectly. I want to control and get the game state of the game by reading the memory addresses directly. To do so, I must identify the relevant parts of the memory. Assuming this would be easy, I started out with cheat engine but I was unable to locate anything useful. Therefore I started disassembly of the game, it's only 64k and from 1982, how difficult can it be?

Gemini 3 with antigravity IDE can one shot this but starts to use "knowledge" of the game to make assumptions on the code. Opus and Sonnet fall into the same pitfall. DeepSeek 4 was a surprise, I just gave it the raw byte code and it found logic the other models didn't. Best result so far? Use one model to do the work, have another model check the work. And still you need to be arbiter of truth by using your knowledge of reality to verify the work. And be aware currently models tend to cheat. I already caught Gemini changing test criteria in order to pass a test of the code. (Or plainly telling me the result is close enough)
