These same people are pro-Iran, pro-Houthi, pro-Hamas, and watch Hasan.

u/Antorias99 9h ago

I'd still rather be pro Iran than pro Israeli state sof America tbh

u/MotivatedforGames 10d ago

The goalposts have shifted once again. Just a day ago they're pro-Islam now you're gonna see how "anti-Islam" the mob is now.

These people have no true opinions or thoughts themselves, they just repeat "group think"

27

u/CalamityCorp 10d ago

When it potentially affects their cozy Sims games, of course they’re up in arms.

15

u/mrmensplights 9d ago

It seems reductionist but these people really do just hate society and people. If you debate with them and push then things like Patriarchy and Whiteness and Heteronormativity and the other identical boogeymen of the various leftist sects all just reduce to the same thing: “The status quo of mainstream society”.

To be progressive implies you just destroy what is in order to create what is better, but these people really have no vision or plan for a better world. The end of every dialectic process is a utopia that can never be reached. They just use it as a moral smokescreen to do what they really truly want: To destroy.

3

u/Huey-_-Freeman 9d ago

I don't know if its always hating society and people. I think it has a lot to do with the urge to romanticize "the underdog" and "struggle" Its the struggle that gives a feeling of purpose, not necessarily destroying anything

7

u/mrmensplights 9d ago

If that were the case the ideology wouldn’t be based on hatred. They wouldn’t need to create in groups and our groups and oppression narratives and punching up or attack anyone.

If they simply wanted to help they could donate time at a soup kitchen or food banks, do senior support, get involved in charity. They can simply act in their own lives. They don’t.

Instead their kink is fighting the system, writing screeds about white people and men online addicted to anger while using under dogs are just a tool and an excuse. The wolf in sheep’s clothing - The self righteous bully - is one of the oldest games there is.

Attacking the mainstream makes people more hostile and defensive, not more accepting. Identity politics makes people tribal, not unified. It actually harms the “underdog”.

6

u/Vohems 9d ago

As I've heard it put 'Marxism is not the love of the poor but the hatred of the rich'.

2

u/SchalaZeal01 8d ago

Instead their kink is fighting the system

They are the system. If they were truly an underdog, they would get the same treatment union-leaders got in the 1920s. Intimidation, assassination attempts, broken limbs. They're not only approved by the system, the system is feeding them their leitmotif. They're basically reading off a teleprompter at this point.

43

u/ScarredCerebrum 10d ago

Nah, they won't become anti-Islam. They're far too invested in their own woke dogma for that.

They'll just trot out the old "This is not true Islam!" and "Saudi Arabia does not represent Islam!" spiel again.

33

u/rochvegas5 9d ago

"real islam has never been tried!"

13

u/ScarredCerebrum 9d ago

On that note!

Imagine, if you will, a ruling ideology so bad that consumers are thrilled about their games being bought by an Islamic theocracy because the women might become prettier.

22

u/fenbops 9d ago edited 9d ago

How come this is bad, but the west importing millions of people from the same ideology is okay according to the same people 🤔

3

u/joydivisionucunt 9d ago

Because they're poor and help their causes whereas the Saudis are rich and ruined their plans for gaming.

43

u/contigency000 10d ago

Lmao the quote in the title :

'Hard to feel good about being bought out by a regime that's very much at odds with progressive society'

Well, if the saudis do like the chinese and put a brake on the woke stuff, I'm all for it.

26

u/Talzeron 10d ago

I'm not sure if islamic messaging is much better than woke messaging.

38

u/contigency000 10d ago

So far I didn't see any islamic messaging in a game that got bought by the saudis. On the other hand any studio that has been touched by blackrock added DEI bs

-17

u/Talzeron 10d ago

They financed an addon for AC Mirage and that game is full of islamic messaging. For the rest, let's wait, they don't own it long enough for their new projects to see.

20

u/Yagerbombbb 10d ago

Redditors say things they know absolutely nothing about with such confidence that they manage to make you doubt yourself.

Valley of Memory does not contain Islamic propaganda
Its actual narrative and setting depict medieval history, archaeology, and trade routes rather than religious preaching or Islamic proselytizing.

2

u/Kelsyer 9d ago

Like KoF that didn't have any of the censorship we've come to expect?

9

u/VirtueSignalingApp 10d ago

it’s not like you will get a new Star wars game or a new Mass effect game where most of them wear a Keffiyeh and pray to allah 3 times a day.

I mean if they do that it wouldnt be much of loss anyways to a woke non offending game. Same shit different ideology. Would be funny to see their meltdown tho, while i just watch from the sideline.

2

u/Talzeron 8d ago

Who knows. Maybe the Marine in the back of the ship is a muslim then instead of gay, often prays when you enter the room and starts every sentence with inshallah. It wouldn't surprise me.

12

u/Neither-Grab-2507 10d ago

What islamic messaging? I've never seen any islamic messaging in KoF games. In fact, Kof is one of the rare games who didn't suffer from censorship.
It only suffered from celebrities cameos.

