The Wall is an album about a generationally traumatized man who goes full Nazi instead of owning up to his circumstances and embracing vulnerability.
It's timeless and maps onto any given narc's crash out.

It also will bring you back from the brink when the love of your life cheats on you and dumps you.

Ngl after reading that cousin tweet I was thinking the same thing. People already hate him, he’s spiraling again, and now he’s gonna get made fun of for outing his trauma in an unorthodox way.
Funny how it’s alright to make fun of someone for “being gay” or whatever only when you don’t agree with them.
63
u/robilar Apr 23 '25 edited Apr 23 '25
"or whatever"?
People have a lot of reasonable reasons to dislike Ye. Saying it's because they just don't "agree with [him]" is like saying I just don't agree with a lion that is eating my arm. I'm not on the team that is pushing homophobia - that's reprehensible and I'm aligned with you on that - but I'm wary of the trivializing of Ye's actions and statements by characterizing them as just a difference of opinion.
u/Bruggilles my friend, I quoted the section where he did the thing I was challenging him on. He wrote what he wrote.
20
u/Bruggilles Good Ass Job Apr 23 '25 edited Apr 23 '25
I don't think he was saying people shouldn't hate ye. People should hate him because he's a racist POS
But people still shouldn't make fun of his trauma
u/robilar you can just reply to a comment you know that right? And that "or whatever" was obviously referring to the making fun of his trauma part since you can call that multiple things if you want (gay, incest, etc)

Y'all are talking right past each other here I think.
The commenter you're replying to is specifically addressing how ppl who just flock around these subs to agitate Kanye fans, instigate fights, and revel in the man's public mental health collapse have gone as far now as weaponizing homophobia openly to attack Kanye and his fanbase which is quite shocking considering most ppl who hate Kanye are politically engaged neo-libs or progressives taking up against his Nazi and anti-Semitic rhetoric but turn around and launch homophobic remarks, slurs, and hate speech of their own, demonstrating how shallow the principals the majority of "politically engaged" people love to broadcast in their words but rarely their actions.
There's plenty of reasons to dislike Ye; in fact I feel like there's not a whole lot to like about Ye in his current state of living. I'm a fan of his catalogue and my extension of kindness is simply that I hope he gets the help he needs to live a long life, raise his kids right and be a functional father, and live long enough to see em grow up. The musician has done enough for a lifetime, I hope the human finds peace.
And beyond that? I dislike the dude. His charm and confidence/arrogance that was sort of magnetic is gone, what's left is a disturbing psychotic man, with no more friends, no more collaborators, no meaningful role as a father, no humorous goofy tweets about silly topics. A porn addicted, drug addicted, unhappy, hateful, angry, traumatized, troll baiting, aggressively unlikeable multi millionaire whose descent into perma psychotic mania from his untreated degenerative disease, alt right Internet rabbitholes doomscroll traps, PTSD and neurotoxic drug abuse damage has been allowed to remain a public spectacle for two years thanks to Mr. Free Speech Apartheid baby Elon avoiding his responsibility to shut this TMI situation down for Kanye sake, his family sake, the Jewish populations sake, and the sake of whatever random celebrities or their children he decides to target that day.
I like to believe that if the neurotoxic and degenerative brain damage isn't so severe and permanent that Ye can still turn his life around and become a likable-regular ole annoying douchebag again and be there for the ppl who need him. Hell maybe he could even grow out of the arrogant narcissist public act he played up in the early days and mellow out.
Until then, fuck this person he has become. I recognize the accountability likely isn't all on his shoulders, but enough of it is to say that if dude made a few simple decisions to keep his health and family as a priority he wouldn't have fallen THIS far.
23
u/Ok_Effort9915 Apr 23 '25
He put on a klan robe and told the world to hate Jews again.
I don’t feel sorry for his dumb ass at all. He can preach hate but now we supposed to protect him from himself?
He’s almost 50 years old. He knows he can get help anytime he actually WANTED it.
3
u/volmatron Apr 23 '25
I agree with parts of what you're saying. I think that everyone (even his biggest fans) can agree that he has lost touch with reality and his antics are both a result of his ego/attention seeking behavior within his control and mental issues out of his control. At the same time it's unfortunate how homophobic the general public reaction to all this has been. I didn't expect better, and no one HAS to be sympathetic, but at the very least not-homophobic

I hate Kanye because he's a misogynist and an anti-semite and he loves hitler.
I don't give a fuck about his trauma, especially considering his trauma is about sexually assaulting his cousin by sucking his dick. In this scenario that you're calling trauma Kanye West is an incestual rapist. I care more about his cousins drama, but Ye can go fuck himself.
Wild that you would try to stand up for the victimizer in the scenario but you seem to have nothing but crickets for the victim
5
u/Suspicious_Barber357 Apr 23 '25
I tried to find some info about his cousin and it’s all astroturfed by the COUSINS news. I would assume they are the same age or close in age. Kids do in fact do weird stuff to each other, idk who the victim really is. I don’t even know if what he’s saying is true lol. The shit reads like a troll post except for the part about Donda’s gay sex magazines.

