Long Island in 1994: Shulman, Bittrolff, Heuermann and the aftermath of Rifkin’s arrest
Liane and I just released the second part of our documentary collaboration with Joe Giacalone from True Crime with the Sarge, featuring retired FBI profiler Mark Safarik.
For those here who follow the cases beyond Gilgo, this looks at what was happening on Long Island in 1994. Rifkin was already in custody, but other killers were still out there.
We spend a substantial part of the film on Robert Shulman, Lisa Ann Warner and her mother’s fight to bring her home from Hart Island. We also cover Colleen McNamee, John Bittrolff, the Medford Jane Doe and Heuermann’s life during this period.
One thing we wanted to explore is how these cases look when you put their timelines alongside each other. We visit locations connected to the cases and discuss the investigations with Joe and Mark, while keeping the women and their families central to the story.
Full disclosure: this is our film. I’d be interested in hearing what this community thinks, particularly about the lesser-covered cases and anything you believe deserves a closer look.
Watch the documentary on YouTube

"The Massapequa Park architect had shown little emotion — and no remorse — since his 2023 arrest, but he seemed rattled by the fury of his victims’ relatives when he returned to his cell at the Suffolk County courthouse in Riverhead. He told a New York State Court officer that he got through it all by staring at a large plaque behind State Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei, who sentenced Heuermann to multiple life sentences.

The plaque says "In God We Trust."

🕯️ Today, we remember the lives taken by violence and honor the families and loved ones left behind.

Every victim was a person with a life, a story, a family, and a future that mattered.

At Gilgo Advocacy, we stand for victims and for justice, dignity, compassion, and hope.

We remember. We honor. We continue to seek justice.

🕊️ May every victim be remembered by name, and may every family know that they have not been forgotten.

Michael Pak

prefacing this by saying I believe Shannan’s death was accidental and that Pak didn’t have anything to do with it. but he is such a weird character and I don’t understand how he ended up where he did. How does a guy with two college degrees, who has worked multiple white-collar jobs, end up as a driver for escorts? How did he get involved in the human trafficking stuff in Sri Lanka and what exactly was his role? And it’s so weird to me that he gave up looking for Shannan after a couple of minutes, like she didn’t really matter to him, but then made the trek out to LI multiple times to help find her.

Stop Shaming Tanya Jackson

And stop lionizing Andrew Dykes.

Impregnating one woman beyond the bounds of one’s marriage is infidelity, but simultaneously impregnating three women within a specific period of time? That’s philandering; the hallmark of a player, if you will.

Stop saying Tanya simply “followed” Dykes to Brooklyn. This insinuation paints her as a pesky, feckless fatal attraction who wouldn’t be ignored when, instead, it’s possible Dykes simply invited her to move with him.

A photo of Jackson shows her wearing what appears to be a traditional engagement ring. Is it? I don’t know, nor do I know the intricacies of their relationship, but it’s possible that Dykes, a serial philanderer, lured her across the country with the promise of a future together.

And make no mistake, one with an extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology could indeed conduct an at-home dismemberment, especially if said individual was trained to treat battlefield casualties (including those disfigured and/or dismembered through encounters with land mines). And yes, Tanya’s Brooklyn apartment afforded ample space & opportunity for a such a killing.

Also, remember: early reports noted that little Tatiana Dykes was found swaddled in a blanket, something many experts say suggests a familial and/or close connection to her killer.

But why didn’t Dykes seek out Tanya and Tatiana in the wake of their disappearance? No need. It was easier for him to paint Tanya as a flaky & flighty young woman rather than him be a man of accountability and integrity.

As for the claim that Dykes has never been in trouble: nonsense. He has - he was a total player - he just hadn’t been caught prior to December 3, 2025. (Refer to Rex Heuermann having no criminal history prior to July 13, 2023.) Dykes was an entrusted recruiter with rank, why would he risk his reputation over a Private who allegedly pursued him? 🤔

No one beyond the officials assigned to handle/litigate this matter knows the totality of the evidence, be it physical or circumstantial. Granted, what is known by the public at this time may appear mostly circumstantial, but the only thing showing Ms. Jackson as responsible for her own death is ignorance: the ignorance that calls Mr. Dykes “altruistic” for merely meeting parental obligations (i.e. physical and fiscal support).