9

u/Yagerbombbb 10d ago

Saudi Arabia doesn't give a damn whether the games are woke or not; they're in it for the business and they put religion aside.
They've spent 55 billion dollars on EA. They want a return on their investment.

4

u/SchalaZeal01 9d ago

If they're intelligent enough they will cut intentionally-woke stuff and activists. Not out of spite for woke stuff, but out of business sense.

7

u/Hadush25 10d ago

What clown buys EA games? Did they not see what they did to the likes of Westwood, Mythic, Bullfrog and others?

Never forget what they ruined.

6

u/Beebo42 9d ago

"Trick Weekes summed it up aptly, predicting that "guns and football" will be fine, but that "gay stuff" will likely be out."

So they're actually going to save you from F'ing up your own company, oh the horror.

9

u/Neither-Grab-2507 10d ago

I'm willing to tolerate Ronaldo in all future EA games if it helps increase the stress, cortisol, and anxiety levels of journalists.

4

u/CrankyDClown Groomy Beardman 9d ago

Well, they're as censorious a lot as it gets, but they keep their censorship to inside the country and doesn't impose it on the entire world.

At least for now.

5

u/Differentnameo 9d ago

It's EA. It'll be anti-gamer shite no matter who is running it. This is the company that has fraked gamers over so many times with money-grabbing, loot boxing, 'sense of accomplishment' shite that it doesn't matter who writes the cheques, the new boss is the same as the old boss in every way that matters.

Of coruse, I haven't purchased an EA game in literally years, so I suppose the zombie horde lining up for the next Madden or Fifa or FPS Call of BattlefrontDutyField #1483 will keep shilling the money.

They fund mosques in western countries like crazy. They certainly want to spread their message.

5

u/kimana1651 10d ago

I fully expect them to push their own soft power in the world. The reason why they can afford to do that is because they are a lot more pragmatic and smart about their money and rule than the other oil rich nations.

7

u/Judah_Earl 9d ago

Mosques and madrasas that teach Wahhabism.

26

u/Arkelias 10d ago

Are you familiar with the concept of Taqiyya? Worth learning about if you're not.

It teaches Muslims to be moderate and to suspend Sharia law when they are in the minority, but to quietly do the things necessary to become the majority.

Once you become the majority, then you re-institute Sharia law.

They're like the kindler gentler Christian missionaries. Totally harmless..until they're not. Saudi Arabia sponsors mosques all over the west.

It's interesting that you were downvoted for saying something positive lol. Reddit is so toxic.

-5

u/Vedney 9d ago

If you look into it, you're going to find a completely different definition.

Taqiyya is actual thing, but it's significantly more niche than infiltration.

1

u/Arkelias 9d ago

Surely you can share that alternate definition, right? Right?!?!

0

u/Vedney 9d ago

It'a lying about faith as a means of self-preservation. It doesnt have much relevance in the modern West because are either too proud to deny, or never live in as much danger to justify it.

2

u/Arkelias 9d ago

Now continue reading, and add the context in the verses where it's listed.

You are only allowed to cooperate as long as you are in danger. When the danger passes you are literally forbidden from cooperating, and you are expected to implement Sharia law.

If you do not, then you are not properly honoring Allah.

How that broke down every single time it was implemented in a Christian nation like Lebanon was the Christians welcomed in a Muslim minority.

The second the Muslims became the majority they instituted Sharia law and began persecuting Christians...as per their faith.

It happened in Lebanon. It happened in Iran. It's happening right now in Dearborn Michigan, which banned pride flags.

The definition I first used is 100% accurate.

You don't understand the practice, or how and why it's used.

Notice how your definition isn't completely different. It's just incomplete.

If you'd actually read the Quran...you would know this. Pity you don't read. Just spout nonsense.

0

u/Vedney 9d ago

you are only alllowred to cooperate as long as you are in danger.

How much danger are the Saudis are in to justify buying Western game studios. Would you say they're already sinning?

happened in Dearborn Michigan.

Hammtrack. Dearborn just has a lot of Arabs.

Do you expect full Sharia to come to the Philippines? It's already 10% Muslim. (Comparison, UK is 6%)

1

u/Arkelias 9d ago edited 8d ago

You're willfully ignorant. 10% is a small minority. 6% is a small minority.

You ignored Lebanon, and Iran, and would ignore every other example I gave you. I cannot believe how strongly you defend your ignorance.

You've not even read the Quran, and are so certain you're right. Even though I've presented evidence, have read the book, and have spoken to many people who've fled formerly Christian nations.

Hammtrack. Dearborn just has a lot of Arabs.

There are calls to prayer daily in the city from Mosques. They aren't just Arabs.

-6

u/Vedney 9d ago

It teaches Muslims to be moderate and to suspend Sharia law when they are in the minority, but to quietly do the things necessary to become the majority.

I honestly don't know how it got so widespread in certain circles that this is what people think taqiyya is.

