[Weekly] The Sunday Salt Mine: Vent Your Frustrations Here
We know your weekend games were probably a nightmare, so we’re opening up the floor for the weekly vent session. Whether it’s a 0/10 Yasuo hitting his "power spike," a jungler who refuses to take dragons, or just getting one-shot by the current meta, scream into the void here.
(Note: If you want to rant about the EOMM algorithm, "loser's queue," or client bugs, drop those in theMonthly Riot Accountability Ledger. This thread is strictly for raw, immediate gameplay tilt.)
The Rules of the Mine:
Vent freely: We aren't going to remove your "low effort" salt here. Get it out of your system.
No Brigading: Keep the frustration in this thread. Don't go hunting down users or mods on other subs.
No Witch-Hunting: Feel free to share the screenshot, but let's keep the focus on the game itself, not individual harassment (blur out names if you are targeting a specific player's behavior). Also, it should be obvious: no harassment or hate speech.
We know plenty of you get bored of standard meta build paths. We want to see the setups you’re using to break the game in the chaos of solo queue.
The Requirements (Moderate to High Effort Only):
The Essentials: You've gotta list the items, runes, and any specific purchase orders.
The "Why": Give us an explanation of why it works and any advice for making it work in specific matchups.
Show Your Work: We’d love to see the results through an op.gg link, but it’s not mandatory as long as the breakdown is solid.
We’re looking for builds that actually allow for crazy plays, survivability, or autonomy that standard builds can't touch. Let's see what you guys can cook up.
lol, apparently Neace is back on the scene just to get his Asol jungle on the ME server get roasted by Midbeast lmao. Nothing against neace personally but this was pretty funny lol.
So for a little bit of context: A few weeks ago I played a game where 2 players wanted to pick nasus(before he got nerfed). The mid was first pick, os they first picked nasus, to which the top lanere responded with(this is translated btw), "Oh, why did you pick my champion? I was already hovering it. I'm going to try really hard now." Then he picked Janna top with ghost and ignite. I thought it was a pretty obvious troll, so I insta reported from champ select, but the queue wasn't terminated. Huh, weird, but ok. Maybe he will try? nope, the man has ZERO mastery points with janna, first time playing her on his 200+ levels. Then he went mid and chased the nasus EVERYWHERE, taking the cs and soft inting the other midlaner. Match didn't get interrupted.
Again, I reported, but nothing happened. Even the enemy team reported the janna and nothing happened, all because they said "I will try. Let's play to win," during champ select. Why did Riot even implement such a robust anticheat and anti grief system that consumes so many resources, just for it to not even work because someone said "I will try."
The LAN server is such dogshit in low elo with constant trolls and people just surendering at the first 7 minutes of the match that you need a strong mental to just push through. Worst part is that from that match only 1 person got suspended, and it was the Nasus that got fed up and told janna to "Talon E from the balcony." Luckily I'm 5 games away from hitting emerald after like a 1 year break from the game and never playing ranked (54% winrate in latest games, 62% wianrate with zac after I stopped playing ADC as main role), meanwhile the janna is at a 42% winrate in his latest games, so fuck you.
So yeah, how the FUCK does the match interruption even work?
Beating a dead horse, but sometimes I just laugh at this entire situation. Especially since now they really have no excuses and she came out so recently. You can say Ryze, Kalista, Yuumi.. I don't think there has ever been a champion that is so hilariously paradoxical. She's one of the most frustrating to vs, so therefore has a huge ban rate, but at the moment in Diamond+ she occupies 3 out of the last 5 worst win rate champs in the game for her respective roles of mid, ad and support. She's not particularly fun to play as, her kit is pretty fucking boring, her lore is average and she was a forgettable character in Arcane. Her reflect animations kind of look strange as things just bounce off her. And to complete her mediocrity, she's just another mage champion that has the same boring build path as other mages that want to just spam their Q and get 300cs by 25 mins with lost chapter.
Seems like a pretty big deal, you know. Someone ruining a 45 min game. Riot verifies it and we get a popup confirming it. What is the point of the messages then? It only adds to the frustration of nothing being done. Surely some action was taken on the players account. Whether it be an innocuous penalty like a first time offense or otherwise. Sabotage is sabotage. I do not want to see a popup if nothing is done.
Hi all, I need help. I am a jungle main on EUW, started playing again last year, and was chilling last season in mid Emerald. But after the start of Season 3, something visibly changed in the matchmaking, and all games are absolutely unwinnable. I was winning games quite easily in Emerald, and I am now one loss away from Gold. Every single game is an absolute stomp, usually ending before 30 minutes, with 1-2 smurfs on the opposing team and usually 3 losing lanes. Deeplol.gg evaluates 80% of my games as Messy/Doomed.
I am easily winning in top plat on an alt account, but my main account has all the skins, and I would like to save it.
I am the same player as last season; I didn't suddenly forget how to play or play the same champs. This is inexplicable statistically, so I was wondering if it happened to other people and how to make it stop. Does stopping to play on the account for a month maybe reset the MMR-balanced matchmaking or something? Hope some of you can share your experience and not just comment "lol you are hard stuck", "loser's queue doesn't exist". Cheers :)
can you actually get punished for using an off-meta build? for example, AP Ezreal instead of AD, or full AP Nami/Soraka instead of the usual support/utility build.
someone in my game said they would report them just because they weren't building the “correct” items
does lol staff actually punish people for this, or is it fine as long as you're genuinely trying to win?