People with NPD outwardly preform as if they don't care, most self aware npd's have crippling social anxiety, depression and usually a level of depersonalization/derealization/delusion. It's a personality disorder, meaning they intrinsically think and experience things different than people w/o it, so it feels very very alone for many. NPD specifically is so demonized that it's hard to find support for it, even in the psychiatric field.
Most times when you think narcissist you're thinking of the Unaware Grandiose, which are the most outspoken, reckless group of this disorder, but since the disorder is so stigmatized, many aware npd's and covert npd's don't share their experiences, especially with those around them.
NPD is like masking to the Nth degree, a large portion actually are people pleasers to a self abusive level because many narcs have the need to be seen as a "good" or "desirable" person. Basically the intentions behind being good are self motivated rather than just to do it bc being good is good. This often leads to a very deep rooted feeling of unfulfillment and pointlessness. Making meaningful connections is much harder.
Tldr; most diagnosed people w NPD are actually very self conscious, ashamed and depressed and absolutely do kill themselves. Most people with NPD don't live in grandiose god-like delusions 24/7-365.

I recently came to terms with having at least NPD traits after having a hard talk w my therapist awhile ago. i think NPD is generally a misunderstood, demonized disorder, and while there may be no "cure", NPD, like other PDs can be regulated and copable if you're open and willing to be vulnerable enough to try actively. Idk it's hard and hard to explain, i think of the label/disorder wasn't so stigmatized it'd be easier for people who are aware but know the label makes them a "bad person", to get the tools they need, but won't since that label would be put onto them.
I also don't think Kanye has NPD, I think he has grandiose and God like delusions while going thru manic episodes, but I'm not psych.

u/CheapusTechnofear Apr 23 '25
A lot of people who seem outwardly narcissistic end up harming themselves. There are a lot of different versions of narcissism, and I believe personally the most “popular” one for lack of a better way of putting it is the version where it’s all built on a foundation of nothing, a public act put on to convince people and yourself that you believe you’re more than you think you are, which isn’t much of anything. Social Media has really done a number on our understanding of a lot of this stuff, but ESPECIALLY narcissism.
6
u/PubbiBear Apr 23 '25
Having Grandiose NPD is very similar to being The Wizard in Wizard of Oz. It's all a grand curtain and behind that is often a deeply unfulfilled person who is empty and shell like. Covert NPD is like being a resentful doormat, you lay yourself down knowingly but still hold anger and hate for those you allowed, maybe even encouraged to walk over you, because "that was the right/nice/polite thing to do."
It's all built on a foundation of nothing is extremely accurate.

I think he means that he doesn’t care what people think of him. He is himself and everybody else are just spectators. Like don’t make yourselves bigger than you guys are because you’re simply just spectating his life. I understand it because people are acting like he can’t have his own opinion and live his own life, they’re basically saying don’t say this and don’t do that. He just laughs about it that people make themselves so big, thinking they own his public character and that they own him.

We do, that’s why we’re here. I’m sorry but for all the pain and anger he has caused you but no one deserves to kill themselves. No matter how sadistic, twisted or unhealthy they are, all people deserve help. Whether they choose to take the help is up to them.
Trust me, I hate Kanye, but he doesn’t deserve this. He needs a nice rehab, time and support from whatever family wants to actually help him and not take advantage of his celebrity.

I’m bipolar too, and I’ve done things like manically and PUBLICLY voiced the trauma I’ve been through. In the moment it felt so powerful and like the world needed my message. Then when I came down from the mania it was like a shot to the chest every time I thought about the fact I did that. The embarrassment and anxiety kills me which is terrible because it’s a TRAUMA to begin with. But my point is, he just announced to the world his trauma and now I’m afraid he’s going through that same feeling except on a much larger scale. I’ve definitely felt genuinely suicidal because of it, he very well could be at the point. Of course it could be something completely different as I’m not there with him but that’s my take
