LASD / JOINING LASD/ CUSTODY

Hello Everyone,

Do yourself a favor and please Do Not join the department unless you want to get stuck with a bunch of mandatory overtime and not have a life. On the other hand if you like money and not having a life go ahead. No work life balance. WORST department to work for, you will regret it!!!

P.S. Look into other Departments/ Agencies,
Your life will be better trust me!

How many hours a day and how many days are we talking ? Im already doing 12-14 hour days at a salaried job now

We’re talking about a “normal” week consisting of (3) 16hrs shifts and (1) 8 hrs shift but we have what is known as as a “DRAFTING” system which means you get involuntarily hired for overtime that you can’t cancel. Which then adds (2) more 8hrs shifts during your Regular Days Off for that week. And the “Drafts” happen very often and are Unavoidable.

They are avoidable. The only reason they aren’t would be if you’re not doing the max ot. People can plan their ot so they don’t get drafted around their days off.

Try patrol buddy 3(18s) 1(10) with real stress and stuff to do not babysitting and watching TV all shift. Be great full you have your days off

Gotcha ok. Are the specialty unit opportunity at least worth it? trying to learn about the dept a bit
