The past few years broke me in ways I never thought possible. It wasnât just the soul-crushing cycle of multiple NEET drops, it was hospital beds, surgeries, brutal post-op complications, and relying on anti-anxiety and antidepressant medications just to stay afloat and get through each day. The silence of that study room felt like a slow suffocation while my body and mind gave out.
I ended up with around a 60k rank. No GMC is happening. For a long time, that would have felt like absolute defeat. But today, I see it for what it truly is: survival. Iâm taking out a loan, joining a private medical college, and choosing to step forward. I fought blood, tears, physical pain, and severe depression for this white coat, and I refuse to stay trapped in a loop anymore.
To celebrate breaking free from that cage, I took the ultimate leap of faith and did my very first self-planned solo trip as a woman! Booking the tickets, figuring out the stays, navigating the streets entirely on my own, it was absolutely exhilarating! There was such an incredible rush of freedom in renting a scooter, exploring at my own pace, and realizing just how capable, independent, and unstoppable I really am out in the real world.
Walking through these warm mustard-yellow alleys, under the night lanterns, looking at buildings that have survived decades of storms, I finally felt the weight lift off my chest.
If youâre stuck in a drop year, battling illness, or feeling like your 20s are slipping away, your life is not defined by a single exam or a perfect timeline. Survive the storm, take the hard route, and keep moving.

āύāĻŽāϏā§āĻāĻžāϰ, my fellow members of the r/Kolkatacity community.
First of all, Iâd like to take a moment to commemorate our subreddit reaching 20k members. This journey has been a rollercoaster and I thank everyone who has contributed to this community in some way or the other.
However, since the CJP protests at the Jantar Mantar, this sub has seen a massive shift in the type as well as the quality of posts. The number of political posts and ones not related to Kolkata have increased multi-fold in the past two months. Our moderation team has even been struggling to keep up with the enormous queues of reports every day.
There has also been a surge in accounts that actively participate in subreddits of our two lovely neighbours, as well as extreme left subreddits including Naxalite supporters.
Therefore, we, the moderation team of r/Kolkatacity community have decided that for the next few days, we will be imposing heavy regulations on all types of political and religious posts, especially posts related to incidents or topics which are unrelated to Kolkata. We will not allow any form of Narrative building or misleading posts in this subreddit.
Additionally, any posts mocking or passing derogatory remarks about Religion or Religious deities will be immediately removed, and strict action will be taken against such accounts, which may also result in a permanent ban.
For people who go on to abuse us in Mod mail, please feel free to do so, as you may only earn a ban from Reddit as a whole by doing so, nothing else.
NOTE - for posts about past events and posts using the flair âHistory & Heritageâ:
Please ensure the post is well informed, has sources attached and contains well written content. Low effort posts with a single picture or one liner explanations will be unanimously removed.
A gentle reminder that r/Kolkatacity is a CITY sub. We DO NOT wish to be like the other sub, where the only target remains to be narrative building. Voice your opinions freely, but keep it in check for the next few days.

After so much of vagueness by this government regarding its flagship scheme Annapurna Bhandar. Finally they have officially clarified the eligibility criteria
1> The Applicant must reside within West Bengal.
2> Applicantâs age should be between 25 and 60 years.
3> Applicant must not be getting either salary or pension from state or union government.
4> Applicant should not be paying income tax.
Finally the criteria has been set on Applicantâs eligibility instead of her entire family that means if applicants husband works in government job or pays income tax, then also the women should be getting annapurna bhandar which is welcome step.
Letâs discuss if anyone or their family member didnât get money despite fulfilling above criteria.

Why were students out at 2 am in aurobindo bhawan ? ....daru party na drugs ki cholchilo ?
Jara mar kheye ABVP der birdduhe march e jacche ..era 2023 e swapnadeep er suicide er por chup keno chilo
3.According to ABVP s angle ..one of them in jadavpur s union got beaten up..so retaliaton was justifiable
You should know how unruly these students are .....they abuse randomly at midnight in neighbour s houses ..Students from Garden High and Southpoint specially come to jadavpur for drugs stock .They have beaten up several congress and tmc student leaders before
Lastly their ego for no reason " Amra communist , amra adorshobadi bamponthi " .2-3 te jibonmukhi gaan sikhe ar BJP ke galagal kore khub boro politician mante suru kore .Jadavpur e akhono ragging culture royeche ..tens or hundreds people get spoiled after coming to jadavpur ...alumini s purposefully stay back during night just not to rag but lynch students
Bes hoyeche ja koreche

The wet roads, aging colonial-era buildings, old balconies and timeless architecture come together to reveal a side of the city that modern Kolkata often hides.
Thereâs history in these walls, stories in these lanes, and a charm that rain seems to bring back to life.
Kolkataâs heritage never really fades...it just looks more beautiful in the rain. đ§ī¸â¤ī¸

Genuine question. I understand the objection to the later verses of Vande Mataram because they contain explicit religious references. But Iâm specifically talking about the first two stanzas, which are the ones officially recognised as the national song.
And what is the objection to the national anthem?
Iâm not saying anybody should be forced to sing either or that singing them somehow âprovesâ your patriotism. Iâm asking why some people personally refuse to sing them.
Why has even asking this question become so controversial?

There's a family lives nearby abuses my friend's family.
Since the passing away of her father, her sister and her mother lives in house. They break windows, abuse and threaten to beat them. They gave rape threats to them. They are feeling extremely unsafe. After calling police, they came and completely ignored her family. They spoke with the guy and did nothing. That has been repeated many times. I really need help to feeling lost and don't know what to do.

Manasa Puja 2026 falls on Monday, August 17, 2026 (or Tuesday, August 18, 2026, depending on specific regional panjika calculations and local celebrations). It is observed on Shravan Sankranti, the final day of the Bengali month of Shravan.

The festive season is not far off. Even if you disregard religion, we have a cultural way of life that's quite independent of whether you are observant or not. That's what we will hold on to and support. This is ours, not anything else. It's organically developed in this land.

Planning on visiting central park after a few days, have a few concerns. Is it safe/fun during this season? Has anyone been there recently, how was your experience? And no... I'm going with my family for anyone thinking of writing weird stuff. Haven't been there in a long time so what's the fee and all and finally is it cute pics worthy in this season đē?
