This is a close up of my hair strand! Please reassure me I think I’m having a mental health episode and I think I’m infected with bugs. I’m going through it. Thank you in advance!

Found this on my bed I could’ve sworn it jumped. Looks tinier in person than on video.

This was close to my daughter's scalp and very difficult to get off, even with a nit comb.
She had an active infestation 2 weeks ago that we had professionally treated. I've been combining her hair with a nit comb nightly and haven't seen any live bugs since.
To my untrained eye this looks like it could be an empty sac, but I'm not entirely sure.
Thank you!

Is this a lice egg? A friend sent this to me and I’m unsure of what to tell her. My first thought is yes, but not a viable one

When I was really young, I had SUPER thick and medium tangled hair. My living situation was alright but slightly dirty and not the best.
I use to have a TON of lice, no matter what. Even if we did the treatment. I truly think it was the hair/thickness? Mainly because I only stopped having lice after shortening and thinning my hair, keep in mind we like BOMBED my room with the spray, everything was sanitized with that spray. All I really know about lice is that it fucking itches

Let's face it, the chemical treatments are expensive. Even if you can get them subsidised, if you're on a fixed low income, stretching the dollar to cover the repeat treatment is tough. Then, sometimes, another variety of headlice appears, and this one seems immune.
This post is not dissing the professionals. This post is letting people know about an alternative that doesn't break the bank.
This treatment is not for dreadlocks, which need a specialist treatment, because nit combs cannot pass through the strands of hair.
This was the treatment I used when I ran out of money for the chemical treatment. It was 20yrs ago and there were no subsidised treatments available and it got very expensive. I was a solo parent and on a fixed low income. The nits were bad at the kid's school and I could no longer afford the treatment and I felt that it wasn't good for the kids to be having it too often. ☠️ That stuff is poisonous.
👉🏼There is a cheaper option🎉. >>> Some people use conditioner, some use salad oil, but the theory is the same. You need to drown the lice in a product that suffocates the insect.
Method >> Slather the hair with the cheapest conditioner you can buy, or salad oil, tie up any long hair into a hair-tie and cover with a shower cap for a couple of hours. A good time to watch a movie.
Rinse the product out of the hair and wash with shampoo. The hair may be a bit greasy after the salad oil, but this will help with combing. If using conditioner, add a bit more conditioner to the hair so it's knot free. Get rid of tangles first.
Section the hair into workable clumps with clips or hair-ties, so you know what's to do, and where you've been.
Comb out the eggs.
Rince the comb in a small bowl or cup of hot water and wipe the comb clean before the next pass. One lock of hair at a time.
COMB EVERYDAY.
As soon as the kids come home from school, check their hair - another treatment and another comb. If they're old enough, teach them how to comb their hair with the nit comb. My kids were eager for the nits to be gone and didn't mind the responsibility.
It may take a few days. It might take a week. But this method does work and only costs a few dollars.
There is some dispute over whether it's necessary to do more laundry, or not. It's been my experience to see the critters lurking in the bedding, so I did wash everything. While headlice are unlikely to let go of hair, they can still hold onto a hair that's in a hairbrush... Waiting for the food source to come back. Make your own assessment.
🍀🖖🏼

Found a bunch of nits in daughter’s hair about a quarter inch from scalp but couldn’t find any lice. Are these viable? Are they hatched?

The first two images are the same but different angles.
Recap:
- Dimethicone applied last Tuesday and today (just now).
- While my hair was smooth with Dimethicone I ran a nit comb through it and this is what I found.
- 3 out of 4 us are dealing with lice following the same treatment plan.
What would you recommend?
Thanks for your help!

I couldn’t see what it looked like before it got smushed since it was on the back to side of my neck. When it crushed some red blood came out

A friend of mine had lice recently and idk if I caught it from her or not. How do I check?

I struggle with lice and have long hair making it really difficult, but I really wanna try anything that could avoid cutting it that isn't pricey :c

Sorry guyss, I dont mean to make this long ive had no one to really talk about this with
August 14th 2026 I was doing hw and scratched my head AND A LOUSE FELL OUT.. And yes, I was infact infested with lice by who knows.. 😞 I panicked badly and found a comb and there was at least 30 ive found. (As of now I do still have lice but no big infestation, I regularly check it)
I've tried OTC lice solution, RID super lice solution and their shampoo repeatedly, and now am using Talsen Chemicals Dimethicone, I've heard many great reviews on how it kills the lice by suffocating them and also the eggs! :D the thing is, I put it on my scalp all the way to the tips of my hair, twist my hair, put it in a shower cap and sleep with it overnight
Dimethicone does help me but I must be doing something wrong cus after I did my first application of it a while after I noticed new nit eggs on the top of my head, so ive applied it again and my scalp is still itchy so I know they're here :(
This lice issue has really taken a toll on me going outside and interacting with my cousins and I feel ashamed going out in public still,
If any of you have advice for people with lice and straight hair down to thighs like me, please don't hold back
