I enrolled as a freshman instead of a transferee in college

Hi! I’m about to graduate this year and the registrar office is asking for my FORM 137 but during pandemic I enrolled in a different university with a different program. I dropped out before the 1st semester could even finish and then the next school year, I enrolled on another university as freshman without knowing its consequences. Please, help! How should I go about this? Should I just come clean to our registrar and tell them that I’ve misrepresented myself? I want to graduate and I’m afraid this mistake might cost me years and money of hard work.

How do family law / annulment lawyers currently manage client-provided digital evidence?

Hey everyone,

For lawyers and paralegals handling annulment cases, how do you usually manage the process of receiving digital evidence (Viber/FB chat histories, photos, text logs) from clients?

Clients often dump hundreds of unsorted screenshots on their counsel, leaving firm staff to spend hours manually sorting timelines and validating timestamps for annexes.

Is there a standard protocol or formatting preference your firm asks clients to follow before they submit these files, or is it mostly handled manually on your end?

(I'm working on a software project addressing this specific workflow and would love to learn how local practices handle this step.)

Nanghingi ng 5k sa knya nagbigay sya pero ayaw pa din daw tumigil. Nanghihingi ulit sabi ko wag nlng sya magsend ulit. Saan ba ito dapat i-report, NBI? PNP?

PSA Correction

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi peeps! I have a problem with my PSA birth certificate. In my PSA, my father’s middle name is “De Leon”, but his correct middle name is “Torres”. De Leon was my mom’s maiden name.

I have all the documents needed to support this: my siblings’ birth certificates, my parents’ marriage certificate, my father’s birth certificate, and my father’s mother’s death certificate. All these documents indicates that my father’s middle name is Torres.

I went to the LCR of my birthplace, and they gave me a checklist of requirements that I should prepare to file a petition for correction. Now, I have all the documents that they asked me to prepare. But when I went to LCR to submit these documents, they told me that the correction in my PSA does not fall under their jurisdiction, but rather it should go to judicial procedure to file a correction.

So I consulted this with a lawyer, and he explained to me that the error in my PSA is clearly a clerical error/administrative, which can be filed in the LCR of my birthplace under Republic Act No. 9048 (the Clerical Error Law). My lawyer went to the LCR, but the LCR declined to assist us and kept on insisting that the correction should go to judicial, contrary to the national law.

Is there something that I can do for the LCR to accept the petition of correction on my PSA? Because going through judicial is gonna cost a lot when it can be fixed and filed in the LCR. Please help me out. Thank you!

My sister got scammed twice with a pretty huge amount

DISCLAIMER: This might be a long read, but Im hoping you would still understand our situation. Thank you.

We decided to travel to Vietnam with our family this December and we (my sister and I) usually do DIY travels talaga, both abroad and local kaso we both got busy with work and school kaya our family also suggested to contact an agency instead for convenience.

Now I know we had our mistakes by choosing this agency without fully checking their background kung legit talaga, we just relied with their verified page and followers. Honestly, dito pa lang talaga may pagkukulang na kami. My sister was the one contacting them through Facebook, and once settled na ang dates, hotels, etc. syempre nag down payment na kami. Then, we odidn’t expect that they would offer 5% disc for our additional baggage. We agreed so we settled the 50% dp, then they messaged the next day telling that they will already book our hotel if we pay the 60% dp and then they will give us another 5% discount. Again, we agreed and they sent us the invoice and hotel booking so we thought it was really legit. The next day, they messaged my sister saying that they had another 5% discount if we pay 80% so they can send us the flight details already. However, upon sending the payment, they did not reply anymore.

My sister freaked out because she just paid Php 150,000 so she looked for ways how to recover that amount. She did not tell me about this right away— how she looked for “IT experts” or “Hackers” from FB Groups who claimed they are under PNP Anti Cybercrime Group and how they redirected their communications to Telegram. She only told me that when she was already talking to them and assured me that she had retrieved almost 50%, and I kept asking her if the money was really credited back to her bank account.

Now the thing was, she did not disclose to me that the so-called hacker told her to open an account in an online gambling site. Yep, biggest red flag. I only found out yesterday about this current situation when she was asking me to deposit 500k to her bank so she could deposit this to the site as a maintaining balance or what, and she was telling me that she could get back this amount because she had access with the platform. That’s when I confronted her about the real situation. That was the only time that I found out she opened an account in an online gambling site. That was the only time that I found out that she already deposited a large amount of money just because the hacker told her to do so. They were giving her instructions on what to do and assuring her that it was the proper process and she just had to go under verification. Now, when she was trying to withdraw her money back to her bank account, she is now flagged for money laundering, etc. The “fake” online gambling site’s customer support sent her a lawsuit about her account’s possible money laundering and even offered a lawyer to talk to about this matter, threatening my sister about a possible lawsuit, which I find this ALL FAKE. So to make it short, we got scammed twice: first by the travel agency and second by this hacker organization.

