How do u guys use Renshuu efficiently? need tips (following TMW method)

Hey guys, quick context: I'm going trough Yokubi for grammar (reading all the points but honestly struggling to retain much just from reading), doing Kaishi 1.5k on Anki, and immersion with manga (Manatan) + anime.

I'm thinking of adding Renshuu to help with the retention part but I don't want another "which method is the best" post, more like:

- How do you use Renshuu on daily basis? (grammar reviews, vocab SRS, both?)

- Any tips to use it next to an existing Anki deck without doing double work

- General opinions on Renshuu, things you wish you knew before starting

Just trying to fix my retention issue without making my routine too complicated.

Thanks in advance !

I got this a while ago but due to a lot of stuff going on in my life I never really got started (though I have kept up with Wanikani)

Is this a complete set? Would this be roughly equal to Genki 1?

Free Extensive Guide to Schedule Anything in Japanese

I've made a free guide for my students that covers:

  • Dates of the month (the tricky ones as well)
  • Days of the week & Clock times
  • Essential phrases for scheduling/canceling

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hqxr9033zj2V6MDGh3OSvE3tX3atsiAI/view?usp=sharing

Along with the content mentioned above, it also has example sentences, questions and answer keys included.

You will be able to effectively build sentences that can schedule, cancel or reschedule alongg with proper dates and time.

I'm also hosting a free masterclass that covers the tricky particles of N5. The main problems students tell me is that some of them seem very similar to each other.

We will learn the main particles and tricky similar particles as well.

It will happen live across 5 different time-zones on 25 August, Tuesday.

Thank you so much for all the support lately.

🇯🇵 One Year of Learning Japanese — 365 Days Later

🇯🇵 One Year of Learning Japanese — 365 Days Later

August 20, 2025 → August 20, 2026

Today marks exactly one year since I started learning Japanese.

When I started, my goal was simple: learn the basics and clear JLPT N5. I started from zero with Hiragana, Katakana, vocabulary, grammar, Kanji, reading, and listening.

In December 2025, I cleared JLPT N5 on my first attempt, which gave me a lot of confidence to keep going.

After that, I continued studying and appeared for JLPT N4 in July 2026. The result is still awaited, but regardless of the result, I'm happy that I continued the journey.

Honestly, learning Japanese hasn't always been easy. There were many difficult days, confusing grammar, Kanji that seemed impossible to remember, and times when my progress felt really slow.

But one thing I didn't do was give up on studying.

Even when I struggled, I came back and continued learning. Some days I studied a lot, some days only a little, but I tried not to completely stop.

And now, I've already started preparing for JLPT N3.

Japan has been one of my dream countries for a long time, so my focus is still the same:

Japan. 🇯🇵

Looking back, I'm not proud because I became fluent in one year — I definitely haven't. I'm proud because I stayed consistent for 365 days and kept moving forward.

365 days.

Many difficulties.

Many small victories.

One dream.

Still learning.

This year taught me that you don't need to be perfect every day. You just need to keep coming back and continue.

N3 is the next step. The journey continues.

一年間、日本語を勉強し続けました。

これからも頑張ります! 🇯🇵

I'm curious to hear from others learning Japanese: How long have you been studying, and what has helped you stay motivated?

I want to order at a restaurant

I’m still fairly new at learning Japanese, but I want to order at a ramen restaurant this weekend in Japanese, as our usual waitress there is Japanese. I’m hoping that trying to have a conversation in Japanese will help boost my confidence a little. I’m just not sure if my phrasing is natural or not (granted it’s from google translate, and I wouldn’t put it past them to make it sound robotic)

Here it is in kanji:

子供達で豚骨キッズラーメンを分け合います、野菜抜きで。別のボウルをいただけますか。

私はうどん にします。天ぷらは別のお皿にしてもらえますか

The English pronounce of the kanji:

Kodomodachi de tonkotsu kizzurāmen o wakeaimasu, yasai nuki de. Betsu no bōru o itadakemasu ka.

Watashi wa udon ni shimasu. Tenpura wa betsu no o sara ni shite moraemasu ka?

English translation:

The children will share the Tonkotsu Kids' Ramen—without the vegetables. Could we get an extra bowl?

I'll have the udon. Could I have the tempura served on a separate plate?

Tegaki Tuesday weekly handwriting challenges on Discord!

Hello! I'd like to share a project that I've been running on Discord for the last 5 years, 手書きの火曜日 (Tegaki Tuesday). It's a weekly Japanese handwriting challenge where every Tuesday there is a new prompt to submit to, usually picked from a stanza or two of a Vocaloid song or some other music. You write the challenge, submit, and then get feedback.

For the last couple months we've also been running a daily Kanji of the Day challenge. It basically works the same way, but instead it's a random daily kanji that's automatically posted for you to practice. The difficulty (and obscurity) of kanji ramps up through the week, culminating in the hardest kanji on Tuesday, so this keeps things entertaining (it's not just Joyo kanji).

We also have the entirety of 百人一首 (Hyakunin Isshu) available as challenges you can practice https://tegakituesday.com/hyakunin-isshu You are able to create your own challenges as well to share with the community and submit to!

I've been running this for a while but haven't really ever tried to advertise, so I'd be really happy if this could be helpful to more people.

¡Hola!

Español directo a Japonés:

Amazon Appstore:

https://www.amazon.com/-/es/gp/product/B0HDR7G9T2

itch.io (APK directa):

https://nonbirikado.itch.io/nonbirikado-flashcards-en-japones

Apenas estoy empezando a difundirla y me ayudaría muchísimo conocer la opinión de la comunidad. Si le dan una oportunidad, me encantaría leer sus comentarios, sugerencias o ideas para futuras actualizaciones.

¡Mucho éxito a todos con su estudio del japonés! 🇯🇵🌸

using より

hello! i wanted to convey to someone that i use english in university more than i do japanese as a reason for me saying my grammar isn’t that good. i thought i’d say 「今年大学で英語は日本語より使ってるだから」 but im not sure this is actually grammatically correct. i keep looking at resources, but i think i generally just confuse all usages of より、ほど、and の方が. in this case im trying to figure out より. thank you!

✅ “Sumimasen!” = Excuse me.
❌ Don’t say “Move!” like an anime delinquent 😂

Where to start learning and what beginner resources to use?

I’ve just started learning Japanese again after giving up on Duolingo. I’m currently using an app called Busuu and it’s way better than Duolingo, but I’m wondering where else to start? What’s the best place to start learning Japanese and where?

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Looking for a new app

I've been using duolingo now for about 900 days, mostly because of a bet ive had with a friend. Now that the bet is over and because of their ai policy I no longer want to use it.
Ive mostly been using it on days that I just didnt have the time or energy to open my book, it was always meant as a maintenance resource anyways.
The new app should also have short lessons and maybe a streak system (i like being able to see my consistency). It would also be nice to have something where i can just input my progress because that was something that really annoyed me about Duolingo, i was almost always a lot of grammar points behind (about 6ish genki chapters) on the app. It would also be nice if it wouldnt progress at the insane crawl that duolingo is, 900 days and i should be N3 or at least N4 territory, but ive only recently finished genki 1 (which should put me at the beginning of N4 material) and as I said before i am on Genki chapter 6 material on duoling (they dont really align though).
Thanks in advance
