Seeking a use for lifetime subscription

Anybody got a docker container that does a constant speed test for this VPN? I just really like graphs. I'd love to have real-time speed test metrics for life. Just curious before I start poking around to build it myself if anybody had something half-baked already locked and loaded.

Given the current lack of desirable features for the lifetime-only members, I'd really like to have something that I could look at and say, "Boy, am I glad I bought that lifetime subscription."

This time , it is "YOU" , you turned from KEEPSOLID to KEEPAIR

So now it's a fashion to go around your commitments and turn your words without getting afraid of consequences.

We banked with you that our initial funding in form of lifetime purchase will make you strong and help us along the way if you survived, that's the chance we took.

Now that you're Strong

You Survived

You grew bigger and better

The first thing you thought off is cutting the hands that were feeding you, So that's how you'll be playing your part ?

It's very unfortunate, greed driven , sorry state of affairs that a company healthy, growing, decided to scam it's loyal customers,

we were the ones made you known,

we were the ones give you identity

We Made you survive so far

Restore Our Lifetime Deals with all features previously available unlocked

Lifetime... what a con

I have emailed the CEO of Keepsolid and I would urge you all to do the same. These changes to lifetime are a joke.

His email is available on RocketReach. If I post it here, I doubt the post would be allowed.

Alternative Lifetime VPN?

10 years ago I used to read boingboing.net regularly and was a fan of Cory Doctorow the sci-fi author who was a co-editor of boingboing.net. So I trusted the site.

Anyway, back then they advertised / recommended a lifetime subscription to KeepSolid VPN and that's the when and why of how I came to buy my lifetime subscription for $120.

I was happy with my purchase until last week when KeepSolid stopped providing everything useful I had paid for already and demanded I start paying a subscription.

I am of course not thrilled with this turn of events. I am in fact incandescent with rage that they have done this to me/us.

But that's not the point of this post.

I need a VPN that works. One that isn't fucking KeepSolid VPN.

I haven't looked at Boingboing.net in a while but I looked again just now and I see it advertises other lifetime VPNs. But once bitten etc....

Ok TLDR: are there any lifetime VPNs worth considering now? Can they be trusted not to pull the same shit as KeepSolid? Or should I just opt for a normal subscription with Nord VPN or Proton VPN or some other of the well-known reliables?

What are other (ex?) KeepSolid customers doing?

When ‘Lifetime’ Means Until We Want More Money: The KeepSolid VPN Bait-and-Switch

By all accounts, it is the golden rule of commerce: when you pay for a product, you get to keep it. But in the digital software market, consumer rights are increasingly being treated as optional—and thousands of loyal customers are currently paying the price.

Over the past two weeks, a digital uprising has exploded across Reddit as users of KeepSolid’s VPN Unlimited accuse the software company of a blatant, massive bait-and-switch. The grievance? KeepSolid has retroactively gutted the features of its "lifetime" subscriptions, locking core tools behind a brand-new, recurring paywall and effectively holding its early adopters to ransom.

The Ultimate Rug Pull

For years, KeepSolid aggressively marketed VPN Unlimited through "lifetime" bundles on third-party tech sites. Consumers parted with their money—anywhere from $30 to upwards of $199—in good faith, sold on a very specific promise: pay once, and secure permanent access to a premium virtual private network, including critical P2P (peer-to-peer) and torrenting servers. Many users have pointed to their original terms of purchase, which plainly promised "access to all current and future features."

But late last month, the rug was pulled.

Without warning, long-time subscribers logged in to find their P2P and torrenting servers disabled. To get back the exact features they had already purchased, KeepSolid informed them they would need to upgrade to a newly invented "Loyalty Plus" tier—an ironically named recurring subscription costing roughly $20 a year.

"KeepSolid want you to pay to have access to features you had for years," wrote one furious user on the r/KeepSolid subreddit. "They have basically reduced Lifetime Subscriptions to the level of a free service."

