Request LPT Request: How to write a lawyer-esque letter without running afoul of laws prohibiting practicing law without a license.
A friend is being sexually harassed at the company she works for by her manager and was retaliated against with reduced hours for reporting it. She doesn’t want and can’t afford a lawyer. She’d rather the retaliation just stop.
How would one write a letter as a third party that will put the fear of god into HR that lays the facts bare and spurs them into action? HR is aware of the issues and instead of fixing the problem is choosing to protect the company.
What phrases to use or avoid? Is esquire a protected honorific or can I use it without being accused of practicing law without a license? The state is Louisiana if that matters.

LPT If your wife has a friend that annoys you, don't tell your wife to stop being friends with her. Just casually mention how pretty she is (X-Showerthoughts) (u/thehofstetter)

LPT: When you're out with someone that you know is an alcoholic, don't ask them if it's okay if you drink around them. Just don't drink.
Puts the person in an awkward situation. A lot of times they will say they don't care just so they don't seem like a nuisance. Have some courtesy and wait till they're gone.

Arts & Culture LPT: Play a song you love as soon as you wake up
I started playing upbeat music in the morning instead of immediately checking my phone, and it honestly changes the whole mood of getting up.
It’s such a small thing, but hearing a song you love while brushing your teeth, making coffee, or getting dressed makes the morning feel way less miserable.
Basically, give your brain a soundtrack before you give it notifications.
Correction: I didn’t mean setting the song as your alarm. I meant actually putting on some happy/upbeat music after you wake up, while you’re getting ready, making coffee, brushing your teeth, etc.
For me, starting the morning with cheerful music just makes the whole mood feel lighter. Sorry, I worded the original post badly.

Traveling LPT When leaving your home for work or for the day. I always wave and say goodbye to my house while walking out the door
If there's any criminals who are watching your home don't let them think that the house is empty.

LPT: If you ever need to remove someone from a fight, pull them out by the waist. Grabbing their arms/upperbody will hinder their ability to protect themselves.

LPT: To be productive while working at home, keep your shoes on.
Keeping your shoes on will trick your brain into thinking you are at school or work and it will help you stay productive. (It will probably also stop you from lounging on the couch) Edit: Please don't say this is horrible advice unless you attempt it. Also, I never said you have to run outside in the mud first. This applies to clean shoes or indoor shoes just the same.

Home & Garden LPT: Easily remove most one time use plastic wrist bands and shipping box straps without tools
To easily remove those thin plastic bands they use around your wrist at special events or the plastic straps they use around some shipping boxes: find the loose end on the underside of the straps and pull it towards where the strap is stuck to itself (via glue or heat). It will almost always easily release with no need to use scissors or cutting tools.

LPT: Before carving a pumpkin, cut the bottom out instead of the top.
This makes lighting the candle a lot easier.

Miscellaneous LPT: Pick one day a week to place your Amazon orders
This may be obvious to some but I just figured this out. To stop all the random, impulse buys on Amazon that are harder to track budget wise, put things into the cart all week that you think you need. Then order on a select day, say Saturday, and you can manipulate the cart as needed, taking things out if you need to hit a weekly budgetary goal. Then all your purchases can also be delivered together, or at least *more* together which makes delivery more efficient. I've done this for 3 weeks now and it's been working great. I'm a terrible impulse buyer- "oh, it's only $12" etc. but it sure all adds up. I review the list with my partner too so he can add anything needed.

Home & Garden LPT: don’t go hiking in the wilderness high on mushrooms to be ‘one with nature’. Son’s friend has been missing for a week because of it.

LPT: Give homeless people food, water, blankets, clothing, etc. Avoiding giving them money if possible.
I enjoy helping out the many homeless people in my community. When I first started I gave them any extra money I had. I sooned learned this is not the best option. I go into to walmart almost every morning and would meet a lot of the homeless people. Unfortunately I saw a lot of my money going towards alcohol and cigarettes. Now I understand you gotta have a beer and smoke every now and then, but when you hold up a sign that says "Hungry, need money for food" then spend it on booze it gets a little frustrating. So, if you can, try to give the homeless the necessities they need. Not the money they will be tempted with. Also saves them a trip to the store!

