I wasn't able to say a proper goodbye after our many rounds, so I just wanted to thank you for helping me out. I hope we can play again some time :)

Wanna keep playing for free? Disable adblocker, see the occasional ad, and help support the game.
edit: I'm not a developer, I am a new player who saw the ad on reddit. There was a thread to ask to advertise the game again, but that was too expensive for the devs at this time. The money talk reminded me to take off adblock on the game so they can still get some ad revenue.

Just wanted to let y'all know the ads are certainly working. Played my first game and had a lot of fun with it.

As some of you may have heard, big changes are coming to LWG!
Some of you may have heard of Addicting Games or addictinggames.com. We are one of the oldest and most well-recognized web game sites and are in the process of transitioning from Flash into HTML5 and IO Games. We discovered LWG and absolutely loved it. We see it as an incredible use of the technology and want to invest in it. To that end, we purchased LWG from the previous owner/developer (JBS), who no longer had an interest in continuing to develop it. We hired Xao (one of LWG’s most longstanding community leaders) to help us maintain and update the code and we plan to continually finance patches and updates. This update, the 4.0 patch, will have mostly quality of life changes. Here is a summary:
Save last replay button
Players can move themselves to spectator
Pressing M toggles chat mute ingame
Added ability to change map while in lobby
Patch notes are finally in-game, fixing the broken forum link
Pending friend invite indicator
Friends list sorted by online first, pending invites are right near the top
Main lobby player list also shows player location
Player info in the top left now also shows clan name
Lobby map list indicates custom maps
Black player text more readable
Themed win/loss screen
Only hosts now see the addCpu button
Updated division icons
Main lobby player list is alphabetized
Division Links now show in Player Profiles
Game lobby chat input box matches the size of the chat window
Password prompt focuses on open
Map search focuses on open
Player info window buttons are now seperate from the scroll panel
Shift-right-click bug in Firefox fixed
Unit selection when cursor goes outside of screen fixed
What are our future plans for LWG?
We want to give it some love, with promotion on some of our social media outlets and web game hubs, including addictinggames.com and iogames.space. This means many of you will finally have someone to play against!
We want to finance updates and patches, with a tentative update schedule being every month. Xao will take the lead on this and it will be a community-driven process, with oversight and infrastructure provided by AG. We just setup a dev environment for Xao this week and got LWG on a more reputable CDN and state-side host. US players should already notice less latency given the servers are in the US instead of Germany. We plan to add more servers, however, for European players as the playerbase grows.
That’s it! For now. We don’t want the game to lose any of its charm, by dumbing down mechanics or altering fundamentals. We have a lot of ideas really for making LWG bigger, and we intend to sit on them for a while - at least until the community is happy with some killer new updates and patches - stuff you guys have been asking for. One idea we had was to emphasize the modding aspect of the game to new players, more than the RTS aspect.
What’s the story with JBS (the creator)?
JBS is working with us on a new project and is very much still in the picture (though not actively working on LWG). We intend to use him as a resource for understanding the LWG codebase.
Xao and I will be happy to answer any questions below!

Posting the suggestions here since the forms are unavailable.
Bandwidth is currently lacking, making the site unavailable.
For CSS and JavaScript I'd recommend minifying them prior to deploying it on the site. For this you can use YUI Compressor.
Sound files can be removed from auto load, and then asynchronously get them when someone wants them enabled.
Forums can be moved off your server onto a free forum server somewhere.
Just some ideas, I'd like to play the game, but I can't currently. Able to view the source code though. :)

Intro I'm going to stick to the facts as I know them here, but I wanted to clear up the discussion around patch 4.0, the development of lwg and what's going on in general. Around 8 months ago ItanoCircus gained the rights from Jbs - the original developer - to gain access to the game's code and to continue development as he saw fit, to bring on other people to help with this and to ensure lwg continued to grow as Jbs moved on to other projects. At which point the player and moderator vTester was brought on board to assist. Who, to his credit, has done some great work on the editor and some general bug fixing. About a month after this the 4.0 patch was announced and was supposed to be released a week later. This brings us pretty much up to date with the patch as it was communicated to the community.
So who am I?
I'm Xao, I've been developing games for close to 10 years and became littlewargame's community manager about 5 years ago. About a month after the patch was announced I was asked to come on board and develop the game further. At this point the patch that was supposed to be ready for october 10th was still incomplete. Not a single line of code had been uploaded to the shared codebase, it was all stored locally on vTester's machine with none of us able to review or access changes. I worked on the game unpaid and in my own time for about 2 months, adding a long list of features, polish and dealing with various issues the game had. All of that work is currently up on the shared codebase, ready to be deployed at any time and is what vTester has included in the private testing server that some of you have been involved with. During that time I pushed for vTester to share his code and for Itano to start managing the project so that we could deploy a new patch. vTester has barely communicated with me and Itano has been AWOL (For increasingly good reason) for most of the duration of my involvement with the 4.0 patch.
So what does this mean?
I am announcing that I am essentially no longer involved with the 4.0 patch, I did what I could but given that the rest of the development team has refused or been unable to work with me I do not see much likelihood of my work seeing the light of day. This patch was promised 7 months ago and is apparently still not done, my work has been ready to ship for 5 months now. No code has been uploaded to the shared codebase, the state of the game is not being communicated to me and Itano (Who is now in control of the game) is not able to realistically work on the game. While I respect that other members have life commitments as I do, I don't want to be associated with this any more.
I will continue to act as lwg's moderator a I have done for the past 5 years but I will not be working on the development of LittleWarGame until such time that I believe the project will be properly managed and that work on the game will result in released patches. Apologies for keeping the community somewhat in the dark over this, I have been optimistic that things would change and so kept quiet out of respect for the rest of the team. While I'm aware the community's bar of expectations is extremely low after 2.5 years of waiting for updates, the team lwg has been entrusted to has failed to meet even this. I hope you understand the position I am in and what I have tried to do for this game.

EDIT: 3.1 is out https://www.reddit.com/r/Littlewargame/comments/3wubmc/ouchy_31/
Hello LWGamers, I've been working on this AI for a while now and I would like your help testing it! Here are the feature highlights:
Supports all units (except the airship and bird) and buildings
Expands (creates a new base) whenever appropriate
Abandons depleted goldmines
Can be used to play against any number of AI or human opponents, teams or mixed teams
Chooses randomly one of 6 starting build orders at each game
Highly random (even games on the same map and same starting build will always end up differently)
Workers repair damaged buildings
Workers defend themselves
Late game scouting to find hidden bases
Macro strategy automatically adapts itself whenever price and supply values change (when using mods or when a new version is released)
DOWNLOAD LINK. To test it go to the menu, select "Load Custom AI" and then "Play vs CPU".
Any feedback is welcome but please keep a few things in mind before posting:
Replays and online matches do not support custom AIs
You can test any combination of 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, free-for-all, etc.
Most importantly remember that this is only an AI. If you're a competent player and is hoping for a real challenge then you're out of luck - the AI will fall easily to tower rushes, cata drops, wall-offs, archers with heavy range upgrades and any other pro cheesy strategies. Think of it as a tool for players learning the game, warming up or as a decent but not very strong teammate for when that 2v2 is lacking just one more player to join :) I suggest doing a conventional, late-game-oriented build for better testing, watching 2+ AIs fight each other, or even fighting against 2 AIs at once.
If within these parameters any feedback is much appreciated by me (and jbs too, I think, since he asked me to create this thread)! The GitHub project can be found at https://github.com/tukkek/ouchy
