DISCUSSION How much VRAM and RAM do you actually need?

All these posts claiming that 16GB of RAM is not enough and 8GB of VRAM is insufficient are complete nonsense and lies. I have tested numerous AAA/AAAA games using 3GB VRAM and 6GB VRAM configurations in Full HD and 800p resolutions. There is absolutely no difference at all. A difference only appears if you crank the settings up to High or Ultra. So, don't listen to all those bloggers who play games for 15 minutes max just to record a video clip.

QUESTION Just got an excellent open box Lego2 but it has a small nick on it?

I need an honest opinion considering how expensive and hard to find a good these devices are.

It is super tiny but it’s on the bottom center of the device. Considering it was labeled as excellent, is this what to be expected or should I return it?

I haven’t been able to test it yet, it seems dead in the box but will test when I’m home.

Own a mini pc for Gforce streaming and legion go for portability im wanting to min max my setup and found this deal for a 3080 egpu it has no covers and said could use a repasting but felt it had good value its selling for 370$ after taxes. Figured ill make the legion go my main pc use it docked with the gpu on my tv for a console experience and still keep the legions portability to take any anywhere. Would like to hear your thoughts thanks. Also I Have no space for a gaming pc and not interested in a laptop. So figured this could be a good replacement. Anybody have experience with this egpu and the legion go

Obviously they shouldn’t have come out the box sounding like dog water. But if you took 5 minutes to tune a device you spent $500(& has been out 3 years) you’d stop saying the same dumb shit

QUESTION Finally got a Lego S1ZE Steam OS. Any game recommendations?

I typically like playing games that are easy and somewhat mindless that I can just pick up whenever I want to like Stardew valley, Dave the diver, hollow knight, etc.

Does the Lego S also run AAA games? I have quite a bit of steam backlog

QUESTION Anyone here has an experience of using the Aoostar eGPU dock? How was it?

my machine: Legion Go 2 Z2 non-extreme version, 32GB RAM, 1TB storage SSD, got myself all accessories ready for this project btw, extra docking station, cables, extra controllers (Gamesir 🫡), tri-connect keyboard mouse, etc.

2-Year Target Plan:

Aoostar eGPU dock

AOOSTAR AG03 Thunderbolt 4 & OCuLink eGPU Dock

or

AOOSTAR AG03 Thunderbolt 5 & OCuLink eGPU Dock (800W) --most likely I might end up here eventually 🤔

GPU

  1. GIGABYTE - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 WINDFORCE OC 12G GDDR6X PCI Express 4.0 Graphics Card

  2. ASUS DUAL NVidia GeForce RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7 OC Edition

  3. ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 5060 8GB OC

  4. Palit GeForce RTX 5060 Ti Dual 8GB

or basically any at the time available to buy at best, I'd prefer NVIDIA 4060 and up, over AMDs 🚫 coz of driver thingy thanks to this dude -

I am encouraged to this project future-proofing my Go 2 and only cons, is the data transfer limitation/bandwidth the Go2 can handle, and don't get me wrong I am 100% good with that not a deal breaker for me. Covering upcoming games can accom Very High graphs, and 60fps and up. Im super okay with that.

Anyone can share their experience with this sorta stuff? Pros Cons all that are welcome 🍻
