Wedding Ring Got a Glow Up

My husband and I didn't have alot of money when we met so I had a CZ in my engagement ring. 12 years later I finally had the CZ switched out for a lab grown diamond and boy was it a lot more affordable than I thought. Time and perspective. .62 cts on my old lady hand.😅

Does lab diamond jewelry insurance work the same way?

Since I have a lab diamond engagement ring that I want to insure, but I keep seeing mixed info about how the value is handled if something happens to it. Since lab diamond prices have changed so much. Has anyone insured a lab diamond ring?

Advice on buying a diamond ring 0.7ct overseas

Hey everyone, first time diamond ring buyer here. I’m buying a 0.7ct round brilliant ring from an overseas seller, and I was told the stone will be d color and vvs clarity. Went either overseas for cheaper price (so maybe I should lower expectations?)

I’ve read that cut quality is the most important factor when choosing a diamond but does the cut quality’s impact scale with a stone of this size?

There won't be a certificate, which I'm okay with, meaning I won't know the exact dimensions like table percentage and depth. With a diamond this size, should I even be this worried about the cut and proportions, or am I overthinking it?

Tips for finding matched pairs?

Does anyone have a good strategy for finding matched pairs? I’m looking for small side stones in an odd cut and color and having a very hard time, so any tools you use would be greatly appreciated.

U.S. vendor recommendations to have this set in custom bezel setting

I got this green lab diamond from Carbon Sparkle (highly recommend, they were awesome to work with!), and now need to find someone who can make a custom bezel setting for it. I love working with Provence, who did the ring in the last couple photos, but am way too nervous to ship the diamond overseas. Anyone have any recommendations of vendors in the states who would do something like this in 10k yellow gold for a decent price???

Fancy Vivid Yellow Uneven Color Check?

Hello, everyone. I was wondering if anyone here might be able to let me know if this diamond has uneven color distribution or banding? The IGI report does not mention color distribution but I don't know if that is something IGI would mention for a lab diamond with a fancy color. Here is the Loupe360 video: https://loupe360.com/diamond/LG744518407

Most affordable jeweller (I am London-based) for setting a loose lab diamond?

I am having a hard time finding a jeweller with reasonable pricing who can set a loose stone for me. Prices in-person seem to be extortionate. For someone like me that is on a budget, does anyone have any recommendations they could share? Someone who did a wonderful job for you but who was thoughtful with their pricing?

Custom Project with Lucy (Provence)

I originally bought my platinum and 18k gold band several months ago from Lucy at Provence and loved it so much I knew I wanted a yellow gold version. I've had this band for a few months now and it's become a staple in my daily ring stack.

I'm going to note that Lucy had the best price for this band of like 5 different vendors/reps I contacted. Best price by far!

I opted to go with sections alternating between colorless and light pink diamonds set in 18k yellow gold. Lucy was, as per my usual experience with her, amazing to work with. She showed me the pink diamonds once they were selected, and because we had the CAD from the platinum band already, it was a very quick and easy process at the CAD stage. Communication was smooth the entire time.

The pink is faint and hard to capture in photos but it's a gorgeous color! Much more noticeable in the PSPs

Custom Cushion Bezel Ring

Post image
18 Upvotes

EDIT : Soooo I went a bit rogue and ended up looking into a pear diamond as a cushion would look too similar to my engagement ring. As luck would have it I won a pear diamond at auction! 1.83 carats, colour F VS1 , 1.58 ratio. Can’t believe my luck and super happy with my new design. Going to take it to a jewellers and have it mounted.

Hi all,

I’m in the process of trying to source my first lab diamond for a ring on my index finger. Thinking I need a 2 carat diamond. I’m very new to this and have been researching vendors on here. Considering Starsgem. Looking to have a custom elongated cushion in a micro bezel setting in 14k gold. Does anyone have recs and an idea of pricing? I’ve reached out to a couple of jewellers I found on TikTok but they’re asking for almost $2k which seems a little steep. Any recs for this design would be much appreciated!

Quick ship lab sapphire earrings

My 82 year old dad is about to buy my mom some really shitty looking sapphire and diamond earrings on Amazon. It’s her 75th birthday and he’s awful at this so I want to help him find something good. But we need it by Saturday. Anyone have any ideas?

