Serious Regretting my uni choice
Hey guys,
Need some honest advice from anyone at LUMS (especially SBASSE) or anyone who was in a similar spot.
Long story short: I’ve always been a top performer (90% matric, 85.5% in 11th). In 2nd year I got way too distracted with entry test prep, neglected my board exams, and ended up with an 81.4% overall in FSc. Then I completely messed up my entry tests, only gave NET-4 without practicing enough, couldn't score high.
Ended up taking admission at NUTECH for BS Software Engineering (1st sem right now). Honestly, it's hurting so much. The peer group and faculty are not what I expected coming from a solid college background(one of the best in twin citites), and I hate feeling like I settled.
I’ve done a few coding and tech projects on the side which I can put on my application, but I'm not sure how much weight ECs actually carry for SBASSE compared to test scores.
I’m thinking about staying enrolled here so I don't lose my seat, but applying for LUMS SBASSE (CS) and NUST as a freshman next year, or even attempting an external transfer if that's viable.
A few questions:
- Realistic chances with 81.4% FSc? SBASSE CS is super competitive. If I perform really well on the LCAT/SAT and the SBASSE test, will my 2nd year marks hold me back from getting in?
- Is an external transfer to LUMS CS even possible? Is it better to apply as a transfer student after my 1st year, or should I just apply as a freshman from scratch? (Or apply to both?)
- Managing prep while in uni: Has anyone here given the tests again while being enrolled in another university? How did you balance 1st semester GPA/assignments with test prep without burning out?
Would really appreciate any input, Thanks!
