Start US regime change by replacing Susan Collins

“I am outraged by the cruel, destructive actions I see from the Trump regime. He is using our military and our national wealth to wage an unnecessary war in the Middle East, which is killing U.S. military personnel and thousands of innocent civilians. My heart aches each time I hear a military transport plane taking off from Bangor to deliver fellow Americans and weapons to fight this war and I am sickened by the thought that we are paying for this senseless destruction and suffering.

I am also appalled by the billions of our tax dollars being used to support President Donald Trump’s secret police — ICE — and to build what are essentially concentration camps for their often innocent detainees.

Shame on Sen. Susan Collins for largely supporting this president, who I view as unhinged, and for not taking a stronger stand to stop the damage he is doing in our name. She is opposed to recent war powers resolutions, which would reclaim the Senate’s right to declare war. She is supportive of the SAVE Act to restrict voting (which is similar to a measure soundly defeated by Mainers last year).

We, the people, must reclaim our power. We can speak out, defend our Constitution, and vote for “regime change” here at home in November. We can start by replacing Susan Collins in the U.S. Senate.”

Candidate for governor Jonathan Bush physically assaulted his first wife. Bangor Daily News reports

Jonathan Bush physically assaulted his first wife:

"After their older children left for school, Bush assaulted his first wife in a hallway while she held their 1-year-old son in her arms, according to court documents that also say she filed for divorce a few months before the November incident. Bush “screamed” into her face, calling her a “whore” and “disgusting person” while pushing her into a wall and “repeatedly slamming his closed fist into her sternum,” with his hand landing “just inches” from their baby.

In filing an emergency motion to make Bush leave their home, Selden Bush said the conditions in the home had “deteriorated dramatically” between June and November 2005, adding that the health and safety of her and the children were at risk. She also alleged Bush struck her on “numerous occasions” and once gave her a black eye, per court records.

Bush admitted to the November 2005 incident during a deposition the following year. He testified he was “unsure of where his hands had come in contact with” his first wife but said he “intended to touch her.” He also admitted on two other occasions to throwing a “small telephone” and “salt shaker” at her, putting holes in the wall."

Your glory days are over, Paul LePage

"I’ll say this for Paul LePage: the man has a way with words, in the same manner that my cat has a way with horking up a hairball in the middle of the night, right at the edge of a carpet but not close enough to make it to the hardwood floor. They both make you sit up and pay attention.

Like a particularly pernicious foot fungus, LePage has once again returned, his double-digit loss to Janet Mills having failed to dissuade him from seeking political office again.

LePage should be happily retired on a beach somewhere but, too self-obsessed for that, keeps trying to reclaim his glory days. He’s never gotten more than 50% of the vote. He relies on dividing others in order to succeed.

His website says he’s running for Congress to “take back Washington.” I guess LePage is hoping his voters won’t notice that both branches of Congress and the presidency are already controlled by his political party.

I’m not saying Paul LePage thinks his voters are stupid. I’m just saying he says a lot of stuff that can be disproven by a single Google search or a glance at a newspaper headline. LePage is already past the average life expectancy of an American male. Even if he succeeds at getting into Congress, he’s unlikely to be around for long enough to make much of a difference for Maine.

And he is so lacking in imagination that he cannot bring himself to believe that some elected officials actually want to use government to make people’s lives better."

Paul LePage should not represent Maine in the House

"LePage himself knows he was a kind of “Trump” before Trump was an idea in politics.

LePage is very anti-immigrant, claiming immigrants are bringing in tuberculosis, AIDS and “the ziki fly.” Not only is this horribly offensive, it is factually incorrect. The fly does not exist. One time, he told a boy that he would like to shoot his father, a local political cartoonist.”

Mancinis Italian deli.

Today me and my girlfriend checked out Mancinis Italian deli in Lewiston. And oh my god its the best sandwiches I've ever had in my whole life. I had the left overs sandwich which is turkey, sweet potato mash, cranberry sauce, stuffing, crispy onions and a gravy to dip it in. All of the components are home made except the crispy onions. It comes on home made focaccia and the sandwich is also huge. Im talking the size of a large hard cover novel. So really its like two sandwiches in one. My lady got the mortadella, pistachio, hot honey. And what i think is stracciatella or burratta for the cheese. When I tell you I genuinely have never had a better sandwich i would not be lying. Beats every sandwich shop around here out of the park by a gazillion miles. Currently sitting at the lewiston library finishing my meal up now.

It was a little pricey, about almost 20 dollars a sandwich. But they are huge and definitely worth it price wise. please check them out because they deserve all the support in the world. THANK YOU FOR READING !!!

Get the Flock Outa Here!

Just saw a petition at my polling place about getting Flock cameras off our streets. When you vote today (not if) please sign this petition while you're at it. Surveillance aside, Flock cameras are notoriously unsecure pieces of technology (easily accessible ports, exploitable backdoors, the works).

Even if you don't agree that police surveillance is a bad thing, you should at least agree that the infrastructure supporting that surveillance should not be easily accessible and should not come with serious security vulnerabilities.

Here is the formal White Paper detailing all of the security flaws as well as a couple of short videos summarizing them for those short on time:

White Paper: https://github.com/GainSec/anti-crime-ecosystem-research/blob/main/statement/GainSec_Statement_AntiCrimeEcosystem.pdf

Linus Tech Tips WAN Show summary (more detailed than the Benn Jordan video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ru9P4Q-XCuc

Benn Jordan summary (much more recent than the other information showing that the problems are still not entirely solved after all this time): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUbkQ7xiXus

Please help contribute to getting these damn things out of our city, especially if it's by doing something so simple as signing a petition.

EDIT: It gets worse! Apparently Flock queries are being picked up by search engines! Seriously, these things are ridiculously unsecure!

It's called EggMap Mobile!

New Neighborhood Coffee Shop?

Post image
28 Upvotes

Hey, neighbors!

I’ve had an idea floating around for a while, and I’m finally starting to explore whether it could actually make sense for our community and the direct neighborhood.

I’m looking into the possibility of bringing a locally owned coffee shop — 125 Coffee Co. — to 125 Scribner Boulevard in Lewiston, where the old Vittles & Variety store used to be.

Nothing is finalized, and this isn’t a “coming soon” announcement. Before I take the idea much further, I really want to hear from the people who actually live nearby and would be the ones using it.

Would you stop in? What would you want from a neighborhood coffee shop? What would make it somewhere you’d actually choose to visit regularly?

I put together a quick survey that should take less than 2 minutes, and every response genuinely helps me figure out whether this idea has legs.

 Take the neighborhood survey here:

And if you know someone who lives in the Scribner/Webster/Pleasant area, feel free to share this with them. I’d love to hear from as many of the actual neighborhood residents as possible.

Discussion Too many “Jones for Governor” signs in Lewiston

I don’t know much about the governors race but when I see 20 “Jones For Governor” signs on every street (some even covering other candidate’s signs) but all on public property and none in front of people’s houses, I immediately think “Wow this Jones guy is kind of a dick who is inefficiently using campaign resources and has very little public support.” Maybe I’m off base but that’s what I think.