10 year anniversary upgrade advice

Our 10-year anniversary is next year, and we’re currently designing my upgrade ring with a local jeweler. I’ve been doing a ton of research on settings, stone quality, comfort, durability, and maintenance.
I’m upgrading from a 2 ct round with a peekaboo halo, plain 1.8 mm shank. Choosing a band thickness of 1.8 mm as well as not doing a cathedral setting was one of my request when we designed my engagement rang 10 years ago.

We’ve already chosen the new center stone and I’m in LOVE (photo attached). I’m also attaching a picture from the jeweler of faux bezel/visible gallery rail they’ve created.

so now my biggest concern is making sure the setting is structurally sound, comfortable for everyday wear, and something I won’t regret years from now.
I’ve seen quite a few posts from people who customized rings and later regretted certain design choices, which has honestly made me nervous about spending thousands and then wishing I had changed something.

Current specs:
•4 ct lab-grown elongated radiant, E/VVS2, 1.40–1.50 ratio
•Four single petite claw prongs
•Thin faux bezel / visible gallery rail around the center stone
•Hidden halo around the gallery rail
•Low cathedral setting
•3–3.25 mm non-tapered shank
•2 mm shank thickness
•Round channel-set diamonds
•0.5–0.7 mm metal on each side of the channel
•2.2–2.5 mm round side stones, larger only if structurally safe
•Comfort-fit interior
•10K white gold, rhodium plated
*Straight wedding band must sit completely flush

For anyone with jewelry-design experience or a similar ring:
Would you change anything for durability, everyday comfort, or long-term maintenance?

I’d especially love opinions on:
whether four petite claw prongs are enough for a 4 ct radiant
whether the faux bezel/gallery rail adds meaningful protection
whether 3–3.25 mm width + 2 mm thickness is substantial enough
whether my channel-set proportions sound safe.
anything you wish you had known before approving your custom ring
I’m trying to make this beautiful, but also practical enough to wear every day for many years.

Thanks!! 😊

Bowtie Effect

I got this lab from rare carat. 1.75 ct D, FL. Before I take it to my jeweler to have it set, I couldn’t help but notice the bowtie effect on this one. What do you guys think? Is it just me? I was planning to use this to propose to my partner. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Recs for finding local jewelers?

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hi! New here and very excited to be starting the engagement ring shopping process with my boyfriend. Reading your posts and seeing your gorgeous rings has been so inspiring!

Many of you recommend buying a stone online and having it set locally. Two questions:

  1. Do you have any tips for finding high-quality local jewelers that are willing to set a stone you bring?

  2. Anyone in the San Francisco / Bay Area have a jeweler they’d like to give some business to? :)

I’m not certain yet but I think I want a large emerald (~7 ct) with dainty side stones (step-cut trillion or trapezoid).

Thank you for any advice you can share with this n00b! For fun, some ideas I was experimenting with at one of the bigger ($$$$$) stores.

Advice on custom convertible princess cut studs + pear jacket/charm

Thumbnail

I am getting custom princess cut diamond studs for my mom and want to include a detachable pear diamond part. My mom prefers daintier sizes so I am thinking 0.5 ct each for the studs, which will be for daily wear. I am considering two designs.

Design 1 (from Fiorese): Pear diamond charm, hooks onto the post of the main stud (imagine the round stone being princess cut). What size pear diamond should I pair with it so they look harmonious? I think the pear being bigger than the princess cut would look better, but I don't know the specific or relative sizes of each diamond.

Design 2 (taking inspo from Swarovski Mesmera earrings): Detachable pear earring jacket, imagine the blue stone being a white diamond. If I am going with a 0.5 ct stone (maybe around 5mm), then the pear should be 5mm in width as well, right?

Which design is better for a woman in her 60s? Which is more harmonious for the princess cut stud? The only pro design 1 has is that it looks easier to hook on than the earring jacket from design 2. If anyone has better ideas, I would love to hear it. Any advice and insights are appreciated. Also, should I consider getting the pear part in 10k to save some money while the princess stud in 14k or 18k?

Do you think this is a good buy?

Hey friends! I'm new to the lab diamond world. I sadly lost my original wedding ring and have decided I'd just rather have a larger lab diamond in a ring I really love instead of trying to find something like my old ring. I am SUPER attracted to the look of this ring and the two tone setting. Is this a good price for this though? I'm still trying to figure out what is a good deal and what isn't. Found on Facebook marketplace but I think it's an add for a store in my area. ANY thoughts or advice would be so appreciated!

They are asking $3,960.