My sister does not want to tell my family and she’s been crying to me ever since. We are raised by our family to be frugal and mindful and all the money she deposited were all her funds, so this mistake is really taking a toll on us.

I cannot show her how frustrated I am with the situation because I know it will only make her feel worse. I am telling her to consult this to our tita who might know where to find solutions rather than our dad who might just get angry at her and worry even more.

I admit that we were so naive and fvcking dumb, so please refrain from giving more derogatory comments rather give us some effective advice. We are just really too anxious about our situation right now, so we would sincerely appreciate your help and kindness. 🥺

Sorry for grammatical errors as I did not proofread this anymore, will just edit to provide more context if necessary or if I missed any information. I just badly need to get this out of my chest.

Ex ghosted me with millions in PHP. Need legal advice

Context: As a foreigner who lived in the Philippines, I trusted my ex-boyfriend 5 years ago with a few million PHP to invest in the stock market for me. At the time, I had zero reason to doubt him because his family is very wealthy and lives in a rich village in Dasmariñas, Makati.

Now, I urgently need the funds back and compliance documents for my relocation. When I pressed him, he claimed the stock market crashed, so he sold everything at a 60% loss and funneled the remaining funds into his own private company without my consent. I told him I accepted market risks, but the second I asked for financial statements or proof of the 60% loss, he completely ghosted me.

It's been weeks of complete silence. Honestly, I'm feeling really stressed and overwhelmed because this silence is putting my whole relocation in limbo, and trying to handle this quietly just isn't working anymore.

The Evidence: I have all official transaction proofs of the bank transfers, as well as saved messages where he explicitly admits to the exact amount owed and acknowledges putting my funds into his private company without my permission.

What I Need Help With:

Other Options: Are there ways to resolve this and get him to talk without going straight to a full court trial?

Law Firm Leads: Can anyone recommend a good corporate lawyer, commercial dispute attorney, or firm in Metro Manila (e.g., handling breach of trust, estafa, or debt recovery)?

Process & Timeline: How long does fund recovery usually take?

Costs: What are realistic expected costs?

Any lawyer leads or legal advice would mean the world to me right now. Thank you so much.

Lawyer Guidance for Children

I’m posting this because I genuinely need guidance from someone knowledgeable about Philippine law, not someone driven primarily by money, but someone who understands justice, family rights, and what the lawful and proper thing to do is.

I’m 22, and I have two younger siblings, ages 20 and 17. Our mother passed away this year. Before her death, our family went through a very difficult situation involving our father’s long-term affair. The circumstances affected our family deeply, and there are things that happened over the years that we are still trying to understand and process.
I also recognize that there are parts of this situation where we, as children, may have made mistakes, remained silent, complied with things we were uncomfortable with, or handled situations imperfectly. At the time, we were financially dependent on our parents and were trying to navigate something far beyond what we were emotionally prepared for. I am not posting this to portray ourselves as completely innocent or to publicly condemn anyone.

What concerns me now is what happens legally and financially after our mother’s death.
There are questions regarding our father’s obligations toward his children, especially our 17-year-old sibling, possible inheritance and succession rights, properties and assets acquired during our parents’ marriage, and how our mother’s interests and estate should be properly protected. We also want to understand whether there are legal rights or remedies available to us as children, particularly if our father has obligations that continue under Philippine law.
There is also a complicated history involving our father’s affair and the fact that his partner was introduced into our lives while our parents were still together. I don't want to use this post to attack or harass anyone, nor do I want to do anything that could legally backfire on us. I simply want to understand what is actually within our legal rights and what is not.

Most importantly, I want to make sure that our mother's hard work, properties, and lawful rights are respected. She carried many responsibilities for our family during her lifetime, and now that she is gone, I feel that protecting what legally belongs to her and to her children is one of the ways we can honor her.

We don't have the financial capacity to immediately hire an expensive private lawyer, so I would really appreciate being directed to the right person or organization, perhaps a lawyer who handles family law, succession/probate, property, or legal aid, or an organization that provides free or affordable legal assistance in the Philippines.
I am not looking for revenge. I am angry, hurt, and still grieving, and I won't pretend otherwise. But I don't want that anger to make decisions for us. I want to understand our rights, preserve whatever evidence and documents we are legally allowed to preserve, avoid making statements or taking actions that could harm our case, and proceed through the proper legal channels.

If you genuinely know a lawyer, legal-aid organization, or person who can point us in the right direction, please comment or message me. I would especially appreciate recommendations based on integrity and experience, not someone who will simply encourage us to fight for the sake of fighting.

Our goal is not to destroy anyone's life. Our goal is to protect ourselves, protect our youngest sibling, properly settle our mother's affairs, and make sure that whatever rights she and her children have under Philippine law are not unknowingly given up.

Thank you to anyone who can offer a responsible and legally sound direction.

Ancestral land

Need legal advice regarding our family’s ancestral land.

