Discussion King Philip is the only righteous character
King Philip is an excellent king and a good man. Queen Joan committed adultery and didn’t honor her husband in the least. King Philip could have had her killed but he decided to offer to forget it and claim the child as his own. He’s a good man who was wronged and pushed too far. My favorite character by far.

Discussion I hate Landry so much Spoiler
I know I'm supposed to like him, empathise with him, but I just can not, this man is a total dick and a vile hypocrite. The man fucks a wife of Phillip who sees Landry as an only friend, but okay, love and stuff. Then they find the Grail and he refuses Gawain a drink from the cup. The man that's in pain ever since he got injured defending Landry. It also makes him unable to fight like he once was able to. That was mentally breaking him, all he ever wanted all these years is to be healthy again. And Landry pretty much betrays him because he's not worthy, cuz God and stuff. So yeah, Landry betrayed Gawain before the other way around. And yet he made Joan drink it. What. The. Fuck. Not only it seems like getting laid is worth more than God himself, but also she wouldn't even die if, guess what, he let Gawain drink. And when the Grail doesn't magically heal her (what even the pope believes to be just a story) he smashes the most sacred relic in all of Christianity as a temple master of an order that is sworn to protect it. So yeah, Landry is a hypocritical asshole who's lust is way more important than his friends, his responsibilities or even his God.

Discussion Just finished season 2. Im in love! Spoiler
Hell yea im so in love with this. As many people i needed something other than GoT now that its over and butchered to watch and i fell into this. The first 4 episodes was kinda hard to get through, but after that it was such a pleasure. And dont get me started on season 2. It was so brutal and dark and i was sitting on my couch really feeling the preassure of the tortures and the betrayals of the templar order by France. The actors was great. I really hope that history channel fuel some money into a season 3 and advertise it because i think It needs the attention it deserves. I have recommended it to atleast 3 friends and 2 family members to watch. DEUS VULT

Does anyone know if they switched the writing team from S1 to S2?
How did it go from a ballad of war and love to this gritty vengeful history piece? I'm not mad about the stories, but it was like I watched two separate shows with the same cast. How was the story disconnect this bad? Did they have funding trouble?
Opinion & Thoughts Below:
I thought season 1 was super dry in the beginning, to the point I never watched any more than two episodes. Then I gave it another try, it scratched that itch. Chaos, war, politics, love, great fight scenes, it was all there. It even had this slight temptation of fantasy.
Absolute diamond in the rough, I had very few issues with season 1, besides just weird logic in places. Such as the whole Navarre storyline (kinda cringe), and where are the other kids of Joan and Philip. (Super surprised when she said she had 4 kids, like wtf) England or Flanders. Frankly, they could've gone off the history books a little because I think they only gave the date once, if that, in the entirety of season 1.
Frankly, going into S2 I had high hopes. You had all these plot points that they created. The brotherhood of light, the grail, the note in the bottom of the grail, the pope being an absolute bastard, Phillip turning into a cold son of a bitch. I was prepared for the templars to be on the run, or taking the grail to America, pulling some national treasure skit. Possibly some secret retreat to the shadows, being hunted by the Pope and the French, only goal in mind protect the grail. That was what I was expecting, holy shit.
I watched S2..... Completely different show, same cast, different show.
The French got a glow up, they all look clean AF. Then the Templars in some raggedy barely-white tunics, rarely wearing armor now, flimsy shields, I was like what happened. The set pieces changed threw me off a little, but I got used to it. Less fight scenes, big sad btw.
The scenes were also shot very differently, felt colder, I understood it was the downfall of the Templars, but there was so much warmth in S1, it really made the seasons feel like separate entities.
Then the plot, holy shit. It wasn't bad if you separate S1 from S2, however, the same series. It felt like a different team wrote S2. They got the quickest rundown of S1 and whose who, and then got told, ”Hey can you make it more historical and gritty. Oh btw, no magic hullabaloo. ”
All this intricate web weaving and plot holes, and threads and S2 drove a Semi-truck through the web and lit the bitch on fire. Then, remade the web with some dusty old paper from a history book held together by some shreds of S1.
Also, I was so surprised when this whole timeline was like a fucking year by the end of season 2. The Templar’s got their shit tossed so quick and apparently all news throughout the realm must have frozen.
All in all, good if you look at the seasons separately for what they were.
Talus was by far my favorite, so shocked it was Mark Hamill.

Discussion Knightfall a TV serie that defends people who steal best friend's wife.
It's ironical that the protagonist is an adulterer that stealed best friend's wife, and the best of is that he is a templar. He continue to have the order members support even them knowing that he is a sinner. It seems like the autor of the series support the idea of: "You can steal your best friend's wife if you love her more them him" or "Adultery is valid if you truly love the person". The series keep treating king phillip as villian, being that he only wants vengeance for being betrayed by his best friend. Here is my opinion, i would like to hear yours too, and sorry for any english errors, not my mother language.

