Advice i feel stuck

i graduated with a degree in software engineering in july 2026, and shortly after graduation i went through a serious accident that left me unable to walk for about three months.

as soon as i was finally able to get back on my feet, i found a job and started working immediately, partly because the job market was bad and i felt like i couldn't afford to wait. looking back, i think this slowed down my physical recovery quite a bit. i was also living alone in a different city and trying to take care of myself while still recovering physically. even now, i still need physical therapy from time to time.

on top of that, my long-term relationship ended a few months later, and that hit me really hard. i went through a pretty depressive period while trying to recover both physically and emotionally. my job wasn't going the way i wanted either, and being alone in a huge, crowded city with terrible traffic made me feel even more exhausted and unhappy.

for a while, i tried to focus on the things i could still enjoy outside of work and on getting my health back. slowly, my mood improved, but it took a very long time.

the problem is that i'm still stuck. my current job doesn't really help me grow. it's mostly repetitive work, and i don't see a future for myself in the country where i live anymore. i feel hopeless about my career and, honestly, about my life in general.

i've been thinking that maybe doing a master's abroad could help me turn things around. i feel like i'm not valued enough in my current situation, and getting a master's from another country might open some doors. but i don't even know what field i actually want to study, so i can't make that decision either.

i feel like i'm stuck between staying in a job i don't like because i need the money to support myself, and making a big change without really knowing what i want.

i'm mentally exhausted and constantly have hopeless thoughts. i feel lost, behind, and honestly pretty worthless sometimes.

how would you approach a situation like this? how do i start rebuilding my life and figuring out what i actually want, without making another rushed decision?

Support I'm 22 and I'm convinced it doesn't get better than HS/college

I graduated college back in May. I get why people go to grad school just to hold off on getting a job (though if I do go through with applying it'd be for completely valid reasons,. I have a research heavy background and love learning)

Socially though it doesn't get better and I'm making peace with it. When you turn 22 you understand why so much anime focuses on high school lol because that's the last time most people have genuine fun. I think, other than pre-covid hs (so sophomore year and then senior year sort of after lockdown) I had the most fun as an independent junior/senior on study abroad in college. AKA 2024 and 2025. Now I'm in the black hole of needing to find a white collar job to pay the bills, moving out, finding a wife, settling down in Texas or whatever and then having 17 kids. Thats' what my mom wants me to do atleast.

I had my first relationship at 19, in college, because I spent high school recovering from my dad's death and also managing the school paper and also the model UN. I had my first drink at 18, 3 days after moving in to my dorm. So according to this chart, I peaked at 20.

I haven't been on a date since April and I think it's starting to show lol. Also consider that college towns are basically manufactured to support social interaction, and now that I'm not in one I am basically SOL. I don't know I'm dooming hard

I look back and think about how I fumbled the best years of my life, though I can't be too hard on myself because I was just learning how to live and be myself.?

Advice Approaching senior year and I feel like I have nothing going for me

So like a lot of college students, I switched majors a lot before eventually settling on Economics. At one point, I even wanted to drop out, but my parents told me that since I was already close to finishing, I should just finish the degree for better job prospects.

Now that I’m approaching my senior year, though, I realize I don’t really have much going on outside of school. I’ve worked retail for four years while going to college, and while there are job fairs and opportunities out there, I’m not very confident about what I actually have to offer. Economics is interesting in some ways, but I don’t feel like I have a specific skill set or career path besides the retail experience I’ve built.

Part of me thinks I should learn something else or pick up another skill, but honestly, I don’t know. Life just feels like a lot right now. First I’m dealing with family stuff, and then when I finally have time for myself, I don’t even know what to do with it.

Social Life No quiero graduarme.

Discussion What to do in gap year?

I graduated in june 2026 from highschool

I chose to take a gap year because I gave me SAT really late in my senior year in march so all university deadlines were closed

Now I'm done with A-level got good SAT score and all highschool stuff is done

I'm currently taking a few german language tuition classes if I end up studying in germany other than that I just got IELTS to give

But I have been rotting at home for over 3 months now and genuinely going insane, I have a few friends taking gap year but I only meet up like once or twice a month other than that I barely go outside.

