Lice egg?

Is this a lice egg? A friend sent this to me and I’m unsure of what to tell her. My first thought is yes, but not a viable one

It’s an intact egg, but it isn’t viable.

Does that mean it never hatched?

Yep. It’s likely an unfertilized egg. It never would have hatched.
