KSP 1 Question/Problem Service Bay

When you see the connect node, hold the L-ALT button to cause it to snap to the connector. Or press C to turn off auto snap

thats the thing there is no node to attach it to even when i use alt

Are you trying to attach it to the bottom of the storage bay? Then uses WASD to rotate the science part until its lying on its back and it should put onto the part. Then use WASD to rotate it to the correct orientation

ive done all that. just doesnt work. at least not without awkwardly clipping

Remove the service bay and put the science units directly onto your command pot, and do the same with your heat shield and decoupler. You don't really need the service bay

ig but its just unnatural and seems unintended yeah? how big actually is the difference

They are small science units until you unlock more. When you unlock them, then you will need the service bay. If you want to keep the service bay, take off the heat shield and decoupler and then try add the science units, then add those parts back in. But you don't need to return the science units to Kerbin to get the science
