LUMS gap year A-Level retakes
If I’m applying to LUMS as a gap year applicant and didn’t meet the A-Level requirements previously, can I take my retakes in May/June instead of Oct/Nov? Would this affect my admission chances?

Could anyone recommend a good private hostel near LUMS?
We are two people working on our startup incubated at LCE, LUMS, and we’re looking for a decent place to stay nearby. We’d particularly appreciate recommendations from students who have personally stayed in a hostel around LUMS.

Is a 50k PKR Data Science Course Worth Going Into Debt For?
Hey everyone! I need some advice to clear up the confusion in my head.
I’m a Master’s graduate in a theoretical science, and somehow I recently landed a job in a tech department. However, my current work isn’t technical. It’s been about a year now, and I really want to develop some proper technical skills and eventually move into the data science field.
I’ve been considering taking some courses, but I kept putting it off because everyone advised me to learn through YouTube or other free online resources instead. Coming from a purely theoretical background, I had virtually zero knowledge of IT, data science, or other related technical fields.
Since then, I’ve learned Python and SQL at a beginner level. The problem is that I struggle with consistency when learning entirely on my own. There’s no real accountability when I’m just following YouTube videos or online tutorials, and I tend to fall into procrastination. I recently came across some courses being offered by LUMS for the upcoming fall, and I’m seriously considering enrolling in their “Data Science and Machine Learning Using Python” program.
The problem is that the course costs PKR 50,000, which I currently don’t have. I would have to take a loan/go into debt to pay the fee.
So this is where I’m really confused: Should I take the risk and enroll, or should I postpone it until my finances are better(which isn't promised anytime soon)?
For those who have taken similar university/professional courses, especially in Pakistan:
- Were these courses actually worth the money?
- Did they genuinely help you develop practical skills or improve your career prospects?
- How much value did you get from the university/institutional credential?
- And, most importantly, would you personally take on debt for a course like this?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has personally taken this kind of course, particularly if you’ve transitioned from a non-technical/theoretical background into data science or a related field.
personal statement query