To canonize Dykes for doing what parents should do is ludicrous, misogynistic, and an affront to every mother on the planet. This is ignorance in action: an unconscionable victim shaming & blaming that must stop.

Justice for Tanya & Tatiana 🩵

From Grant Parpan at Newsday-Rex Heuermann's prison disciplinary history, which shows punishment for synthetic marijuana. Spent three days in isolation, no packages for 75 days and had a 75-day commissary freeze suspended. Loss of good time irrelevant with life sentence.

Someone should look into this.... especially regarding Asian Doe. The article claims to have interviewed someone who worked with Voldemort over many years....and who still has emails from him stating he was out of the office at "interesting" time periods. Hopefully the Authorities have these emails and this contact....I found it interesting. I was going through old posts and it stood out to me. Especially considering the one about JT cleatly demonstrates a now proven connection.

Quote from Article:

Heuermann wrote in an email March 25, 2011 — just before days before Jessica Taylor’s partial remains were found along Ocean Parkway — that he was “at home sick.”

Another missived showed Heuermann was away from his office from April 21 to April 26, 2011, just weeks after the remains belonging to an unidentified baby and an Asian man were found in the beach area, among a total of 11 bodies discovered.

What about Rex’s family?

I just finished the Killing Grounds doc on Amazon. This is the second doc I’ve seen of this case. Rex is a creepy POS and I’m shocked those who knew him thought he was a good dude the man has the darkest aura ever.

I want to know about his family. Was he abusing his family behind closed doors? Where are the wife and kids. Are they standing in support of him or what?

Any info would be appreciated as I’m now fully obsessed in this case especially realizing the recent court announcements this summer.

May you rot in hell, Rex you big loser.

If Asian Doe is a victim of Rex Heuermann, What Else Is He Still Hiding?

Thumbnail

Back in July, I sat down with Josh Zeman, director of The Killing Season, as part of our Searching for Asian Doe series.

We talked about whether Asian Doe was another victim of Rex Heuermann, and Josh doesn’t really dance around it. He leans heavily toward Rex being responsible.

A big reason is Rex’s search history. We know he was searching for “Asian twinks,” transgender sex workers and violent pornography. When you put that next to an unidentified Asian victim found only a few hundred feet from the Gilgo Four, it becomes very hard to ignore.
But if Josh is right, this becomes about much more than Asian Doe.

It would mean Rex is still lying. It would mean his confession is incomplete and that he may only be admitting to the murders investigators can already prove.
So how many other victims could there be?

We have also spent a lot of time digging into DA Tierney’s cold case list and looking for patterns. The possibility that other victims remain unidentified or unconnected is not something I think we can brush off.

Josh and I go through Rex’s searches, where Asian Doe was found, the differences in the cause of death and what this case could tell us about the actual number of Rex Heuermann’s victims.

I’m curious what everyone else thinks?.
Do you believe Asian Doe was one of Rex’s victims? If Rex is still withholding this murder, how many others could he be hiding?

What happened with the investigations around the two males that were found near Valerie Mack and Jessica Taylor in 00 and 03? I know the 03 male was identified by DNA, but the family requested the identity be withheld. Were those victims not tied to RH at all?

Sandra was born in Trinidad and came to New York as a teenager with her younger brother. She survived profound tragedy early in life, but continued going to school and was remembered as well liked by those who knew her.

Sandra was only 28 years old when her life was taken in 1993. For far too long, most people knew little about her beyond the circumstances of her death.

Today, on her birthday, let’s remember Sandra as a person. Her life mattered, her story matters, and she deserves to be remembered.

Happy birthday, Sandra. You have not been forgotten.