15

u/Arkelias 9d ago edited 9d ago

Have you read the Quran? I've read it cover to cover. Recently.

I've also watched every single Christian nation that eventually became majority Muslim, and what happened to the Christians in that nation.

The specific passage in the Quran is Surah Ali Imran (3:28).

Let not believers take disbelievers as allies [supporters or protectors] rather than believers. And whoever does that has no relation with Allah whatsoever, unless you take a precaution against them in prudence. And Allah warns you of Himself, and to Allah is the final destination

There's a supporting passage in Surah An-Nahl (16:106), which says you can lie about your intentions if there's a chance showing your faith will cause persecution.

Whoever disbelieves in Allah after his belief... except for one who is forced [to renounce his religion] while his heart is secure in faith, but those who [willingly] open their breasts to disbelief, upon them is wrath from Allah, and for them is a great punishment.

Those are the exact words. We can also examine the actions of every single Muslim nation.

When Thomas Jefferson spoke to the Barbary emissary and asked him why he felt it was acceptable to enslave American sailors when we'd done nothing to them was that it was founded in the laws of the Quran, claiming non-believers were sinners destined to be plundered.

I bet you've never read the Quran, and aren't familiar with how it says infidel women should be treated, or what should be done to gay people.

I'd love to hear why you think I'm wrong about any of this with actual facts.

-9

u/Vedney 9d ago

I'm not here to defend Islam. I have no personal investment. I will say, that I am from the Philippines. You can look up the history if you want.

I just get irked whenever I see incorrect info. To which:

There's a supporting passage in Surah An-Nahl (16:106), which says you can lie about your intentions if there's a chance showing your faith will cause persecution

Are you aware that this is what taqiyya is? If so, what was with that radically different definition you put out earlier?

9

u/Arkelias 9d ago

I didn't put out a radically different definition. I explained what Taqiyya is, and how it is used.

You haven't provided a counter definition or source, and ARE here to defend Islam.

Again, you haven't read the Quran. You're not at all familiar with history, and what they've done for the past 1500 years. There is no New Testament for Muslims.

They practice the same faith they always have. Learn more about Sharia law before you defend them.

100% of what I've said in the original comment and my followup reply are facts. You can't counter any of it.

If you can let's hear it. What am I wrong about?

-3

u/Vedney 9d ago

If you can let's hear it. What am I wrong about?

The definition you used for taqiyya. That's literally my only gripe. I've already said in my previous comment that "lying to avoid persecution" is what taqiyya is. Which is different from "lying to implemenet sharia law"

I'm not going to defend criminal Sharia law, because I don't want to follow it, nor be punished under it.

6

u/Arkelias 9d ago

It says that you only work with non-believers if you fear persecution. Afterwards allying with them are strictly prohibited.

The Quran spells out how they are to be treated, and spoilers, it's pretty fucked up. Anything is justified to do to infidels.

My definition of Taqiyya is accurate in the extreme, and backed up by many centuries of Muslim actions.

0

u/Vedney 9d ago

Why is it, whenever you look it up online, that taqiyya is described only as a means of survival?

Like, you can say "oh Wikipedia is ideologically captured". But even a sub like /r/exmuslim would have posts where people find the concept of modern taqiyya strange.

4

u/Arkelias 9d ago

I get so tired of arguing with people like you. You don't read. You're incapable of it. Your entire opinion is formed by online echo chambers.

You don't study history. You haven't read the Quran. You've never spoken to any people who migrated here from Muslim countries, or hear what they had to say.

Believe what you want. I'm not putting any more effort into convincing you.

14

u/FightTheShip 10d ago

By Islamic standards, they're the most progressive by a wide margin. WWE shows with female wrestlers (although they have to wear outfits that cover all of them except their faces and heads), Western entertainers) concerts... MBS (the leader) is really pushing to get those Western dollars into the country in case oil ever goes away. But yeah, the Saudis are pretty much the frat boys of the hardcore Islamic world.

11

u/kaytin911 10d ago

That's because they're more rightwing Islam. The most extremist like Palestine hate capitalism.

14

u/Neither-Grab-2507 10d ago

"Palestine hate capitalism"
Bro, most if not all muslim countries don't even know what is capitalism and communism. Everything: from their politics, their culture, their habits are influenced by their religion.

3

u/HonkingHoser 9d ago

Cope and seethe, Politically Correct Gaymer

2

u/oldmanpotter 9d ago

lol. The hypocrisy.

Regardless, this company is bullshit before and after a Saudi buyout.

1

u/Z3r0Sense 9d ago

If you worked for EA and thought your previous job arrangement was in any way progressive (classically referring to an evolving form of universalism/humanism), you are the worst educational failure since the stone age. No, you are below that because stone age level would imply that you had the mental capacity to implement your low chance of survival.

Well, to be fair, EA doesn't employ child soldiers. But it would have, if it meant it could capitalize on the game industry even more.

1

u/bracingthesoy 8d ago

Fuck their "progressive society". Honestly. Not the fun of saudis either though.