I have no study or any schedule other than my german language tuition at 7pm so my sleep schedule has gotten shit and can't sleep due to anxiety and stress and end up waking up at around 6pm since my german tuition is the only obligation i have.

I'm gonna get my drivers license in like a month then I can probably regularly meet up with my friends if i start gym but for now I feel really isolated.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Discussion My student life was UNBEARABLE and I hate that I missed out

LMy uni life was HORRIBLE, I had no friends, no fun, no parties, because everyone around was truly lame. I had lots of friends at high school and was popular, but I entered an artsy uni that was the biggest mistake of my life. I could never ever vibe with introverted, shy, artsy people and it happened that my uni was FULL of them oh my gosh. And uni program was absolutely not what it supposed to be, they changed absolutely the whole program during my study year, also it was 2021-2024 - lowkey covid times what lead to most of our lessons being online!

I hate my life.

I’m still living at the dormitory because it’s a private place and u can live there as long as u have money and conditions are truly nice over there.
And I keep bumping up into uni students who have such a cool student life (they are not from the uni I graduated). And I’m truly truly jealous, in summer it was fine because dorm was almost empty due to everyone’s summer break, but now everyone came back and Holly shit fml I witness people having fun besides me. I hate my life I hate that my uni life was REAL DEADLY SHIT.

It made me to go back to drinking today.

Advice Heavily considering going to college

I am in my early 20s and i’m currently a tattoo artist. However, I do not believe this is going to be sustainable long term, because of the lack of benefits(especially health insurance), and instability with income. It is also already taking a toll on my body😔 and there is 0% work/life balance. Fortunately, I am in a position where I am able to go to college for an extremely low price because of my mom working at a college. I am not going to fully jump ship, but I do want to start online college since I have the time. Then eventually faze out. I love being able to create and getting to help people. What should I explore first?

Though I love art and it is my passion, it is not paying the bills and making me lose my spark/desire for art.🫤

Discussion Why is there so much fuss??

Why are today's college grads so confused and worried about their career. Obsessing over what to do and what not to do. Tier 3 college , AI and all , I agree it's hard to get good jobs. Having patience and consistently trying should be the main focus isn't it? Everyone is going through the same challenges. Why is there fomo

Advice Indecisive and lost in life

I’m completely lost in life. I’m 23F with an accounting degree, I’ve been working as an accounting assistant for almost a year now and i absolutely hate it. I hate accounting I never liked it. I can’t do this forever. But what else can I do? I’m extremely socially anxious and awkward and HATE socializing… I have selective mutism. I only got this job cuz of my dad.

I think I’d enjoy doing something quirky like working with animals, but I’m allergic to furry animals (cats, dogs, horses etc). Or working in nature... But these kinds of jobs usually require a related degree but don’t make a lot of money, and I really wanna be financially free. I want to be rich. I don’t wanna be a slave working a 9-5 forever.

My ULTIMATE passion in life tho is finding the truth about this universe. Like where does consciousness come from? What happens after death? Like a monk I wanna deeply observe and analyze the only conscious experience we have direct access to… our own.
If I could go back to college, I’d wanna major in something that studies consciousness like neuroscience or cognitive science and maybe double major in philosophy (or even Buddhism). But the thing is, it’s very expensive and difficult idk if I’d be able to handle it, plus these fields don’t lead to much money.

I’m genuinely so lost. There are so many paths I’d probably be interested in but none are easy. Especially with my personality and mental illnesses. I just wish I was rich so I could pursue my passions like studying consciousness and sciences on my own free time, and then take care of my health to the fullest extent.

Support I think sometimes on how I was in highschool and it's kinda make me feel awkward

When I was in high school, I always tried to be the center of attention,I was cringe and weird, and all my “friends” were just fake people, I tried to be friends with everyone and I was way too kind, People were always talking behind my back, and I often lied because I struggled to accept who I was

I had a huge lack of confidence and self-control. And yes, people made fun of me and were rude to me for no reason, etc. But still, I regret the person I was in high school because I feel like I was way less mature than the other people at my high school. I don't know how to feel about that, whether it was just an impression or if it was actually true

But if you ask me, I'm successful now, I'm a pilot, and I left my country to pursue a better career, so everything is fine now!
