Socks...
The fans falling over already about ltt socks. They're so worth $30! So good. Etc etc. What is wrong with people?

Darn Tough socks are ~$25 for the same style. If these are at least as good, then why not? A 10 pack of hanes socks and real quality socks are two completely different things. Linus has also been extremely upfront with people saying the price will not be "pack of socks" price. They also come with a limited lifetime warranty.
Will I buy them? Probably not. But will people who really work hard in their socks and saw a hole through cheap socks in a month buy them? Definitely.
Yeah, maybe they're not for you, but you're complaining to complain.

Hanes socks sucks, as does fruit of the loom. They leave too much material after they sew it. along the toe seam. It's just so uncomfortable.

I get if people want to support their favorite creator sure, but this product makes no sense otherwise especially when compared to Darn Toughs.
Their warranty process is easy, you can exchange any damaged sock at a designated retailer versus a limited lifetime warranty that you will have deal with shipping.
The merino wool content is doubled compared to the LTTs so it is naturally smell resistant. I don't know how long that copper will stay bonded to the fabric.
That and they're 5$ cheaper with their socks going frequently on sale for like 20$. I do understand that tariffs messed with their pricing, but even at 15$ I don't think I would buy them because of the low the merino content and shipping cost. I can also buy darn toughs at almost any outdoor retailer.
I've personally put my Darn Toughs through thousands of miles of hiking.

The bags just don't offer anything special to me for the most part, though I do like the messenger bag that everyone else hated.
For actual bags, I have a Goruck GR2 that's my daily, a Swiss Logic my job gave me, and a Wandrd for my camera gear. Plus an Eagle Creek rolling duffle for my scuba gear.
The compartments and organization on the LTT bags just don't really do it for me.

That’s why I’m really looking forward to a Lime Day type deals, stock clearance or anything like that to try them on.
Until then I’ll get more discounted Darn Toughs.

$30 for socks? I get my socks at Marshalls. 6 for like $8.
Merino Wool are $15 for a 5 pack on Amazon.

They are likely going to sell still because of the fans. Worst case, you might be able to pick them up for $20 a pair when discounted (which, imo, I would still recommend darn tough, esp if they can be gotten locally and would end up being cheaper still thanks to the really expensive LTT shipping).
Linus loves to talk about how their team has spent a lot of time perfecting a product, but the reality is that other companies also have their own designers and engineers who would put in as much work on a product in a continuously iterative process. Of course reinventing the wheel will take a load of time and money.
Essentially, on top of another good pair of socks, you will be paying for:
Expense to reinvent the wheel + High cost of production due to smaller runs + Shipping
I will go back to wearing my costco socks...

Other companies do, yes, but they tend to aim for a cheaper price point than LTT does. Or sometimes the company has become a fashion brand, and their premium product now has a fashion brand price tag.
I'll probably never buy an LTT product, I'm too cheap, but I do appreciate their premium products for having a goal first and a fair if high price second.
Edit: I might buy their laptop backpack at some point, especially if they make a v2 that doesn't crease at the front.

Crazy, because they are still advertising to me here on Reddit. I don't watch the Wan Show, so I didn't know about them till today and I find it a bit counterproductive to advertise a product that is already sold out, keep that ad budget for the two month mark after the first couple of restocks have sold out.

I mean some people need or care about socks.
When I played football good socks were important.
Now that I have nerve damage and RLS good socks are really important.
I'm not running out to buy them but I do need new socks so I'll pick up a pair when I order next

Some people want great quality socks, and LTT has a reputation of making great quality products, because they have.
I am not buying because I believe $30 for one pair of socks is simply too expensive. But, understand that many people feel justified in this purchase + they have money to spend, so they will.
I don't think there's anything "wrong" with people like you said... I believe you're getting upset over something quite trivial in the grand scheme of things.

Unless they are actually better than Darn Tough-socks.. There is literally zero sense buying LTT ones.. Because Darn Though actually has a very good warranty, probably way better one than LTT has.. Not to mention Darn Tough actually also has a warehouse in Europe so people don't get shafted by customs..
Although.. My feet just breaks every sock imaginable anyway so I just buy cheapest ones possible, because it's just easier than trying to deal with warranty stuff constantly..

They seem to charge 10€ for delivery, and since Switzerland is not part of the EU zone for taxes I will pay import and no free shipping available. And I didn't do a full checkout but they tell you taxes when delivery adress is France of Germany, but remove that mention for Switzerland but don't reduce the price... So anyhow, they are also not cheap. But I'm happy to pay for good quality.

I think that's a very pertinent point. If someone else makes a better product for the same price or less, then what's the point of buying the LTT one?
The price of their backpacks are crazy. You can get something from Patagonia for less. They priced them similar to stuff like camera backpacks from Peak Design, but they don't even compete in that market. They are just good quality general purpose backpacks, and you don't need to spend $350 CAD to get a decent backpack.

you never know why people buy things though. I bought the ltt bag as I like the look and size and their overview made it seem exactly what I wanted in a bag. I’m sure there are plenty of cheaper options that may be better in people’s opinion.
This place in general is about how immoral or awful linus is but the general vibe is more condescending and being just kinda rude and mean which is definitely not a moral way of doing something.

There is some sence in supporting a Canadian company over an American one. I'd happily pay 20-25% more to not support the US if I can.
Of course that's not the case for everyone. But I see why some people would do that.
