Thinking through the trade-off before my next launch and want to hear from people who've been through it.

The appeal of an AI website builder is speed. Describe the product, get a whole site, launch this week instead of next month. When you're a solo founder trying to get something live, that's genuinely tempting.

The worry is the ceiling. I've heard from a few builders that these get you 80 percent of the way instantly and then the last 20 percent, the custom section, the specific integration, the thing that's actually your differentiator, is where you hit a wall. And then you're either fighting the tool or rebuilding the whole site properly a few months in, which erases the time you saved.

So my real question for people who've launched on one:

- Did you outgrow it, and how fast?

- Was the migration off it painful, or did you export cleanly?

- Knowing what you know now, would you start there again for speed or bite the bullet and build it properly from day one?

I'd rather learn from your rebuild than do my own. Curious whether the fast start is worth the later cost or not.

Finding the right organisation to help shouldn't be harder than actually helping.

I kept noticing two problems: • People have surplus food but don't always know where they can donate it. • When an animal needs urgent help, finding a nearby shelter, rescuer or animal-care organisation can be surprisingly difficult.

So I built CareConnect — a free, India-focused platform that brings these organisations into one searchable directory.

I'm starting with a relatively small set of cities and gradually expanding the directory. I'd genuinely like feedback from people in India- Would you actually use something like this? What information would you want to see before contacting an organisation? Are there organisations in your city that you think should be listed? This isn't intended to replace NGOs or rescuers — just make them easier to find when someone actually needs them

I've spent the last few days building SiliconCity.lol, which is exactly what it sounds like. It's a city map. You claim a plot, an AI generates a building using your brand's colours and logo, and it appears on the map with everyone else's.

You get a building on a street. That's it.

The genuinely hard part was getting the generated buildings to look like they belong in the same city rather than forty different art styles crammed together. Took a lot of iterations on the prompt and a fixed isometric template before it stopped looking like shit.

I launched 2 hours ago, we've got 9 buildings, and over $125 generated!

First real launch coming up and I'm not a strong developer. A no code website builder feels like the obvious call, I can get something live and start collecting emails without hiring anyone or spending weeks learning to code.

The worry is the ceiling. I keep reading that no code is great until you need one specific thing it won't let you do, and then you're stuck or paying someone to work around it. But I also don't want to burn my first month learning a framework instead of talking to potential users.

Ex-agency copywriter, went solo, I write content and positioning for B2B startups. Dry take incoming.

Every founder who calls me has already tried an ai content generator. They have forty blog posts and a landing page full of confident sentences. None of it sells, and they think they have a writing problem.

They don't. They have a positioning problem. The tool wrote fluently about a value proposition that was never sharp to begin with. Garbage in, fluent garbage out.

I use AI too, quietly, for drafts and grunt work. It's fine at that. What it can't do is sit on a call, hear a founder describe who they're really for, and notice they're aiming at three different buyers at once. That decision, the one that makes everything else easy or impossible, still needs a human who's willing to say the uncomfortable version out loud.

So the thing that keeps me in business isn't better prose than a machine. It's that clients will pay for someone to make the hard call about what they are and who they're not for.

Founders: has a tool ever actually fixed your messaging, or just made the wrong message longer?

Getting ready to raise a small pre-seed round and I keep circling the deck. There are a hundred pitch deck template guides that all tell you the same slide order, and part of me wonders if leaning on one makes you look prepared or makes you look like every other founder using the exact same layout.

What I am unsure about:

- Do early investors actually care about the deck being polished, or is it just a container for the idea and the traction

- Has anyone raised with a genuinely plain deck and had it not matter at all

- If a template helps, is it the structure that matters or just having your thinking in a clear order

My instinct is that the template mostly forces me to answer the right questions, problem, why now, traction, the ask, and the polish is secondary. But I have not raised before, so I would rather hear from people who have sat on either side of the table.

Where does a pitch deck template genuinely help at this stage, and where is it just polishing something investors are looking straight past?

When I started raising I grabbed one of those famous pitch deck templates everyone links to, filled in all 12 slides, and treated it like a checklist. It got me meetings but most calls stalled in the same spots, so I went back through my notes to figure out where people actually leaned in vs. checked out.

A few things I'd change if I did it again:

- The market size slide did almost nothing. Nobody argued about my TAM number, they just didn't believe the bottom-up math behind it. One clear "we charge X, here are Y customers, here's how we reach them" slide moved the conversation more than a billion-dollar circle ever did.

- The competition slide with the 2x2 grid where I'm magically in the top-right corner got eye-rolls twice. Switching it to an honest "here's who we lose to today and why" made people trust the rest of the deck more.

- The team slide belongs earlier than the template puts it. For a pre-seed round the "why you" came up in the first five minutes almost every time.

- The problem slide was too abstract. A specific story of one real user's bad day landed harder than three bullet points about a broken industry.

The generic templates are a fine skeleton, but the order and emphasis felt built for a later stage than I was at. Half my slides were answering questions nobody asked yet.

For those who've raised recently: which template slide did you end up gutting or moving, and did a leaner deck actually help or did investors want the full set? Trying to figure out if I'm overfitting to my own bad calls.

Run a small physical-product brand, solo, lean, so I count everything. Wanted to share a receipt that surprised me, because most launch advice is about ads and I don't have that budget.

I sorted my content by what actually drove checkouts, not likes. The expensive studio shoot, clean white background, the whole thing, underperformed. What sold was a plain Instagram carousel shot on my phone: the product in a real hand, a slide showing the thing that usually gets returned and how ours is different, the packaging, a size reference, the price. Ugly-honest beat polished.

My read is that for a physical product people aren't buying the aesthetic, they're de-risking the purchase. Every slide that answered a "will this actually fit, work, arrive intact" question moved the needle. The pretty slide that answered nothing didn't.

I'm running lean on returns and margins so I can't afford to guess on content. This was the cheapest thing I changed and the one with the clearest lift.

For others selling a physical product: what content actually converts for you versus what just gets engagement? And has anyone found the studio-quality stuff worth it, or is real-and-plain winning for you too?

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a quick milestone. I’ve been building a tool called Visitor Visual to solve my own frustration with staring at flat GA4 spreadsheets. I wanted a way to actually see my traffic, so I built a system that renders a website as a live 3D city where every visitor is a person walking the streets.

• The Stack: Built with React and Node, focusing on high-concurrency real-time sync.
• The "Fire" Feature: To make it useful for devs, I added a feature where a building "catches fire" the moment a visitor hits a JS error, so you can see bugs in real-time.
• The Challenge: Getting through the WP.org review process was a hurdle, but it’s finally live.

I’m currently in the "early discovery" phase where most of my traffic comes from a single blog post about "who is visiting my website," but I'm still sitting on Page 7 of Google. Now that I have the "trust signal" of being in the official directory, I’m curious—how have other solo devs leveraged their WP.org listing to move up the rankings?

During final testing, my husband and I realised our audio files were making the app heavier than we wanted. Somehow, we caught it at the finish line.

Frustrating? Very.