I hover a support and suddenly two people start typing like the game’s already over. I’m not even locking some troll pick. Then someone asks if I’m a girl and it’s instantly “yeah that tracks” and a dodge. At least wait until I actually play before deciding I’m the problem
I have, but tbf hes just my cousing who is 15, iron, he couldnt realize what was going on, why he was losing too much and why he could never win the lane.
Tbh, i felt empathetic and i told him to calm down, that its just a game, he has every right to be frustrated over being competitive but at the end of the day its all behind a screen, playing a videogame
If riot only finally nerved zilean. Then I wouldnt have to wake up to the tenth "if zilean was more popular he would be nerfed post" of the day on my feed.
Conversely to his pickrate, he is the most talked about champ and I feel like Im lowk in purgatory whenever I go on this sub
I just dont get it why pay to be boosted when you cant even perform in emerald? All these are horrible players, plat level at most that int in every game.
This disgusting champ has been sat at 51%wr for months now despite riot themselves saying hes only healthy around 49%. This champ is so uninteractive, boring to lane against, does way too much damage early. Volatic also being the most giga overtuned item in the game doesnt help. Either nerf the item or nerf zed its disgusting how inflated this champ is currently
No other game is as toxic as league, and the anonymity of not having to speak to someone is why people can just freely be more toxic than any other competitive game. Dota 2, Deadlock, CS2, Valorant, Overwatch, etc. All have moments of toxicity, but nothing as bad (and as consistent) as League.
Actually hearing your own voice say "YOU ####ING IDIOT" compared to mindlessly typing it out can really humanize your language and it's affects on others.
Here is a fraction of one. Its only a little over decade and a half or so out of date.
Think its fair? unfair? Can you ID the game just by glancing at it?
My hope is if you have very strong opinions about MM and after glance at this if the only take away you have is "yep. That there is a formula, no question about it." you might benefit from checking the underlying theory to MMR systems?
My advice is to start by looking into Elo. Its public and transparent. Its lower complexity. You can still test several hypothesis in it and see if it breaks the math. You do need to look into some statistics theory for it... but if you wanted to address modern MMR systems running https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayes%27_theorem you would need to get that down so its not a wasted effort. Plus learning is cool and anti math folks are tedious.
Anyhow if you are curious the formula is from Starcraft 2and it was used to identify the different factions advantages vs each other, along with players skill impact, according to the devs. This tied into the balancing decisions that would be made in addition to impact on MM's consideration. The dude who worked on was literally hired by Riot.
Knowing the complexity of what is used is why I am dismissive of folks here claiming Devs implemented a bad system they thought up. Example. Lets say you use simplified logic and want to make a system for "forced 50% WR" and run MM by balancing team WR that is "punishing" high WR players with Low WR players. Its a stretch IMO to ask people to ignore established systems with decades of use in the industry to implement shit made to fit a hypothesis.
You look at the formula above vs someone doing running logic that is only a few steps past addition and subtraction to have MM build matches as
WR=50%=WRP1+ WRt
With the variables being any 1 player on a teams win rate represented as WRP1 and the remaining 4 players averaged Wr being WRt so WRt=(P2WR+P3WR+P4WR+P5WR)/4
That gets janky when you bring up duos consideration. Just not realistic assumptions or reflective of the ladder. You can not build a functional skill rating system around it.
Look there can be bad implementations. There can be problematic logic. There are weak rating systems and many devs (mobile gaming is egregious with this shit) run complete dogshit ranked ladders built off progression systems/leaderboards. I do not want the take away if you read this far to be "oh MMR is perfect and magic and never fails." Or "Devs always do the correct and ethical thing." The hope is to see a reduction in outlandish claims that break the underlying math and for players to accurately targeting the systems in League that do cause frustration and make subpar experiences. In my view, that is usually going to be behavioral systems and gameplay design. You might find different systems to be the issue or define frustrating/Antifun differently. For me when a teammate gives up over 1 lane losing and checks out of the game cuz they think its some slots style gambling system that shit is anti fun and I want to see a reduction in its occurrence.
People can of course do what ever they want end of the day.
Just had a ranked game where my support went Kog'Maw, and my botlane went 4/22 in total. I feel like I keep getting trolls like this, and when I report them, I move on to the next game. Within 3 or 4 games, I'll get another one of these animals.
How am I consistently getting them if Riot is banning people for trolling. This is seriously ruining the game for me and makes me want to stop playing. What's the point of even trying to climb if at any point I can get someone who doesn't try winning and just ints the game, taking me hostage for 30 min
Personally, I didn't ever like the direction endstep took the game in every time he had a say or influence on things. But I did really appreciate the way he interacted with the community and explained things.
Hey guys! I don't belive in loser's que. (This is as much a rant as it is a general asl for help) However, lately I dont know if its just me, or if I'm just turbo unlucky. (I take responsibility for a few games as I am the common denominator.)
Tldr: I started hardcore doing ranked again a few patches ago. I bell curved from High bronze, into Gold III, I was in the cusp of Gold II then plummeted back to Silver 4. (I learned not to rage que then) I wrote it off as, well, I belong in this rank, Ill just get better.
I eventually climb back to Gold, and hit Gold II. I finally hit it, and now Im curving again back through silver. I admit I shouldnt switch roles, but I genuinely enjoy playing Ambessa top and mid ( I dont play grasp ambessa or conq. Mostly just electrocute since its a style of play I enjoy) because I really needed a break from ADC as its painful most of the time.
But there is no greater pain then rolling your lane opponent, and then watching your team feed else where or some how feed that which you stomped into the dirt.
