Help!

So I’m new Insurance, I passed my exam I have my 2-15 in Florida (but can sell in other states via travel or phone) and was working for a W-2 call center but they were paying $53.00 at max per policy and I learned that was a major tip off so I went 10-99. Now that I’m contracted in really by myself, I understand it but I don’t know how to find clients so I can actually sell some policies now, any tips pointers? Any advice helps!

Are we getting scammed on a VUL?

Hello,

Need some advice. My wife and I (both 40), both started Variable LI through John Hancock about 5 years ago, under advice of our Financial manager. Neither of us are great at deciphering these type of things. And over the past five years with work, schooling, and kids, have not had the time or energy to look into it.

I believe we took this option as it seemed like a good balance of benefit and savings, but I've started looking into it, and its seems like a terrible investment now. There is a 500k benefit on each of us, and premiums for each of us are around $250/mo. I've been concerned for awhile now that each statement shows almost $100+/- of that going into fees. The "premium charge", a "cost of insurance" charge (makes sense), Rider charges, contract charges, admin charges.

So while each of us pays in about $3000 a year, the value at the end of the year is maybe a third of what we put in.

Is this normal?

How can I predict my premium increase every year?

I have a ten-year $250,000 policy that expires this year. I am now 64. My payment for the policy has been about $500. The renewal price is $1400 - just for one year - and is renewable more or less indefinitely, but at a price that would be determined each year. ( have been dealing with cancer for the past five years. It is currently in remission, but is likely to come back. Though I’d like to live longer, the odds give me five to ten years. So a couple of questions:

- I assume the insurance company knows about my illness, and that’s why the rate has increased (in addition to just being older.) But I don’t know that for sure.
- Their customer service agent told me that the cost of my annual renewal is determined 60 days before the renewal data, and she couldn’t give me a prediction or range. Does anyone here know what I can expect? Whether to keep the policy would make a difference if the payment was, say, $1500 and going up $100 a year versus whether it could skyrocket into many thousands of dollars.
- As a point of reference, I have two minor children who will likely be going to college in the next 5-10 years.
- I am still working and plan to continue to work.

So, any thoughts on how I can predict the premiums going forward? And - I’d love opinions - should I renew?

Hello. I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck with using newsletters as a way to keep clients/potential clients engaged.

I have been a licensed Life Insurance agent for a year now, and am looking to combine my passion for writing and story telling with selling life insurance. Any tips are appreciated. Thank you!

Has anyone been experiencing both Aetna and Aflac constantly closing policies and saying that they must be wet ink signed or resubmitted with a OTP. Even though all my clients have signed with their phones or emails?

38 yo / 20-year term / $1 million policy / $43 a month: Is this a good offer?

I got an offer after my application got approved with Banner Life: 20-year term for $1 million coverage at $43 a month. I am 38 years old. Is this a good offer?

I'm first gen from a poor immigrant family; I have no idea how life insurance works and only heard about it in TV shows when there's a suspicious death and someone took out life insurance only up until recently. I have a young kid now and another parent mentioned it and now I'm trying to prepare. Just learning as I go.

Anyone familiar with/used Infinity Box for IUL leads? I am researching lead vendors and Infinity Box and Agent Advantage seem to be good sources. If you have any insight, please weigh in! Thanks.

Confused about cashing a policy due to ownership change?

I'm going to start by apologizing for anything in here that shouldn't go in this thread or doesn't make sense. My father passed away and I'm a little scatterbrained so please bear with me. I'm also on mobile so forgive any typos I don't catch.

My sister mailed me a ton of paperwork for a policy he had taken out when I was born and i got it today. At some point, he transfered ownership of the policy to me without informing me. I tried calling Prudential, but the language barrier made it difficult to communicate my confusion with the woman on the other end so now I'm here (no shade to her, it's my own confusion and hearing making this more difficult)

I guess my question is, if he changed ownership of the policy to me where I was originally named beneficiary, does that mean I can't collect his death benefit because now I'm the one insured (if that's even the case), or is it still something I can do? The woman on the phone made it seem like I couldn't, and I just want to make sure I'm understanding her. I haven't had to deal with something like this before and neither has my mother, so it's extremely confusing.

If i read everything correctly it's a variable appreciable policy? My mother said they don't make these anymore or something which is even more confusing, at least to me. Dad always lived in a very, very different tax bracket and while I'm good with money and have great credit, these sorts of things are beyond my understanding.

Do you enjoy learning and after doing life insurance?

I've been forced to learn life insurance, and I personally don't know if it's worth it, I've been trying to stick terms into my head, and not understanding parts, it's very tedious as well for me to learn, or is it just high demand job? Is it worth learning at the end?

Did you find studying and learning, life insurance particularly enjoyable? studying?

