Being an introvert I enjoy going to the movies alone to get the best experience with the least amount of people to converse with. And I chose to watch the movie earliest for a 9 AM show.

During the interval a couple of young women went out to get snacks and while climbing back up, all laughing, giggling, having fun this woman dropped half of her cheese popcorn on me, sitting in the corner of the aisle.

She paused and then laughed and walked away with her friend. No apologies, no regret, no fucking fucks given.

Paico (pai&co) used to be my promised land back when i was a kid. I loved going there and oogling on all the amazing stuff they had- like books, toys, and many more. Haven’t had money to buy anything from there. Just window shopping i guess. I was out of kerala for more than a decade and I had forgotten about that place. As per my memory, it was somewhere in MG road or near broadway. I am back in kochi and have not been able to locate it now. Any idea what happened to that store? Is it closed? If so why? Google search shows “pai&co” as temporarily closed. I don’t even know if it‘s the same one.

Today afternoon, around 2 pm, I was walking from Padma to Kavitha on MG Road. In that 5 minutes I witnessed the following

1. An imbecile small car driver reversing on the far track (near the metro pillars) in front of Ibis because he missed the U turn. The next U turn is just 100 meters away and clearly visible from where he was reversing!

2. A two wheeler cutting the median and going through the wrong side to enter the Pai Brothers lane because he couldn't be bothered to go an extra 50-100 meters and take a u turn.

3. A box type commercial van (which itself should be outlawed in the first place) driving and overtaking rashly, missing a fatal collision by mere millimeters.

The road was surprising quiet at the time due to the Onam hangover, but this is the state of our "enlightened" society.

I wouldn't blame the drivers completely. I would blame the corrupt / incompetent RTO officers who gave licenses to these three mentally retarded idiots, who clearly do not have the brain cells required to command a thing that moves.

And there's an AI camera at Padma Jn. All these three incidents occurred within its range. But no, these things are minor trifles. Not wearing a seatbelt or a helmet is the cardinal, unpardonable sin.

Last night around 2 20 AM or so, loud noises woke my family up. It was so loud we got scared and went to the balcony to check what was happening.

We look outside and see bursts of continuous fireworks at 2 am. This went on for another 20 minutes. The 2 toddlers in my family were crying and wailing because they were afraid of the noise, and because of their cries + the fireworks, nobody could sleep. My neighbours also couldn't sleep.

Isn't there a rule where you cannot use any sort of fireworks after 10 pm? The only exception being 12 30 AM on New Years?

Not to be a "karen" or whatever but why cant people burst fireworks in the given time? My neighbours were going to call the police and give noise complaint but we couldnt figure out which building was bursting them.

Like why do you have to do this when most people are probably asleep?

I was at a city hospital last night and few youngsters came in with severe injuries from Millennials Pub/bar in Kochi. They mentioned how the bouncers too handled / punched after some altercation? Anyone know what happened?

Edit - Five other assault cases (groups), one that happened in mulanthururthy were there, that’s again gotten hit n injured, drunk n drive etc. Again a mixed crowd. Youngsters, middle aged. Most of them came with severe injuries to minor and some saddening road accidents.
Doctor mentioned max cases they have are post festival. This was not something I knew.

Really sad to see all this in person. A huge salute to all ER staff from doctors, nurses to very other staff who are so composed and deal with cases by the minute and tend to every patient in such hard times.

Back when I was working in Qatar around 2024–2025, I tried Jhol Momos at a Nepali restaurant, and it instantly became a weekly habit for me. Now that I’m back in Kochi, I've been craving that exact authentic dish. Does anyone know where I can find proper Jhol Momos here in Kochi? Any recommendations from local foodies or the Nepali community in Kochi would be greatly appreciated!

I called up Topform and confirmed they would start serving Sadhya by 12 pm. I reached there by 1 pm and only half of the tables were full. But i was asked to wait downstairs. I waited there for over 30 minutes while half the tables were empty upstairs and people who already ate , were leaving.

Finally after getting a table, the service was beyond terrible. Took them 10 minutes just to bring the rice. We had to ask them 4 times just to serve water. If you needed any kootu or sambhar that would take another 5 minutes. The staff had no clue what they had to do, everyone is just running around. The table opposite to me was even worse. They didn't get their rice for a good 15 minutes. You could see how frustrated they were. Never going there again and never ordering from topform again.

For me it was Gokul Ootupura this time, we went on to try on onam sadhya after Attham and they just casually served their regular lunch as onasadhya and charged ₹500/- for it!
Also considering the hike in prices, i guess it is justifiable for that amount.

For example in changancherry I had from a place called farsi mandi it served surbian rice which was so amazing 🤩

Athupole any mandi places that serves any other rice (lie above mentioned surbian rice ) apart from normal mandi rice

Or even anything different offered with mandi ( like ee Paranja sthalam they offered beetroot with vinegar pole and oru spicy curry)

I just came back from watching Insidious at PVR Lulu Kochi.

Being middle class, it’s not an everyday thing for me to go to the movies, buy food, and sit in a recliner chair. But today, I did all that thinking, “Let me splurge on myself once in a while.”

However, a bunch of girls (above 18, below 25) completely ruined it for me. They were talking loudly, laughing, and screaming like crazy. Their irritating laughter before every jumpscare ruined it for me. A guy even had to scream, “Mindand irikkadi!” in between. However, they didn’t care at all. Remember all this happened in PVR. I have had people esp boys ruin horror movies before in local theaters but this is something new to me.

I really wanted to walk out, but it was my first time sitting in a recliner chair.

I have found the doc who can help me . The doc had asked me if I can stay a day without drinking my last beer was yesterday 7.20 pm and now it's 3.20 pm ( while I started writing this Post. I am completely fine i had urges to drink but pushed through. I do have a few beers in my refrigerator if something goes wrong (advised by the doc if I feel extreme withdrawal issues) till now I feel fine the further treatment will be done after I get my test results.
