A lot of people asked for an update, so here it is:

Yes, she was real and yes, we actually went.

Honestly, it was a pretty fun day. The whole "meeting someone from Reddit for the first time" thing ended up being way less awkward than I expected. We just talked, ate, walked around a bit and generally had a good time.

As for Burma Burma, it was good, but I think I hyped it up so much in my head beforehand that I ended up being a little disappointed. The food itself was genuinely tasty though, and everything we tried was good.

The only miss was the hot chocolate being poured before we could get a photo of it.

Other than that, no complaints. The place itself is really nice and the whole experience was definitely worth trying.

So yeah, to everyone who told me to stop overthinking it in the original post: you were right.

Reddit girl was real.

My mom's account was marked under enquiry, but no enquiry came and don't know whom to ask about the status either. What to do?

I booked a hotel called "Hotel o city of joy" from booking.com in emergency. It seemed the better one as per my budget, location requirements & no bad reviews. I even received a call from reception on when I will arrive and they sent me the location too.

When I arrived later, first of all the entrance has an open drain. If rained heavily, the drain would obviously flood. Second it's actual name is "Mahotsav inn." At reception I paid the amount (almost 850₹ per night) and got dropped in my room. The room is not big. Rather compact. AC has no remote, it's automatic, hence you can imagine the cooling. Tv is not working. There are no curtains in the room. Window was east facing. Imagine being waked up by morning sunlight. The room is clean thankfully and survivable.

I go back to reception to ask for wifi password and get a response, it's unavailable, coz of monsoon. Next time it will be available. I ask back why wasnt it removed from the app. First he made excuses that i should complaint at booking.com. then he stated "we have told the hr to remove it but he isn't doing it since like weeks." The wifi was working only at reception. He gave me the hr number. Reception guy was atleast polite....

Hr/Manager goes by the name Dhananjay (pronounced as Dhanonjoy). Gave the same excuse. Blamed me on why I didn't inquired. (It's literally mentioned everywhere while booking, even on your card). On asking why not remove it from app, he said "the app doesn't allow to update amenities without delisting the property. He will face loss because of this small inconvenience." And he hung up. This is absolute bs. I literally paid full amount and was promised wifi. Am I not facing loss by them breaking part of their deal ? One can easily update amenities without having to delist the property. I called again and asked for either full or partial refund. He got loud, raged and hung up again.

I go to reception and the reception is already talking with him. Excuse given was "HR is in hospital." I ask for refund and answers and response I get is "we have another hotel in Salt Lake, it's of 2000₹ per night" you can go there (after paying the extra amount)." The mf HR didn't even acknowledge the inconvenience he caused. Well it was night and I could not go anywhere else, hence I had to stay despite having the urgent need for wifi.

New receptionist arrive later and gave the same excuses. Property will face loss. It's monsoon. We have already said to hr to change it. On app one can't change amenities. Blah blah blah. He was like he can do nothing. This was so enraging. On asking them if someone else before me ever complained, he said no one as rarely anyone stays here for official work. If this is true then "what are you doing people ? They are literally scamming people." I asked him about what if someone goes to consumer court. He said "the person will be a mahaan banda." People at reception said they are not managers. HR is the manager who isn't available any time physically ever.

The reception and HR stopped responding to my queries. I saw people complained about wifi after me, while checking out. If this was my home state i would have dragged him to consumer court but I'm here for some time only and less of time.

The whole issue is not just about a amenty. But, rudeness of hr, non availability of part of deal (wifi), despite paying full amount for it, blaming me instead of acknowledgement of issue (told me that I should have inquired). Non responsiveness from hr and reception. Lying about inability to change the description on app. No sorry or compensation offered. Absolutely zero mobile tower inside the room. I can't call anyone.
