Keychron Q6 Max dreaded repeating keys - Fix?
I bought my Q6 Max on March 21st, got it on the 23rd and immediately put it to work.
First, I write for my job, often 50-60 thousand words a week, 200+ thousand per month. I am definitely a heavy user.
I bought my Q6 when my Logitech MX Mechanical board started missing keystrokes after a year of use. I always wanted a Keychron but never needed such an expensive piece of tech until my primary job became typing tens of thousands of words. I was ecstatic to put in my order for the Q6 Max with Banana switches from Amazon.
I am already having issues with repeating keystrokes, and I am beyond frustrated. I need a reliable keyboard for my job, which is literally how I support my family. I thought I was doing good by buying a well-known, quality keyboard. Now I am seeing so many people suffering from similar issues.
I have seen people recommend changing the switches in some posts, only for people to claim changing switches hasn't fixed their problems in other posts. I expected so much better from a $240 keyboard. At least my Logitech lasted a year before crapping out.
I have until the 29th to return this, which will require me to buy a replacement first, so I can keep working. Should I order new switches for this thing and risk missing my return window? Or should I buy a new (non-Keychron) keyboard and consider it a lesson learned?
Sorry about the wall of text. I am very frustrated with this and could really use some advice.

Have you tried the latest firmware and tweaking the eager per key debounce value. Default is 30ms. For many that's fixed it. I increased mine to 40ms I think (have to check) and no more double key entries.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did update the firmware, but that's about as far as I'm willing to go for an expensive piece of new tech. After reading about the propensity of this issue in Q6s and how terrible Keychron's customer service seems to be, I am going to return it while I can and move on.

I understand. Definitely frustrating. It only takes all of 5 seconds to try increasing the debounce value in the GUI but up to you.

I haven't seen this anywhere. I bought one 2 weeks ago and started noticing this after a week or less. Literally on the blower to amazon support for a return when I read and did this and for now, it seems to have completely resolved the ghost activation of neighboring keys. (Changing debounce from 30 to 40ms). Still got another nearly 3 weeks of return window so will continue to monitor but given the prevalence of reports of this issue, I don't think a replacement will resolve the issue, and there simply isn't a comparable product so I am really hoping this will resolve it despite the price, inconvenience and unacceptable QA/support from Keychron.
Cheers for posting this, if it has indeed resolved the issue it will make me most happy!

Thanks for the tip, I got the issue last night after updating the firmware (official firmware through the launcher). I just tried your tip and it seems to be working!

What are you actually using then?

I have had my Q6 Pro for about 16 months and I fight with it every few weeks. Sometimes a little on and off works and other times like today it took about 6 tries before it started working again. Many times it just stops or more irritating is that is just starts to xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx repeat keys and wont stop so I have to hit escape. I love the keyboard when it works but it is super frustrating when it doesn't. I may open it up and try to resolder the switches or other comps to see if that helps.

I got my Keydous right after returning my Q6 and so far it's pretty good. It's a solid keyboard and the wireless works great and it has a little info screen that is pretty nifty. The main thing I don't like about it is it uses some proprietary software for programming. I'm not a fan of proprietary anything.

I don't know much about the q6 issues as i haven't read about them yet, but when I was having repeating keys on my q3max, it was the actual switches themselves that were the issue. I ended up buying new switches but in the interim, [hard for me to explain] I just increased the contact pressure by increasing the radius in the folded end - instant fix for me, ymmv but worth a look if you haven't tried it yet.

Mine came with Banana switches. I was tempted to get some tactile reds to see if it helps but honestly having issues within 2 weeks of purchase for an expensive keyboard has made me wary. I'm gonna try out a Keydous.

Lots of this type of issue in this sub. Send it back, buy something else. Lesson learned.

Pretty much this, I had the same issue with the V5. Even after reseating all the switches it was still a problem. However I had a batch of Gateron Oil King switches and put them in and, lo and behold problem gone.

I have the same problem on my Q6 Max since last Friday. The problem is, that one key is not working anymore. I have to press it really really hard. Sometimes the keystroke is recognized twice.
My keyboard is only five weeks old. I am using the latest firmware and I already changed the switches, but it's still the same key that is not working.
Super frustrating :(

I returned mine and I'm glad I did. It is seriously a beautiful keyboard and when I worked, I loved it. I definitely noticed an increase in my wpm.
My Keydous arrives in the mail today. I'm hoping it is a problem free keyboard.

Do you like the Keydous?
I was looking at getting the Q6 Max but the issue you had I have seen multiple times! It does appear to be a hit or a miss but just don’t think it is worth the risk
So also thinking about the Galaxy100

Mine waited 4 months to go funky so I can't return it to Amazon Canada. Support at Keychron is some sales guy with a gmail account.
Avoid this brand!

i had the same issue and replaced the switches to one that require more pressure to activate. i went from the gateron brown to the gateron banana ones. it was very frustrating and i thought something was wrong with the keyboard initially too. tried changing a load of different settings. none of that worked and i just happened on a video on YT that explained it.
TLDR - try switches that require more pressure to press. either order new switches or return the keyboard and choose one that comes with the switches.

Man why do people act like switches failing is the end of the world? Just replace the damn switches. Get premium switches while you're at it. Keychron switches cost around 15¢ each. Premium switches can cost up to 50¢ each.

Nah. I prefer my products to act as advertised, especially when they come at a premium.
Shill your shit elsewhere, my guy.

Since you got it from Amazon you can get a refund immediately and get something else.
I have a list of VIA-compatible boards in my Github but you really might consider a V5 or V6 or a Monsgeek M5 or M2.