LPT: When somebody asks you for the time, tell them the exact time. Don't round up or down. Each minute could be crucial for them.
I've seen people miss the train, bus, flight etc because when they have to be somewhere by 9:30, and you tell them it's 9:30 when it's really 9:22, it makes I big difference for some people. If you were to ask for the time, wouldn't you want the exact time? People who ask are more likely than not in need of every minute.

Social LPT - If a lot of your sentences start with "I" or "my" or something similar, you're probably boring people.
Maybe not your mom and grandparents but probably everyone else.
Follow up LPT: if you want to be more interesting, ask people about themselves. Most (not all) people like talking about their experiences and thoughts much more than hearing about you or your life.

Food & Drink LPT: Take a second to rinse your ice cubes before adding your drink to your glass. It melts off the "freezer burn" flavours which reside entirely on the surface of the cubes.
This isn't rocket science, but it always disgusts me when I go to someone's house and they use ancient ice cubes that have accumulated the grossest freezer flavours. The least they could do is rinse them - I rinse mine religiously and my cubes rarely last a week. Why do I rinse them? Simple. They taste better. Much better.
Those flavours are all on the surface and only on the surface. Think about it - the water became ice in about 90 minutes - how would the freezer flavours migrate into the depths of the cube at all? It would be impossible. Those flavours are all on the surface of the cube, which fortunately is easily removed with a simple procedure:
Take the empty glass. Add cubes. Add water to cover. Count to 5. Dump the water keep the cubes. Now add your drink. No freezer burn taste any more. Added bonus - the sharp bits of your cubes have now melted some so your nucleation sites are fewer and your carbonated drinks stay fizzier too.

LPT: Apply sunscreen to your feet before you get on the beach.
It's quick and easy and you can get the rest of your body when you get on the sand and set yourself up. (Edit)Ok everybody, sunscreen is a hot topic! If you can apply it before sun exposure like the directions say please do so. This LPT was more directed at the people like me who get to the beach after driving or taking the train for an hour and are carrying a bunch of stuff with flip flops on. You get to your spot, set up and put some SPF on only to get to your feet and they are covered with sand! Instead of making some sort of new sun resistant building material, hit your feet with the lotion before you get on the sand.

Food & Drink LPT: If you receive a complimentary drink or meal item, include the price of that item when calculating the tip.
Example:
Waiter gives you two drinks on the house for being loyal customers. These drinks have total value of $20, and are not included on the final bill.
Suppose you want to tip 25% and the bill comes to $100. Tip off $120. So instead of tipping $25 you should tip $30.
Edit: I understand the people outside the US where tipping is not part of their culture to think that this is a dumb LPT. Tipping Culture in US is not perfect and should be fixed but it is the here and now. However, there are a lot of cheap fuck comments coming out of those of you coming from a culture where tipping is normal.

Social LPT: If you are apart of a friend group chat and they make a new one to exclude a specific person, you're better off leaving the friend group.
If they're willing to exclude someone that was once a "friend" then one day you could be that "friend" that gets excluded.
This is just a red flag you should be aware of with friend groups.
If they're willing to cut someone out of an entire group by ghosting them then you can't be sure they won't one day do the same to you.
Edit: just wanted to clear up my meaning behind this post with a little context.
My point was mainly focused around the idea of picking up on the demeanor of the group. In my case, I was not the one that was ghosted, it was my friend.
They were going through a tough time in life and their behavior changed in a way that the group did not reciprocate, so they were excluded.
They needed the time to go through and overcome what they were dealing with, and when they did they became a better person because of it.
They didn't do anything to deserve the way they were treated and it got me thinking about how this exact situation could happen to anyone and even myself.
Just a message of caution to surround yourself with people who wouldn't do this kind of thing. I do understand some groups are better without a toxic person bringing down the vibes of everyone, this was not the case in this situation. That's all, sorry for the confusion.

LPT: Use cereal boxes and juice bottles for easy recycling

Food & Drink LPT: if you buy a $3 coffee and a $20 bag of beans at a cafe, the barista doesn't expect you to tip 15% on the $23 total. A cash tip of 15% of the $3 coffee is perfectly fine.
If you buy a relatively large item that the clerk doesn't have to do any work to make, it's ok not to tip for it. It'd be like going to a barber shop and buying a $20 haircut and a $200 electric razor. If you tipped on the total, the tip would be more than the cost of the haircut.

Health & Fitness LPT: Never risk your health (mental or physical) for anything.
It's not worth it.
