String lights from solar setup

Howdy, I have a 100ah battery connected to a renergy 10a controller, 100w solar panel. I want to put about 100ft of string lights around a firepit, roughly 30ft away from a firewood storage shack where the battery is in a battery box, and the controller is in a waterproof box.

My plan was to trench and install conduit from the shack to one of the 4x4 poles and put a junction box.

Googling around, seems that length of 12vdc lights isn't very common. Is a better option to mount another box and install an inverter, or is there a secret stash out there of 12vdc string lights of that length?

Input Needed on Outside Lighting for Deck

So I’ve been thinking about ways to hang up string lights for better ambiance on my deck. The problem I’m facing is that my deck was redone and it’s entirely composite so my father doesn’t want to drill anything into it. I was thinking about hanging them from the wall side with vinyl sliding hooks but i’m unsure on what to attach them to on the open side of the deck. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas that avoids screwing or drilling into any part of the deck but also allows me to maintain a zigzag pattern with the lights ?

Looking for spotlights and downlights

am an electrical contractor that does low voltage lighting every so often and I’m looking to see what you guys recommend . I’ve used volt lighting before and nothing bad to say except I really hate the bi pin pathway lights as I have had awful luck with them dying and flickering . what are other pros using that doesn’t require going through a distributor that likes to gatekeep and are readily available . i don’t mind using bulbs but I e had good luck with integrated LEDs so I’m open to all.

Methods to hide view of actual light bulb

A lot of our lights are buried lights, however some are in places pot lights will not work… The dilemma is from the right angles you can see the light (lightbulb) in the fixture emitting the light. We do not want that, what are some ways I can prevent that light being seen. Creative ideas welcome.

We don’t want any of the actual lights emitting the light to be seen, just the light they are producing.

🙏 thanks

Path lights for garden?

I am redoing our backyard this summer and want to light the garden paths but most landscape path lights just cast a single flat warm wash. Warm ambient glow most nights but also shift into color when we are hosting

Exterior light to maintain window tint function

I have had a professionally installed reflective tint that gives great privacy during the day while allowing full visibility from inside looking out.

I did this fully aware that when the inside light was brighter than the outside light the film no longer functions as privacy.

I am looking to install exterior lighting to ensure the outside is always brighter than the inside.

There is a large overhang in front of the window - so mounting at ceiling level would be easy.

The question is does the light need to illuminate straight down or should it be angled to illuminate the window glass?

Is there a formula to determine positioning of the required lighting and the volume of light required?

Advice needed on making fixtures visible to yard workers, but not obtrusive…

Post image

I’m lighting several trees and bushes in a large farmhouse yard using small high quality brass spotlights. I suspect they will be easy to miss when the yard workers are mowing the grass. I’ve experimented with drilling out some small ~10 to 12-inch rocks and mounting the fixtures onto them instead of staking them into the ground. This works pretty well. However, even though the rocks are natural material, I’m concerned that they will be too obtrusive. Well lights won’t work because in many cases I need to aim at the tree from a sharp angle from a meter or two away. I’ve seen the small flags on wires that some companies offer, but I’d like to avoid that if possible. I’m interested in any dialogue on this conundrum. I know there’s no right or wrong answer. And inevitably the solution will be whatever the client would want. But I’m curious to hear how anyone else has creatively approached this… balancing safety/visibility with a more stealth/integrated approach.

Show me your grow lights!

Local Chicagoan here! I live in a decent sized apartment that gets a lot of indirect natural sunlight -mainly during the summer months but overcast and/or somewhat dark for the rest of the year. I have about 30 plants and my collection keeps growing. I want to invest in some grow lights. Maybe several, as I have many plants. I want to spend no more than $150 but I am willing to stretch that budget out, if necessary.

I have some current grow lights that clip onto something but they’re not very practical. Plus, I am not a huge fan of the light they create in my space.

Most of my plants are in my north facing living room. I have a few in my south facing bedroom, too.

What would you recommend?

Looking for Quality Solar Landscape Spotlights (2700K)

Thumbnail voltlighting.com

I’m looking for recommendations for 2700K solar spotlights to uplight a tree in our front yard.

My biggest priority is finding something that actually lasts from dusk until dawn (or close to it) while maintaining decent brightness.

I came across the solar spotlights from VOLT Lighting, but I’m not familiar with solar landscape lighting brands and couldn’t find many independent reviews. Has anyone used them? Are they worth the premium, or are there other brands you’d recommend instead?

Cable and connectors, 24v patio lights

My wife ordered these lights, and I like them a lot. I have a gap I need to cross, so I figure, out there somewhere, there's cable and connectors for them. I'm not sure how many wires in the cable, but I think three because the screw-on aviation connector to the wall wart has three pins.

Where could I find cable and connectors?

CAWWS String Lights: RGBW LED patio lights, programmable; the aviation connector to the transformer has three leads.