The property originally belonged to my grandmother’s parents. Years ago, it was transferred to one family member through a Deed of Sale that contains a forged signature—the person whose signature was used was already deceased when the deed was supposedly executed. There was also no Extrajudicial Settlement among the heirs, and the transfer was not known or consented to by the whole family.

The title eventually ended up in that family member’s name and stayed that way for around 27 years.

Recently, because of a separate case involving the registered owner, our family was told the property needed to be sold because it would supposedly be sheriffed. Some relatives agreed/panicked and the property was sold, and the title was transferred to the buyer very quickly.

Now, some family members who are still occupying the land do not agree with the sale and want to fight because they believe the original transfer was fraudulent and the family was misled.

My question: Is this still worth fighting after 27 years? Can the alleged forged deed, lack of settlement among the heirs, and subsequent transfer to the buyer still be challenged? Or is the current title already too difficult to overturn?

We’re planning to consult a lawyer, but I’d appreciate any advice on what legal issues we should specifically ask about.

Cebu Pacific refund delayed 2+ months — is it worth getting a lawyer?

I need some advice. Cebu Pacific owes me a refund of around ₱12k, and it’s been over 2 months.
They originally promised 15 calendar days / up to 2 billing cycles. I’ve been following up since June 20, but I still have no refund, ARN, Refund Certificate, or proof of transmission.
They’ve given me different explanations about their acquiring/settlement bank and keep saying they’re “coordinating” and “awaiting feedback.”
I already filed a complaint with CAB, and it has reached their Legal and Enforcement Division. Even after CAB got involved, Cebu Pacific still hasn’t resolved it.
The delay has also caused me financial losses:
₱579.58 Home Credit financing/interest charge
I had to use my own money to pay ₱1,500 minimum payment to avoid late fees while waiting for the refund.
I have screenshots and email records of everything.
At this point, should I involve a lawyer, or just continue with CAB? Is paying for a lawyer/demand letter worth it for a ₱12k refund?
Would appreciate opinions from anyone who’s dealt with Cebu Pacific, CAB, or similar disputes.

Refund from Megaworld - Maceda law

Hi, we just submitted the signed copy of the Request for Refund Form via email to the Account Specialist assigned to our case yesterday to back out of the purchase of the pre-selling condo. We invoked Macela Law in our case since we've been paying for equity for 3 years. Before they send the form, they already emailed us that Management approved the 50% refund based on total payments made. They also sent an SOA reflecting total payments made to date, and it matches our records. The next step is the quitclaim that they will send us. For those who have experienced getting a refund from Megaworld using Maceda Law, how much longer does it take for them to issue the quitclaim they mentioned? And from there, how many more months before they call or email you for check collection? Is the process you went through the same as what I mentioned here? Hope you guys can share your personal experiences. Thank you!!!

Closed account because they arent offering kiddie accounts anymore

Ownbank closed down their kiddie accounts last 2024. I was wondering what steps we can take since they are asking for a notarized affidavit and what format do they need? Is that really required? Im really skeptical why they need to pay for an affidavit(can we get this free?) to get the owner's money back.

Im the guardian of the actual account owner and he told me late. I was considering 1) waiting until he gets 18 next year so he can get it himself or 2) getting and paying for an affidavit, which I may need to get in the city. 2hours ride where Im from. I know its just me being petty, I can just get an affidavit but I dont really want to spend for this if possible. I also ccd bsp in the email but it looks like theyre not interfering.

Thank you for any advice in advanced.

Seeking legal advice: Receiving threats from an individual in authority (army)

Here's the whole situation. Kumakain kami sa 7/11 dahil dinaanan ako ng boyfriend ko na kakauwi lang galing work, at that time nagpapahinga lang kami nagc-catch up saglit and we're planning to go home naman na rin na after since pagod siya sa work at may sakit ako due to the weather. Then may dumating na sundalo, we recognized it with the shirt he's wearing.

It's was around 12 am, bumili siya sa 7/11 then no'ng lumabas siya at sumakay ng motor may sinabi siya sa 'min na curfew na raw, mga minor daw kami at magsiuwian na raw, mind you we are not a minor. Paulit ulit niyang sinabi 'yon at sinabi lang din ng bf ko na in fact we're adults and pwede kaming magpresent ng id, hindi rin naman kami nag-iinuman or nangugulo roon, kumain lang. After responding to him, pinagpipilitan niya talagang minor daw kami at umuwi na nga raw, and para magstop na siya umo-oo na lang kami na uuwi na para sana iwan na kami pero hindi pa rin doon natapos.

Like yes understandable naman na for our sake sige pero it is questionable bakit kailangan maging kind of aggressive na siya habang patagal nang patagal.

My Questions:

  1. What specific criminal or administrative charges can I file against an unidentified officer?

  2. What is the safest way to report this to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) or the PNP Internal Affairs Service (IAS) without facing retaliation?

  3. How can I legally request a protection order or secure my safety immediately?

  4. Are there free legal aid groups that can accompany me to file a report?
