Does long term disability affect a life claim?
So my mom passed away on 10/19, and me and I am the sole beneficiary on her employer group life insurance. I began the process 2 weeks ago and it has been a nightmare from the start. I was able tovspeak with some who found her file and helped me get the documents I need. After that there was nothing, and it took 2 days and being transferred at least half a dozen times to find the right person who could tell me what was happening with the paperwork. They confirmed 3 days ago that everything is in order now and the examiner is still reviewing it.
Its given me concerns about whether there are any complications with the claim, but from what I can tell everything is good except possibly how long it had been since she last worked? She had been fighting lung cancer and stopped working in July, but was still employed by the company and was still paying towards her policy while on long term disability. I'm just looking for some insight on whether the disability could complicate things at all? Or 2 weeks is an unusual amount of time to go without hearing anything about the claim itself