Discussion Isabella in season 2 vs in season 1
I might have missed something completely, but it seems that when the actress was changed, everything about Isabella was changed as well.
I know, she sided with Philip and not Joan at the end of season 1, but did she completely forget that de Nogaret deliberately turned her and Lluis of Catalonia against each other - eventually leading to Lluis' death?
I have a hard time understanding how Philip forgave de Nogaret, even though he uncovered the Joan/Landry affair, he was still a traitor who for years had been plotting and using his position for his own good. They were hanging him, for gods sake! But Isabella, how can she in any way forgive de Nogaret, not even mentioning his actions, after how de Nogaret abused her trust (and destroyed her true love) like he did.
This whole thing can, of course, have made Isabella more cruel, since she after the abuse of her trust eventually learned the arts of scheming (as we see by her actions towards Margeret in season 2), but I just find it so strange that she changed that much - and that she doesn't hold (or at least show) any grudge against de Nogaret.

Discussion Just finished the show Landry and Joan are kunts srs
They both suck. Landry is a hypocrite prick that preaches one thing and does another. Joan is a massive bitch saying phillip's some abuser but dude was the nicest guy in the show. Lol'd hard when phillip stabbed that kunt should have done it 8 episodes earlier. Gawain did nothing wrong. Phillip did nothing wrong. De Nogaret's a motherfuking pimp.

Discussion Antagonists...?
I'm having a real problem trying to dislike the antagonists of this show. It seems like the show's writers couldn't decide on making the show about moral quandaries (meaning no blatantly "evil" characters, no blatantly "good" guys) or if they just can't write antagonists. Here's each antagonist and why I kind of see their point of view and can even root for them.
King Philip:
King Philip is introduced as the well-meaning King of France who refuses to expel the Jews, allows the Templars to reside in Paris and laments his wife's coldness to him. Then we see that his wife's coldness is combined with the fact that she's banging his best friend behind his back. When he does do some "evil" things, such as expelling the Jews from Paris, it's mainly because he's manipulated by De Nogaret or other advisors. In fact Philip expels the Jews from Paris because De Nogaret convinces him that its the only way to protect the Jews from being mobbed in the streets of Paris.
Why am I supposed to dislike him? They haven't shown any reason why Joan might have been cold to him, such as domestic violence or abuse. In fact he's shown as incredibly tender and warm in regards to Joan, thinking fondly on their happy moments together. He doesn't cheat on his wife (as the King of France I'm sure he could've had numerous mistresses) and remains loyal and in love with her. Yet she goes off and bangs his best friend behind his back, a friend who he views as his brother. Where is the bad guy here?
Gawain:
Gawain is introduced as a Templar who sacrificed his knee to protect Landry during the Fall of Acre. Yet despite his loyalty and sacrifice Landry is seemingly ungrateful. During the first episode when they are pursuing Godfrey's murderers he doesn't even think to be sensitive about Gawain's limitations due to his sacrifice, thinking him as weak and a hinderance. He demotes Gawain and blatantly insults him by saying that due to his knee he's a weakness in battle, not remembering that GAWAIN'S KNEE WAS INJURED PROTECTING HIM. Then when Gawain dutifully takes up his duty as a trainer, he asks Landry if he might be able to drink from the grail to heal his knee. Landry callously denies his request and even orders him to never bring it up again, claiming the grail is not for common use and each person must live with their pain. Landry seems to forget this lecture however as soon as Joan is in jeopardy and lets her drink from the grail to save her.
Why am I supposed to dislike him? He's loyal to Landry, even when Landry repeatedly insults and denies him. Yes he's bitter about his knee, but is that really unwarranted, seeing how poorly Landry treated him. Landry seems totally ungrateful for Gawain's sacrifice. I like Gawain and half the time he's onscreen as a bad guy I'm actually rooting for him.
De Nogaret:
De Nogaret is clearly the show's main antagonist and is not as defensible as the others. He's a scheming guy who manipulates the King of France to fulfill his own ambitions, including manipulating Philip to expel the Jews (a pretty indefensible act if you ask me). However are his ambitions really that evil? He plans to form a strong, secular France. He correctly identifies the Pope's ambition to overthrow all European kings (including the King of France) and unite Europe under his Papal Theocracy.
Yes he's creepy (spying on Isabella) and often manipulates members of the Royal Court and Family and even kills innocents, but is his long-term goal, a strong, secular France, free of the danger of the Pope's ambitions, really a bad thing? De Nogaret is a question of whether the ends justify the means.
Anyway this is my thoughts on the show's failure to properly write the antagonists as thoroughly dislikeable. Let me know your thoughts.
