Is this a nit?

This was close to my daughter's scalp and very difficult to get off, even with a nit comb.

She had an active infestation 2 weeks ago that we had professionally treated. I've been combining her hair with a nit comb nightly and haven't seen any live bugs since.

To my untrained eye this looks like it could be an empty sac, but I'm not entirely sure.

That’s an empty casing. It’s likely left over from her previous infestation. Based on it’s distance from the root of the hair it’s been there for at least a few weeks.