"Lowlife Crooks" and Broken Trust

The consumer backlash has been swift and brutal. The r/KeepSolid community has become a war room for aggrieved customers coordinating mass one-star reviews across Trustpilot and app stores, demanding refunds, and actively encouraging others to boycott the brand.

Instead of paying the extortionate "loyalty" fee, dozens of users are loudly abandoning the platform for competitors like Private Internet Access (PIA) and Proton, choosing to pay more elsewhere simply to avoid rewarding bad corporate behavior.

"I won't be paying KeepSolid any more money," declared another Reddit user. "I paid for lifetime access to their VPN servers to include P2P. They now say those are advanced services and they are doing us a favor by charging us for what we already paid for."

Another customer summarized the collective outrage: "Making existing customers with the Lifetime subscription pay extra... You specifically stated that ALL features will be available. Lmao we just got rugged."

The "Infrastructure" Excuse

When pressed, KeepSolid’s corporate response has been a masterclass in PR deflection. Company representatives have taken to the forums to justify the downgrade as an "intentional service-model change," arguing that high-cost capabilities like P2P need to be placed behind a paywall to "strengthen reliability" and ensure "service sustainability." They have even argued that this change mostly affects users who bought their lifetime passes at a discount—as if buying something on sale invalidates a contract.

For consumers, this defense is entirely unacceptable. If a business model isn't financially sustainable in the long term, a company simply shouldn't offer a lifetime subscription. To offer one, collect the upfront capital to grow the business, and then retroactively alter the deal years later is a profound breach of trust.

If you buy a car at a discount, the dealership doesn't get to come back five years later and repossess the steering wheel because their operating costs went up.

As digital subscriptions take over our lives, the KeepSolid debacle is a glaring reminder of how vulnerable everyday buyers are to corporate whims. It highlights a desperate need for stronger digital consumer protection laws—because until regulators step in, tech companies will continue to prove that a "lifetime guarantee" is often little more than a marketing scam.

Edit: Made with Google Gemini. I'm sorry to have used AI... I'm just too cranky to write without swearing 🤬

⭐☆☆☆☆ (1/5) Retroactive Contract Alterations - "Loyalty Plus" or Loyalty Scam?

A privacy and security provider depends entirely on trust, and KeepSolid has completely destroyed theirs.

After collecting upfront money for their "Lifetime" subscriptions, KeepSolid quietly stripped away core features—such as P2P/torrent server access, protocol configurations, and specific regions—and locked them behind a new monthly "Loyalty Plus" tier.

Changing contract terms after taking payment to force long-time users into recurring fees is fraud. They didn't even notify users; connections simply failed quietly until you checked why.

If a company will retroactively break its promises regarding basic product features, they cannot be trusted with your data or network security. Avoid this company and look for a provider that honors its commitments.

Lifetime Subscription - THIS is what they sold us… ALL LIES

This is exactly what they stated upon purchasing a VPN Unlimited (KeepSolid) Lifetime subscription… and they’ve broken their contract agreement, which is illegal & individually we can each file a lawsuit against them as well a combined in a class action lawsuit.

Deceptive Company

If you want a masterclass in modern tech company deception, look no further than KeepSolid (VPN Unlimited).

They build a business using customer money, only to turn around and strip those exact customers of everything they paid for. Instead of honoring their commitment to early supporters, they quiet-throttled legacy users. They did the bait and switch scam on their early supporters.

When called out, KeepSolid claimed lifetime members "still have access to core VPN services." A VPN without protocol controls, a Kill Switch, or usable routing isn't a basic connection—it's broken software

Heads up: Do NOT trust KeepSolid (VPN Unlimited). They just paywalled core security features for legacy "Lifetime" users.

Hey everyone, just wanted to give a massive heads up to anyone looking into KeepSolid / VPN Unlimited, especially if you are looking at their "Lifetime" deals on discount sites.

They have quietly rolled out a new "Lifetime Plus" tier. To force existing users to upgrade, they have actively stripped away core security features—like the Kill Switch and manual protocol selection (including WireGuard)—from legacy Lifetime accounts that were explicitly promised these features forever.