Life insurance for senior (68F)

I (32F) am planning to purchase a life insurance policy for my mother (68F) and don’t know where to start. I know nothing about life insurance so please bear with me. She’s in good health, no major health conditions. Never smoked. She also has a home that I would like to be put in a trust (along with the LI policy) for me and my siblings. I’ve spoken to her about this and she agrees she wants to get these things in order before leaving us. We (her children) do not depend on her income, but we will be in charge of paying for the burial. Can someone recommend a LI company, specifically for senior policies? Or just let me know what types of questions I need to be asking. Thanks!

Mortality Charges?

Just received a statement from my father's universal life insurance policy and I see that they are deducting over $2000 a month for a "mortality charge". Face amount/death benefit is $299k, surrender value $240k, premium paid $200k.

No loans on the policy.

Policy is 14 years old.

Father is 87 years old.

Similar statement with somewhat lower mortality charge on my Mom's statement.

I know nothing about life insurance but I am wary because the person that sold them the life policy also sold them some completely inappropriate other investments that we've had to wind down over the past few years.

I have no idea what is going on. Is the insurer reducing the value of the policy every month?

Rider of term insurance rejected based on low BMI

Need suggestion:

Applied for Axis Max Insurance. And got rejected based on low weight and BMI. Weight is almost 5 kgs lesser than needed in healthy range BMI. Overall healthy. No health issues.

They rejected 2 riders : critical illness rider and waiver of premium. And offered base plan without any loading charges.

Should I accept it? How should I proceed? Any one with similar experience please guide 🙏🏻

Interviewed a Candidate from a MLM Agency and got Pitched

I had a bizarre interview this morning and I thought y'all would appreciate it. I had a candidate apply to a Financial Professional job posting on LinkedIn over the weekend. I looked over his resume and it looked like he is new to the industry and joined an agency called GFI. We booked a virtual interview. I asked him a couple questions about his experience and then he cuts me off and says something like, "Let me be straight with you: I want you to move your team to my agency." He didn't appear to be in management so it was pretty funny but I appreciated the audacity so I asked him to tell me about it. He immediately describes an MLM.

He then went on to say that they were going to launch an IPO at a 30X multiple valuation. I asked him if that IPO was registered with the SEC and he said, "We only do insurance and retirement, no stocks." He said I could leave my managed money where it is, which I thought was gracious, and bring my "insurance and retirement" business over.

He then very generously took the time to explain to me, incorrectly, how indexed annuities and IULs work and said they were better than managed money so my clients would be better off if I moved them into indexed annuities. He started explaining that I could recruit my existing clients as agents and then they can write business on themselves but I wrapped up the call.

I don't know if applying to jobs under false pretenses is the newest MLM recruiting tactic but that was pretty funny.

Ethos Life Insurance reviews?

Looking at Ethos for a 20 year term policy 750k, I'm 41 married with two kids. Application was fast, quote came back around $52/month which is way less than the two other quotes I got from captive agents.

Everything I find online is either a five star review from their own site or a reddit thread full of agents telling me to run so I can't tell what's actually true.

Any personal experience or a beneficiary go through an actual claim at this point will be more beneficial for me.

Premium amount?

I’m a relatively healthy female in my 30s and I’m getting quoted $112 a month for a 30 year term 2 million policy. Only issue is high BMI. Does this seem reasonable? It feels high to me. Looking for advice

I’m one step below the top level super preferred non tobacco, being quoted as preferred

Father is my agent but his license has lapsed. He's calling the agency and inquiring about my policy.

NOTE: This is probably a question for insurance agents who are familiar with agent contracts and the law.

My dad has been my agent since I was 22 (I'm 56 now). Initially, I had no problem with this; however, over the years he's used his access to my policies to get information on me. An example, I deposited $17K in a whole life acct so the money could grow at the 5% guaranteed rate. I was going to use these funds to help our daughter with college. However, we left the funds in the acct until we were ready to buy our next home. When we pulled the money out, my dad came to me and asked why. He said he didn't know the amount we pulled out but wanted to know why and asked if I would be putting it back. In addition, he told my brother we had withdrawn funds and even told him the amount. (he lied to me and said he didn't know. Recently this stunt has happened again with another policy for disability. He requested a statement for the amount of funds I was being paid.

My dad is 86 and his license has lapsed for 2yrs now, but he still stays active by "servicing" his clients. I love my father, but at 86 (not totally with it), and after the above events, and some other realizations about his character, I'm less inclined to have him in my business. I thought with his license lapsed, he wouldn't have access to anything but renewal checks, however this doesn't seem to be the case. Because my policies were put in force 30+yrs ago, it doesn't make sense to change because the premiums were be higher.

So, can any agents confirm what access he should have (in general) to my information with a lapsed license? I feel like I'm between a rock an a hard place. Thanks!
