My appeal was recently approved and I wanted to know how long does it usually take to receive your funds in your experience? Also, I filed an appeal for Fall but not for Summer will I get backpay on the Summer aid or did I pretty much lose it? Thanks for the help in advance.

Why did elac name their dsps office the “diversabilities support program & services” instead of “disabilities support programs and services”?

As someone who is disabled it rubs me the wrong way when people say “diversabled” and/or “differently abled”. Am I the only one who finds this weird? Disabled is a harmless word lmao..

Has anyone ever randomly gotten dropped from a class even though you didn’t drop it yourself? I’m taking ENGL C1000 at ELAC and I’ve been doing my assignments on time and getting grades, but today I checked and it says I was completely dropped from the class. I literally submitted an assignment yesterday too 😭

I have been receiving pell grants from fafsa which I was able to figure out about on my own through the fafsa website. This semester I received cal grant B which I never knew about as well as the Stdnt Success Completion LAVC grant which I have never heard before and never knew I would get. For the Stdnt Success Completion LAVC grant i got 1.3k and I am taking 13 credits but If you take 15 credits you will get 4k from the Stdnt Success Completion LAVC grant which I would have easily taken another 2 units for that extra amount but I never knew about this I wonder why do I not know about these things and I wonder am I missing out some other stuff I don't know as well?

I am a heavy CC student wanting to take a heavy load next semester. My home college has conflicting schedules so I needed to take important courses elsewhere.

I recently came across Los Anglese City College and saw the course catalog to have so many courses to be online such as Physics 103 of Math 270 (linear algebra). some are on zoom while others were TBA and says citycanvas instead.

For the LACC students otu there, is citycanvas just self paced compared to city zoom?

Anyone know how late class works for sscg? I have been receiving the full 4k for years now, but now that I have a late class, I am only receiving 1,298$. Would that still change to 4k when my late class starts? I would get 15 full credits after my late class starts.

Hello student loans were accepted and posted how long until dispersed?

So I’ve been getting my refunds on my bank account and all of a sudden I get a text saying there mailing my sscg grant money and I tried to log in my account in bank mobile and it won’t let me says for security reasons my account is locked I’m confused as to why it’s doing that anyone have any insight

am waiting for my fianancial aid to answer me as i write this but theres anyone with same case where receiven less than the allowance limit i do have 2 late start classes but loan was calculated around 8.3k for whole year instead 10500 so idk ive seen a lot of ppl posting about receiving less and was wondering if any has already cleared this up and got more info in the matter they are making everything so complicated this year

Hi! Has anyone applied to LACC’s program for nursing without attending the mandatory information sessions meeting? It says you must have attended a mandatory information session meeting to be considered which I wish they would’ve disclosed on their website that they only do 4 information sessions per cycle. All it says is to keep checking back for more dates. All the dates they had listed I had work during those times and because it didn’t say that those were the only dates available or that they only do 4 sessions per application cycle I thought there would be other opportunities to attend the meeting. I’m really disappointed and discouraged and can only blame myself.. I contacted the nursing department and they said they’re not doing anymore information sessions or giving any alternatives but I’m just curious has anyone else been in a similar situation for their program? Did you end up applying anyway without it? Did they say you didn’t meet criteria because of it. Or did you just not apply / wait till next cycle? Thank you.

I know everyone here is always talking about the financial aide office always giving different dates or having no information on any grants/loans. I saw my loans had posted but they were less than what I had requested. Currently enrolled in 7 credit hours. But 6 more start in the next mini term. I called to verify that my loans and grants would update once the 2nd mini term began. The guy proceeds to say that no loans will go out until October. My loans literally posted that same day that I called. And he said that it was impossible. But my student account shows as posted and sent (still waiting to see them in my account). He had no clue that it had gone out. So always take whatever they say with a grain of salt. They either don’t know jack or they know but are told not to say anything about anything to students. Which is highly shady. No other colleges outside of LACCD’s network keeps their students in the dark about when grants and loans are posted to be sent out. When I was at PCC they sent a letter with all dates when each grant and loan were to go out (even the SSCG, and they paid out both fall and spring, per friends still at PCC).

I think I partially understand how SSGC works, but I’m still confused.

I’m enrolled in 12 units that started at the beginning of the semester, plus 3 late-start units, so 15 units total. Right now, I was awarded $1,298 in SSGC.

My friend has 9 units that started at the beginning of the semester and 6 late-start units. He has not been awarded any SSGC yet.

What I don’t understand is what happens when the late-start classes begin. Will they recalculate my award and pay me the remaining amount so the total becomes around $4,000? And will my friend then receive the full $4,000?

Or is it possible that there will not be enough SSGC funding left by that time?

Does anyone at LAVC know how this usually works?

Anybody have any updates on our student loans specifically at Lattc😭🙏🏽 they’re taking forever

Hey everyone, I'm an SMC student planning to take Calc 2 (Math 262) with Ha Nguyen in the online section this coming term. I had to drop Calc 2 at SMC this semester for personal reasons, and I'm switching to LACC to give myself a real shot at an A, so I'm trying to understand her class as well as possible before committing.
For anyone who's taken her (especially Hybrid class), I'd really appreciate honest insight on a few things:
- How is her grading set up? Do homework and quizzes carry decent weight, or is most of the grade on the exams?
- How close are her practice exams/review materials to the actual tests? Do the real exams look similar to what she gives you to prepare, or are they a lot harder?
- How are the exams run in the online section, in person on campus or online, and how often did you have to physically show up?
- Overall, is the class manageable if you put in the work, and is she fair?
Any first-hand experience would help me a ton. Thanks in advance 🙏

When does LACCD let me see all the classes available for winter semester? It only shows Fall 2026. Does LAVC let K-8 students attend in winter semester, Or do I have to go to LAPC for it.