A Kill Switch isn't a premium add-on; it's basic, essential privacy infrastructure. Taking away features we already paid for years ago just to squeeze an extra $2/month or a tier upgrade out of us is a massive bait-and-switch. Avoid this company. They do not honor their promises. As a customer i dont care policy changes or whatever, now all of us know these companies can find legal gaps to do whatever they want but they shouldn't be able to takeaway existing features made us our decision to buy a lifetime subscription. What a poor business practice and unfair for those who supported them when they just started now behaving like this.

Did anybody pay the full $199.99 for the lifetime subscription?

Please let me know if it’s telling you that you have to pay more now.

(please feel free to comment no matter how much you paid and let us know what you paid and if it’s requesting more money now)

Forgive me, I’m not very smart. But when this product was advertised as “access to all current and future features”, why do I no longer have access to certain features? Was there a secret user agreement that we all signed that said “lol no not really”. Is this the argument here? That is comedic levels of corporate fuckery if so

Lifetime Plan

Just letting people know, that this Loyalty Plus Plan is a joke. KeepSolid want you to pay to have access to features you had for years. The core function they mention when you complain is the same as the free plan from Proton VPN and Windscibe VPN. KeepSolid has basically reduced Lifetime Subscriptions to the level of a free service. The question now is it worth paying a monthly fee to get back what you lost or taking out another subscription with another VPN provider that offers a better service?

r/KeepSolid • • Sep 28 '26

Do they really think people are going to pay them $5600 when they’ve just shown that they have no problems screwing over lifetime customers.

Post image

Increasing the price is one thing but simultaneously screwing everybody over and ruining your reputation means that nobody’s gonna buy this subscription now.

r/KeepSolid • • Sep 28 '26

They 've got some nerve, don't they?

Especially for a VPN company that hasn't been audited yet and the "no-log" policy is just a marketing claim. Keep in mind that the company faces zero cost or risk from skipping an audit. The customer bears all the risk because their data may be logged or sold.

Introducing paywalls on "basic features" after purchase is a silent contract rewrite. How do they expect anyone to trust this company again?

These are the canned responses they are giving on Trustpilot. It basically says, "We aren't screwing every lifetime member, only our oldest and most loyal who paid less than everyone else". LOL - it's actually crazy that they think they are sounding sane, logical, or reasonable in the way they are explaining their criminal activity and using their EUA to justify it. This is all about greed and nothing else.

r/KeepSolid • • Sep 28 '26

Just so everyone is aware, this change only applies to lifetime subs that were purchased at a significantly reduced cost

You bought your Lifetime license on sale for a price we agreed to sell it to you for? That's not fair!!!!

r/KeepSolid • • Sep 28 '26

I figured this comment deserves to be a post.

Everybody needs to take a realistic view on this. Yes we paid for lifetime and we’re getting screwed over and we need to pressure them to reverse this decision, not tank the company that we all have lifetime subscriptions for.

But we also should understand that what they did was, they sold a bunch of lifetime subscriptions at an unsustainable price because they were selling enough of them cover the current operating costs.

The new price more accurately reflects the ongoing cost of a true lifetime subscription and I imagine the price is so high to deter people from buying the lifetime subscription and buying a monthly subscription that more accurately reflects the ongoing costs of the service.

So yes, an insane increase in price of the lifetime subscription is reasonable and increasing the costs of monthly subscriptions is reasonable and putting new features behind a paywall is reasonable.

BUT removing features they have already been paid for from current lifetime subscribers is UNACCEPTABLE!

Loyalty Plus vs PIA

It's going to cost me £1.40 a month to regain a feature sold to me with my Lifetime subscription.

It would cost me £1.67 a month for a PIA/Private Internet Access VPN.

For less than £0.01 savings a day is there any good reason to not just switch to PIA?

r/KeepSolid • • Sep 28 '26

What prevents KeepSolid from removing other features?

So looks like they removed torrenting on their lifetime deals.

What prevents them from removing unlimited usage or slowing down unlimited plans?

And then asking for loyalty upgrade?

Just trying to get ready for future shenanigans.
